@@dgcxb oh my goodness ! I’m having a huge review of his career and it's his resonance and the lower notes of his register that are thrilling me the most. Different tastes I guess. There are nasal sounding countertenors in the soprano range but Max is a mezzo so this just amazes me
This is one most incredible, and deeply touching of arias I must admit. There is not much going on but the atmosphere cast while singing can speak of so much more, bravo guys :)
I love this version and find their choices musically so intoxicating compared to other versions. I genuinely found that they mastered the technical challenge of the singing but also pulled off a very convincing performance of the eroticism of the scene without every being cringey. I show this to students over other versions for this reason.

Now I have found: "Die wundervollen, sich umschlingenden Linien dieses Duetts könnte auch Monteverdis jüngerer Zeitgenosse Rigatti komponiert haben, weil der alte Maestro seine letzte Oper selbst nicht mehr hat vollenden können, doch ist dies eine unbewiesene Behauptung."
That's not proved. If it is so, it is wonderful music of Rigatti. :-)

Chi scegliete tra i controtenori Cencic, Kangmin, Orlinski e Jaroussky? Io ritengo Cencic il migliore per il ruolo di Nerone. Ma Fagioli ha mai ricoperto ruolo di Nerone?

Cencic and Orlinski cannot sing Nerone properly because they aren't high counters. Their range is very limited. Nerone is very high. Not here but the rest of the score.
