I love the idea of not cutting the fries. I never get the fries the same size. New to wfpb. I just ordered the brevile and so excited to get it and start air-frying the vegs! Sometimes, we can learn from our daughters. My daughter kept telling me for a long time to get the instapot. Finally gave in and now I have two! 😅
New potatoes boiled then air fried would be so great. My mom use to boil new potatoes and then put them in iron skillet of hot grease until golden brown. I plan to do the same but air fry until brown and add little butter on them after mashing them. Thanks for sharing.
I made the "Smashed Potatoes" just like you did in your video. I must say the were "outstanding". Thank you for sharing this wonderful way of enjoying a potato.
Wow! These Smashed Potatoes are really good!! They are now my new favorite potatoes!! I live in my 18 wheeler and we found a air fryer with a low enough watts. And I'm loving it!!
I can’t thank you enough for sharing. I bought an air fryer approximately one year ago and it’s been used for unwise food choices. Now I’m transitioning to plant based lifestyle I’m discovering new ways to cook. I can’t wait to try the cheese recipe over the smashed potatoes. Thank you again

Wonderful. My daughter in law made some for me but they were smaller so she boiled/steamed them and smashed them with the heal of her hand... whole, and put garlic all over them from a garlic press... oh, my gosh. She browned them in the oven. So great. I think being smaller, the garlic didn't have time to burn. I went over to look at your vegan cheeze sauce. Looks like something I could try. I'll let you know how they turn out. Thanks for the recipe. I subscribed...
I make something similar to this, I just marinate them in English style malt vinegar solution.. How much you marinate them depends on how much you like malt vinegar. I rgn season them just before they are finished baking with a liquid solution I brush on with a pasgtry brush, whatever seasonings you like. I do this in the oven, but will definitely be trying in my new breville using the air frying functtion. I bought the breville using your link, and I have to say I like it much better than my regular oven, and as a single, I think it will replace my oven totally. Anything I could even want it is plenty big, and I can set it on a kitchen cart, and can actually see inside, and putting things in and out is better at this level. My old under stove gas oven......dark, light no longer works, and it bothers my old back....lol...I have been using it primarily for storage for several years now. So, this has gotten me baking and roasting again.
Thank you so much! They are our favorite way to make air fried potatoes! Be sure to subscribe to the blog for even more recipes at www.nutmegnotebook.com
I do something similar. I steam 3 or 4 small potatoes in the microwave for around 6 mins, then wait for them to cool down before flattening them, using the broadside of a large knife. I then grill them for around 5 mins. Absolutely delicious.
I just got the Breville exactly like yours, thank you for the tip crispy cooker mat. me and my husband are trying to eat plant base for a year now. I would like to thank you for your youtube channel; I learned a lot from you to make this way of life sustainable especially here in Alaska.
Try calling it "cruelty free" instead of "plant based" live out your live in alignment with your morals .. You would not hurt a dog so why hurt a baby cow or pig or chicken.

Just discovered your channel (because I was looking for Breville Oven Air Fryer videos) and I love it!! I have a question about the recipe. I noticed that the potatoes had been already baked in the oven. How do you bake potatoes in the Breville Oven Air Fryer??
Love your vids, T! I really want those crispy cooker mats, as well as the cutting board on top, but both have been unavailable for weeks. Guess we'll be patient and hope they show up at some point. Thank you for the easy recipes!

Tami, thanks so much for sharing so much great information! Do you ever use a dutch oven in your Breville? I'm wondering if the bottom rack can be set right at the lowest setting, which would allow for a 7" high dutch oven?
Hi Tammy this is Lindy from California I love your show. my question is if I get the oven that you have do I still need a microwave? What does it do? Thank you

Hi, I just got a Breville Smart Air Oven and can't be more excited! your smash potato recipe will be on my week using it. wondering if you ever dehydrated fruit in yours?
How long do you cook the potatoes the first time around before the smashing and air frying process? Do you bake them in breville as well before hand or a regular oven? Thank you!
We use our full sized oven on convection multi rack setting as we bake 3 sheet pans full of several types of potatoes at once, including one full sheet pan of the gold potatoes. Temperature iis 400 degrees, time is 1 hour, the small potatoes are typically done by then, use a fork to test doneness of any lagrer potatoes . The large sweet potatoes we cook at the same time usually take another 15 minutes. Thanks -- Be sure to subscribe to the our channel and our blog at www.nutmegnotebook.com

Do you think I can cook the potatoes in my instapot, refrigerate and then smash them and bake in the Breville?
Absolutely - they will be more moist so they might take a little longer to get crispy but only a couple minutes more. Enjoy!
So delicious! Thanks for another great video Tami!
You are welcome my friend!

Thank you soooo much for this. I just got the Breville and always glad for sos free dishes. Do you use the convection fan for these?
Yes, I use the Air Fry setting at 400 for 20 to 25 minutes, this batch needed 22 minutes,
Hi, I just got a Breville Smart Air Oven and can't be more excited! your smash potato recipe will be on my week using it. wondering if you ever dehydrated fruit in yours?
No, I have not used it for dehydrating as I have a large Excaliber dehydrator, but we do use the Breville multiple times daily.
I am thinking about getting this Breville oven. Do you have any regrets in purchasing ? Does it make the countertop hot? Ty!
We love our Breville and the counter does not get hot!
Sherismiley I got one two weeks ago and have been using it everyday. It’s awesome.

@@NutmegNotebookI can’t find it there. Could you please add a link in the comments? TY!
How long to prebake
Here is my video all about baking potatoes - ruclips.net/video/reyO3ImfS6c/видео.html
why don't you preheat the oven? what's the difference?
I heats up so quickly that that would just seem like an extra step. Its not like preheating our big oven that takes much longer.
Hello, I was wondering if you could help me. I’ve had my Breville Air for about 3 months now and just now noticed there was a “convection/super convection button. What should that be on when air frying? How do you use that button?
We always use the super convection button when air frying. maximum air flow = fastest cooking time.
Nutmeg Notebook Thanks so much. That’s what I figured. Don’t know why I never saw that button. It was off (probably by accident when cleaning) lol
Nutmeg Notebook Smashed potatoes are now a family fav. Sooo good! Oh, and the sweet mini peppers... YUM!
Hi, I love smashed potatoes. Why do you cool them down in the refrigerator?
It changes the starch in the potatoes and it actually makes them taste better when reheated. Enjoy!
Thank you.
I am torn between a dedicated air fryer and a toaster oven with air fry function.
We still love our breville after 3 years
