I'm 53 and I so understand what you mean ...I also love listening to Beatrix Potter and other stories just something comforting when you snuggle down to sleep ❤️
Interesting to see how many folk - myself included - come to this in search of a balm for stress. I’m 52, at the time of posting this comment, and suffering terribly with anxiety, depression, stress, etc. A charming story, such as this, well read - and Briers has the perfect slightly plummy thespian delivery - can be so soothing. As others have alluded to, there’s also a brilliant animated version, by Cosgrove Hall (who also brought us Dangermouse & Count Duckula!), which is definitely worth watching. Thanks for sharing…
I urge all ages to listen to all 3 parts of this story... something so comforting and a beautiful break from the madness of the pandemic. Stay safe, sweet humans.

This is one of my favorite books. And when i was a child my father and i saw the movie back in the 80 s. Now is my father dead. But he liked it. For me this is a pure bliss a delight.
What a joyous memory 🥰I hope my children remember how we listened to this book every night during 2015 and 2016 while I was going through a divorce from their father. I put the tape on at night and we settled in together, it was lovely
Lovely story narrated beautifully. If you want to know the ideal England, and hierarchy of worth among creatures and how one keeps order in the land and peace among them you must read Wind in the Willows.
Wonderful reading voice. Thank you so much! I can lay in bed with the iPad on the bed stand and get a bonafide bedtime story told perfectly, splendidly and with enthusiasm.

I found the complete works on cassette tape at the library book sale about 6 years ago. All four books and we listened in the loft every night! The boys love it and they ask to do the characters!
Those food descriptions made me hungry and thirsty XD. I’m loving this audio book! I’ve been curios to check out the wind in the willows. I love the actors narration of it.
Can’t belive I found this after 18 years ... I used to pause the tape and record my own sound effects... play it back at the end with a nice cup of tea. Haha
This was excellent to listen to during lockdown, so glad it's still up :) I've listened and seen so many adaptations and remember thoroughly enjoying this one
My parents had this on tape, we used to listen to it in the car when I was little, remember it fondly, really good to listen to while doing uni work, still entertaining all these years later. Thanks for the upload
I couldn't agree more! Both with your thanks for the upload and with missing the great Richard Briers! This version is so incredibly good. So many different voices, all done so perfectly. This is the one I grew up with and now any other version sounds somehow wrong!
Thank you for posting this!I agree with you both: John petley-jones and Jennifer mcdonald I absolutely adore this reading I hope this you tuber gets far in life
This truly is one of the classics! With Richard Briers as narrator it is perfection. What an enormous shame the story is abridged, some of the best parts are missing, and now it can never be remedied. Every single word of this marvellous book is a gem, not one of them can be omitted without loss. Thank you very much for uploading this great book
Fine performance: This classic tale is both wonderful for adults or children. I find it sad however after so many auditions I'm the only other person who's made a comment. Sign of the times for sure.

I was school age when I heard this for the first time and it's been with me for the rest of my life. I hope it'll be with you for the rest of yours. It's over a hundred years old and is only made better by watching it performed on a stage. I'm really glad you're enjoying it 😊
This is pretty good. Briers' great masterpiece performance was Bertie Wooster on BBC radio. Sadly, not nearly as many as I wish there had been. Only 17 hours. Wish it was 1700 hours.
Really helps with my anxiety trying to get to sleep at night, I'm 36 and know your never to old to have a story read to you

I read The Wind in the Willows to my sister, once a year. This has been abridged, but the narrator is terrific.
I’m loving this narration. It’s very slow paced and calming

it's not slow-paced at all, it's too fast. it sounds like it's sped up.
