    Wish I was in your boots, so jealous of your experience. BUT I'm so happy you love what you're doing and plan on doing it for a long time. The Air Force seems like a career that you will strive in. Congrats on your year.

      Seth Blackburn: Thank you for your quick reply. Sorry, but, I am an old-school AF veteran (Vietnam era) so, I don't understand the term "DEP". Is that a good or bad thing? I have, recently, been watching a lot of RUclips videos describing current activities of new AF recruits and I came across your comment but, I have a hard time recognizing a lot of the jargon used to describe modern training terminology. Please describe your current situation. Maybe, I might have some advice you could use. Thanks.

      DEP is the Delayed Entry Program. That means I'm waiting my job and ship date

      Thanks for the clarification. Please, keep me posted about your progress. That may be difficult once you actually get into BMT but, I would like to follow your progress. Once you arrive at BMT, my advice is to keep your mouth shut, follow orders, and do everything quickly. The first few days will seem to be hell but, you will be fine.

    Having watched all your videos and seeing your personal progression and journey from civilian to Airman is crazy. Seeing how you love what you're doing just makes me proud as an American. I have a ton of friends in the AF and some of them hate it so much that they're counting down the days. I'm glad to see you're keeping your head up and level. You're keeping perspective with where you are in life right now. Honestly, I couldn't imagine you as a regular run-of-the-mill factory robot. You're doing what you love, and that's sick. It's honestly making me stoked for my future, and I can't wait to see where I'll be.

    I'm glad you love it. I don't hate it, been in for 5 years, maintainer, and have had some real fucking high workloads and deployed to the dessert more than once. I would hate it if I weren't so jaded and broken on the inside, but I have kids now and basically need to stay in. If you could give advice to someone, tell them this: Stay in DEP for as long as possible in order to get a job that isn't maintenance or being a cop. Because you're sitting here saying you aren't getting yelled at all the time, well son, maintainers are screamed at constantly at certain bases (fighter jet bases) and it really sucks when you deploy every year guaranteed. You're still a youngin my friend. What AFSC are you?

      SmallGirl_VS_BigMountains hi, I just enlisted after a year, I also had med issues that I had to get waviered. Its tough, but if they truly arent bothering u, like not an issue at all and where a doc can sign u off, I would try it. It took a year for me due to the waiting for them and the appointments, I dont regret it and if it's possible for u, try it. Its hard, frustrating and the hardest thing I've done thus far, but if all ends well its worth it, even trying is worth it because at least u tried. If u can, please try. Any questions feel free to ask me, it was a long process and I can probably get u in the right direction without the BS they will try telling u 😁

      Don Rumsey he's almost done! And not entirely, depends if people can identify it. If they don't know what they're looking at then I' doubt it. Especially since we are not the only people who fly this particular aircraft. And if they can I would hope people have the decency to respect that I don't disclose my location for a reason. I served in the USAF, it was a great experience. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard either. BMT physical training, if you are right our of high school, your fitness in USAF PT will be about average. If you have been out of high school a few years, Id be running everyday, to get into some shape before you get to BMT. IF you have a chip on your should about anything, you will be bounced OUT... You have have a problem with race, you will be bounced OUT. There is no time for that in the USAF.

    • @Z3CHYD
      @Z3CHYD 7 лет назад

      Martin Productions I'm sure it just depends on the location/job probably. I was in England outside on the flightline and it got pretty cold, hence we all got issued cold weather gear. Now I'm in North Carolina and got issued more, but again, flightline can get pretty cold lol. I wish I picked an indoor job but oh well I guess, 2 more years left of my 6 year contract

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  7 лет назад +3

      Z3CHYD oh it's entirely dependent on that. I work inside so it's not necessary for me to have it. But in my opinion it looks nice and since I have to walk everywhere I figure why not?

What kind of knowledge should we know of ahead of time and prepare for? I’m doing research on both right now but am leaning towards the Air Force if I am qualified 😭

  • @LilTwin818
    @LilTwin818 5 лет назад +1

    Same here! I am still doing my research and videos likes these are so helpful! I am currently in college (I graduate in May) and I plan to go to OTS and go in as an officer and work as an engineer in the Air Force. I saw on some videos saying that prior to OTS or basic training, you have to pay for your uniform. (One youtuber said their uniform came up to $3,000). Did you have to pay for your uniform/supplies and if someone doesn't have that kind of money to pay for their uniform is there like a credit card that they can issue to us or some way that we can pay for it later? Thanks!!

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  5 лет назад +2

      Michel'le enlisted don’t have to pay for their uniforms. Supplies at basic yes. Officers from what I heard do, but $3k seems excessive. I’ll ask some officers I know and get back to you

    Does it say in regs that you have to wear the fleece on top of your blouse? If not, I'd try it under the top. Fleece is supposed to touch your skin to be most effective. It'll look funny but it'll also work better.

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  7 лет назад +2

      TK Kotrch no, you can join wanting a certain job and go in with it if you get it while waiting. In the DEP but until you take the ASVAB or go through MEPS there's no guarantee you'll qualify medically of mentally. So you can want it but there's no promise until then. But there's never a promise you'll qualify. Also, the army is lying is to you. They can't tell you qualify for ANYTHING until you've taken the ASVAB or MEPS. I'm not telling you what to do... but I'm giving you a hint on what you should do here if you're picking up what I'm laying down

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  6 лет назад +2

      John Pisanchik think of it this way my new friend, you’re not alone and you’re not the first person to ever go through it. Just search Air Force members and you’ll think to yourself “..dang he/she made it?.. so can I” and that’s all you need. It may seem like a mountain, but it’s a small hill at best. Now this is what I tell people, do NOT go in there thinking you deserve or are entitled to anything. You aren’t, you are lower than the dirt on the ground and that is just how it is. Your job is to train, at that time you’re being PAID to train. So do it, do what your told. Don’t talk back and you’ll be fine. I did it, so can you my friend

    • @johnpisanchik5371
      @johnpisanchik5371 6 лет назад

      Martin Productions thanks so much. This does help a lot. I’m going in with the frame of mind that I know nothing and that’s what the MTIs are there for...to train myself and the rest of my flight. I’m not one to talk back to someone so saying “yes sir/maam” comes very easily for me. I’m also going in with the frame of mind of serving my country not a career. Of course if things go well on my first contract I’ll absolutely make a career out of it and I’m doing everything I can to get a head start before I make it to BMT. Anyway, I’ll try to keep you posted on how things go at MEPs. I’m sure I’ll be fine and make it through BMT like everyone before me.

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  7 лет назад +2

      kevin smith I can't tell you about the EOC, that'd be test compromise. But trust me, it's me of the easiest test you'll ever take. And if you fail you'll retest. And I broke down every week in my old videos and we talked about EVERYTHING you do. So check those out, if you don't have time. It was easy overall

    Martin Productions If you come in with a AA degree, do you still have to get your CCAF?

    • @MartinProductions

      Hayden Pace regardless of your degree, you should get your CCAF.

    • @Hayden__Pace

      Martin Productions does the CCAF help with making rank or is it just a requirement?

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  6 лет назад

      Hayden Pace yes it helps with rank and if you don’t get it, you’ll be looked down on for not. So I’ll say this, suck it up and get it

      If you go in with an AA it's super easy to get your CCAF. You can CLEP most classes.

      Well I like the Army but I have always had more of a liking for the Air Force. I joined the Army because at the time I decided Air Force over Army my paperwork was already done and I didn't want to restart all that progress.

      My personal and professional goals would be more suited to be completed in the Air Force.
