The changes seem reasonable, combat should have a greater effect on war progress. The orthrus payouts were kind of silly
Finaly Fdev has listened and changed many things which had anoyed the community for more than a year by this point.
I´ve been fighting in this war since the beginning and I sencerely hope that this war now sees more combat instead of probing...
And the payouts have been raised back to the "original" amounts except for the Orthrus of course which should be a bit lower still. Around 5 mil would be great especially if compare it with a cyclopse and the amount it take to take it down.
Basicly it is a blessing, a lost hope reneawed that those things are chaneged now, so good Fdev for ignoring us for 1 1/2 years but these changes are welcomed.

So to be clear is this a nerf to combat rewards or a buff? I've seen a lot of people on discord going crazy over the changes, very upset and calling them nerfs. I haven't done any combat yet, been planning to but keep getting sidetracked and haven't made it back to the bubble from Colonia yet, been out there over a year now, was meant to be a short stay lol.
@@KakavashaForever In terms of combat bonds the Orhtrus is a much needed nerf. 40 mil was just to much without any difficulty.
For the other Interceptors their rewards have been "buffed" to the rewards they gave before the war.
Thargoid Interceptors had 3 changes to their rewards over the years. First as they came out from 2 mil for a cyclops to 8 mil. Since the war the rewars were reduced to 6.5mil and now back to 8mil Credits.
Hope that anwser the question
Has anyone noticed that now after the launch of the new ship they release a small patch every week?
This seems like a good sign from fd to me.
it is a very good sign - I just hope this cadence continues
Only the second Titan i have been able to participate on. When i got home from work and just 2 hours after the maintenance had ended, the first heart was below 50%. I did a few runs in my new solo pythone bomber (build courtesy of AXI) and then went to sleep. Wake up 7 hours later to find the 3rd heart almost done. Switched to my Krait because i find it more comfortable on bombing than the P2. Didn't get any damage into 3rd heart before it went down. Did a few runs on the 4th, then went to work. I fear that there won't be any hearts left when i get off work at the progression rate already seen.
I think, FDEV finally understands that doing stupid game loops like the tissue sampling to progress in the war effort isn't fun and try to push people to other more interesting game play like spire site sabotage. Nerving the Orthus payout makes sense, they are easy to destroy with low risk of loosing your ship, so they should not get 40M combat bonds. As for the other variants, FDEV increased the payout to the original ones at least for the Cyclopse, this one was 8M before it was reduced to 6.5M. All in all this is a good sign, that FDEV wants to keep the game alive and starts listening to the player base. Thanks for the update Cmdr
Tip of the day::
When you have good AND bad news, you may want to start with the bad news first, and then try to cheer people up with the good news.
They information given to you last will usually be the most dominant one. ^^
That being said:
Yeah, the Orthrus nerf was long overdue, but I would have appreciated it if they only slashed the bounty in half, instead of this odd 62.5% nerf. ;)

It was a long time coming
This sort of sounds like they want players more involved in the war vs just (as i've observed) showing up for the 40 mill farm after other players did all the hard work. I think they might want to also speed things up a bit to make sure the war doesn't cut into the roll out of the new power play.
I agree
Currently racing to the spire from Colonia, i have enough for 20 years of upkeep but money always talks😂
All I know Orthruses are hard to catch with a slow ship, but not much harder to take down than a Glaive once you get them engaged. Having troubles with instancing, I restrict my war effort to Cyclops and an occasional Basilisk. For newer soldiers I strongly suggest finding some experienced commanders as team mates going against Medusas or Hydras. The starter build is enough for Glaives, Scythes, probably Orthruses and Cyclops, alone or with npc help, and be absolute hell against a Basilisk, tested by converting my regular PvE Chieftain to a bit similar build.
check out my anti Orthorus build
barely anyone knows this, but the plural of Orthrus is Orthroi !
@@PDJazzHands I was not aware
You also can do Hydras with pre-engineered guardian shards... with no risk of them melting... Orthros is only for people who bothered going to collect materials from titans as they require you do the new anti corrosion engineering (using materials from titan) I'd rather fight Hydras all day long than be bothered to go collecting materials.
Hi since the the up date can't make any jumps lol
This sounds very interesting, but as a "new" player - I came back to the about month ago - I find it very hard to figure out how I could get involved with Thargoids content. Any ideas or suggestions?
Well there is a AX ship in the store to help you get back into the swing
Easiest place afaik to start with thargoid content are the destroyed Titans. You do not need to fight there, and NPCs can help a lot. Get the enhanced xeno scanner, thargoid pulse neutralizer, and follow the AX pilot NPCs. Meta-alloys are present.
Some good, not sure making the near system be same and distance ones. Feels a bit easier mode
Whelp, time to go spire farming for my billions before payout reduces...guess my weekend is set
I am a little bit confused in your video did you say the Titan requirements to get the Titan rewards remains unchanged or subject to change
the same
Would this change retro actively apply to already earned combat bonds for killed goids of any flavor?
Doubt it
Yeah, but, suspiciously, I've been getting issues where my game crashes whenever I play this morning, I think the server maintenance explains why my game crashes every morning at 6 Am
I had a few over the weekend
Where did you get this info ?
Web
Should I care? Probably. Will I? No.
The Orthrus payouts have had it coming. The other bounty contracts have just gone back to older values.
It was only a matter of time
Orthrus nerf is well deserved
They did this because the war is not that interesting.
I think they want to release pp2
I cant get far enough away from their current idea of gameplay. Talk about flogging a dead horse.
Booo for the Orthrus changes. Spent a bit of time and made my first billion that way with the limited time I had to play. People are going to swarm the spire sites to cash up before the changes take effect.
Yep, Ionce hadad goes
Making a billion should take more than 1hr mate. This is a good change.
Typical Frontier updates, the nerfs! and buffs!
Don't you lose the bonds if you are destroyed in the Titan maelstrom ?
Thargoid war bonds are retained upon ship destruction.
