We don't need to imagine what Bird v. Jordan would be like. They played against each other and Bird swept Jordan's bulls twice.

@@catcountry0099, they did. Bird outplayed Jordan with Pippen and Grant (with a literal broken back). He outplayed both statistically and went 3-1 against them in his last year. He embarrassed Rodman before that. Better check the tapes, and quit your you bs.

@Exposing CASUALS , it was prime Pippen and Jordan, and he destroyed them both. Keep up, and quit being casual, because you just got exposed. Bird beat and outplayed Jordan during his best statistical season, with Pippen. YOU ARE EXPOSED.

@@profanepersonality If you're talking anywhere between 87-90 Scottie wasn't even in his prime and the rest of the team besides Jordan was average at best. And that wasn't a prime Bulls team didn't even have Rodman yet. Scottie himself doesn't equal McHale, Parish, Johnson etc...
And it's just kinda funny to see you like your own comments btw🤭😁

Young people seem to not realize that Bird is 6'10". And he was a very very good defender. He'd be the best player in the NBA today, easily. Think a combo of Luka and Jokic with more athleticism (true), all of the brains, amazing passer, great shooter, ALL of the heart and a better defender. Unstoppable.

I don't remember which team was involved but one of my favorite bird stories was the one where the cheerleaders from the opposing team went (incognito) to the bar the night before the game and bought bird and the other celtics that were there drinks all night in order to get them as drunk as possible so they would be hungover and sluggish for the game. the bird celtics tore them up in the game, not even close, then after the game bird walked over to the cheerleaders and thanked them for all the beers.

I met a player who played with Bird. He told me about the Indiana game where Bird broke his cheek bone and returned to the game with a concussion and double vision. Bird joked that after the first shot went in he knew which of the two hoops in his vision to aim for. The Celts were leading when he went out, down when he returned and he ended up winning the game for them. He said of all the players he ever saw play, Bird was by far the best.

That funny guy you asked about is Terrell Brandon. He was a point guard for the Cavaliers and played with Kevin Garnett on the Timberwolves, too, I think. He made the all star team a couple times and was a good player. He's actually doing a pretty good demonstration of how Larry frequently shot. He usually shot a high arc and if someone was close in front of him, he'd start the shot way back behind his head so that it was almost impossible to block even at the start of it's trajectory.

Bird is just different than any other player in NBA history in how he told he other team what the play was before it started, where he was going to shoot from and then doing exactly what he said - over and over and over again against everyone.
Bird also made his teammates better and demanded the best from them.
One of my favorite stories is told by Charles Barkley , where in the middle of a play while Bird was in the midst of taking a shot, Bird was yelling at Robert Parrish(Chief) for not setting a pick the right way, of course Bird made the shot.

Larry is the kind of player that (most likely) knows more or less where every player is at on the court an any time (Not that easy when you gotta keep a close eye on the ball at all times too). Combine that with being a genius on the court and you have yourself a player who often times knows what his opponents are gonna do before they do. Combine that with an ability to get into your head and you have yourself an assassin on the court, athletics be damned (I mean obviously he was Althetic, but he wasn't top tier in that way, he won't outmove you, he'll outplay you).

He did that notion with his hand because Bird has a finger, shooting hand, that cannot be straightened. An interview regarding the injury said "In fact, the index finger of his shooting hand is mangled beyond repair because of a softball injury. The deformed digit cannot be straightened and is swollen to twice its normal size, making Bird's uncanny shooting ability even more uncanny." Obviously he had to adjust and change his shooting at this point...he was in college at the time.

I'm pretty sure that was Bernard King of the New York Nick's and there was Plenty of Players that tried to imitate his shot. And before Larry Bird even joined the Celtics he injured his Shooting hand playing Baseball ⚾. And he even said that he doesn't have the same feeling in his hand. And Shot a higher average before his hand injury. He was a 60% from outside before his hand was injured. But when he Gets Hot 🔥 Watch Out. Even as the Manager of the Pacers he goes out with the Guys and grabbed a Ball 🏀 and Nails 10 Three's in a Row and had the whole Team just looking Dumfounded.

Magic and Bird What more can you say. It was a great rivalry between the two most storied franchises. First interest I ever had in the NBA when I was young, then eventually Jordan but he didn't have an equivalent rival which was unfortunate (then he played baseball for a couple of years) but the combo of Magic and Bird followed by Jordan really shot the NBA up to a next level.

hilarious. at about 19:00 to about 19:30 our hosts got reeeeeal quiet. notice, back in the day no one was taking steps or palming the ball. no one in today's game could play with those 80's boys with those rules in place. period.

dont know why people even debate mj or bird for. mj only took over when bird retired due to body giving out, mj never beat bird in the playoffs bird destroyed him everytime
