Curry has to be set to shoot his 3 pointers. I can’t remember the last time, coming out of a time out Curry shot a 3 down by 2 points with less than 5 seconds left to win the game. Larry Bird and Reggie miller could be fighting for position without the ball catch it with 2 seconds left on the clock and sink the 3. That is the difference.

So he literally developed the 3 during his playing time in the nba. Imagine how good bird would've been at 3's if hed practiced it his whole life like Steph and ray Allen. My family is a rodeo family. We own a bunch of horses. We have 2 that are high bred, high dollar and absolutely gorgeous. They win a lot. I own many more horses that are bred well, not as beautiful or striking, but they give you the same performance every time. Their work ethic and technical abilities will always get you in the top 5.
That’s the difference between a workhorse and a show pony. Some are just nice to have, a joy to behold and they earn their keep. But those workhorses are the backbone of our operation. Hands down.

@@Newportnews98 In 1976, the ABA and NBA merged. *The 3-point shot, at first, wasn't part of the package. The NBA stayed firm in the game's traditions. The league didn't adopt the 3-pointer until 1979--Magic Johnson and Larry Bird's rookie season.* While certain college basketball conferences experimented with it in the early '80s, the NCAA didn't universally implement a 3-point line until 1986, with high school basketball following suit a year later.

They didnt ask Bird if Curry was the best three point shooter of all time. He was asked if he was the best shooter.of all time. Those are two separate questions I believe Curry is the best three ball shooter of all time. But, his 47% from mid range doesnt sit well for the best. Bird was 51% from mid range. Ive watched the NBA since 1972. Ive never seen anyone hit more clutch sots at all ranges than Bird. And I was lucky enough to be there when Bird hit that shot against the Suns. It was like midnight at the morgue when that ball popped the net.

LaBron was an example of how prima donna the players are. That wasn't about LaBron himself. That was the easiest and most high level version of what he was trying show. The difference? Watch the 1986 NBA finals. The Last game, where the Boston fans had blow up dolls dressed as Ralph Sampson (Rockets Center) hanging from the upper deck. People holding signs saying "Ralph I'm 5 foot, you'd hit me too!" and booing him every time he TOUCHED the ball. All because he slugged one of the Boston bench players during game 5 in Houston. Both the bench player and Sampson got ejected. Do you see that in ANY game today? No. And some of that is good, but some of that is bad.
Look. This video wasn't about Steph Curry or Larry Bird really. It was JJ Reddick mocking '80's basketball. In a couple of sentences he insulted an entire decade of basketball. Larry and Curry were just the instruments of the chaos.

You're misunderstanding what is being said. Most people do that intentionally because they want Curry to be the best shooter of all time. I don't think you're doing it intentionally but you can only judge a player by what they did in their era because you can't compare growing up shooting 3's your whole life with just getting a 3 point line your first year in the NBA. There has to be context taken into account.

He ain’t blaming anybody. He’s telling Riddick or whoever he is to watch the tape of now and then and compare no calls and foul calls. Players flop and get the foul calls more today than in Birds era. No blame. He’s responding to dude’s stupid comments regarding Larry Bird. He opened his mouth and said some dumb things, and Cooper responded to his comments and argument concerning the league, fouls, Larry Bird, and 3 point shooting. That’s it. He’s giving him a history lesson. The only blame is being put on Reddick for not knowing what the hell he’s talking about. He’s either ignorant or trolling to get people talking about him. Bad press is better than none I guess.

Bird didn't need to do DELIBERATE 3 pointers. Curry was not a good clutch 3 point shooter. 0-12 last season.

Larry's more Clutch. I mean, Jerry West and MJ are the only ones who could touch that. Maybe DJ. Curry is a better three point shooter. But he doesn't really do anything else. Is he a great player? yes, but Curry isn't in Larry's league. I mean Micheal Cooper was a decent 3 point shooter. But he was a BETTER defender. Larry had an all around game. Curry doesn't This is why many people defend Larry so hard. He wasn't at the top ten of everything, but he was excellent top 50 or higher at EVERYTHING. Nobody today does that. NO ONE. Heck, in the eighties, no one was doing that. He's not the GOAT, he's a UNICORN in a class by himself and always talked about WITH whomever you have as the GOAT.

I'm just a casual fan so my opinion may not matter. Bird really did seem to be a great team player. He tried to get everyone involved. But in clutch situations he wanted the ball because he wanted the team to win. He probably is a unicorn with amazing basketball IQ and endless confidence.
When someone asked why he played hurt and gave 100%, he supposedly said something like, "I owe it to the Celtics. I owe it to basketball. I owe it to fans who may have saved for months to pay for tickets and transportation to the games."

Great job fem. J.J. Reddick is a total embarrassment. Larry is the most clutch player in NBA history! do I believe Bird & Curry are the best 3 pt. shooters of all time? YES. Do I think Larry cares? Not one bit.

Currys the greater 3 point shooter. Birds the better mid range shooter. Currys better free throw. Birds much better clutch. Theyre both great.

the statement that larry only shot about 37 1/2 % from 3 point line in his career is correct. actually his first 5 years he was under i think 30% or very low 30's? But when he got into the 3 point contest he really started practicing more so his last 7 years he average 41% and that was with 1 year at 33%, you can't prove it but i feel if he practiced more he might have increased it maybe another 1% and then maybe not we will never know. Oh in playoffs an champioship games it was (42.2%)

The statement of the slightest bump of a player shooting a 3 has nothing to do with the refs. It has everything to do with the rules of today. Michael Cooper is trying to say the rules are different from today to back in the 80s. The rules allowed for a more physical game back in the 80s and have changed for player safety. Curry happens to play in a different era. Bird played in an era where Papa Curry hit Bird so hard that it almost knocked him out of the game.

It's not moving the goal post. The real argument is what does "the best 3 point shooter" mean? The person that makes the most 3 pointers? The person with the highest percentage of successful 3 pointers? The person who makes the most clutch 3 pointers? The person who won the most 3 point contests? You had some good insight but I think you were quick to shoot down the arguments. Good reaction though made me think.

its way more than the refs, it's the nba and money, the nba realizes that points equal money, the game has evolved and the nba has followed with it, that doesn't make it right or wrong, it is what it is

You know I blame the players because they're the ones that are flopping and accentuating the foul they know the rules to just like double dribbling and traveling but that doesn't stop them from doing it how you get a travel and double dribble take like 10 steps and then slam and act like you're good plus nobody's guarding him I don't see that as being a great or any kind of good in the NBA that's why people are not watching it boring traveling flopping whiny babies self-entitled a-holes getting paid more than anybody on this planet to not play that's why there's no fans are just you young new people that Don't Know Jack about basketball
