One of the things I have been meaning to say about recent videos is about the old US school buses. They are my abiding memory of Chihuahua in 1992 and 1993. I am amazed that they are still there so many year later. Old US school buses were ubiquitous in Lima when I first went in 1995 and are rare these days. I have also never seen them in the other parts of Mexico that I have been to. It makes me a little bit happier to know that there is still somewhere where they are used as public buses!

I no longer live in CD Obregón, the city where I was born, and even so, I found out about a foreigner who made a video there! How small is the world hahaha I'm glad you liked my city, thanks!
Hey thanks, Alamos is unlikely, more touristic places and Pueblo mágico videos generally don't do well for me because many videos already exist on RUclips. And the bus schedule is ridiculous. There will be ones from Navojoa, Guaymas, San Carlos, Cocorit and Hermosillo though After all these years my tastes have really changed from mágico to less mágico jaja
@davidostrowski679 It's as I've always said, you visit one, you've visited them all (Los pueblo magicos). Loved seeing the city that saw me grow up in a video, it's refreshing.
how excited I am!! Where you presented your video you can see a small tree which I planted just a few days ago, it would have been a good coincidence that I would have been planting it in your video hahaha
17:57 Hi my friend jeje Im from Obregon I saw your video and is very good jeje time before I usually walked just when youare placed, I usually crossed street in there place when you are placed xD
That was awesome!! I wish I could go down there to visit and see where my ancestors came from. Flowers are a big thing to Yaquis, I'm not surprised that you came across such beautiful flowers dotted across the landscape. Also, you definitely pass as Mexican. You look so similar to my brother in law, who's full blood and white as paper lol. He's an accomplished artist and professor in Italy!
¡OH SI!

HI!!!! this is the first video that came across from Cd Obregon and you; I really enjoyed it. I used to live there and I love it, you missed the Nieve de Pitaya (dragon fruit sherbet) though. Also one thing that we do have as mexicans from any region is that you don't have to be born mexican, to feel mexican (if that makes sense lol) I have a lot of friends that came to love so much my country that they just began to call themselves mexicans (even they clearly "dont look mexican" lol) and that makes me really proud of my people and my culture. I live in the city now, but if you ever need a non certified but highly place experienced person, that is me.
No me perderé tus vídeos!
I agree completely with your last statement. It happens alot when people go to South Texas (like San Antonio) and try Tex-Mex food and say "that's not mexican food". Sure, not like what you might find in mexico city, but the food is made by mexicans or people of mexican descent; and sure the food might have been adapted to use local ingredients or flavors... and is influenced by other cultures and history... but isn't that true of all food in every region in mexico?
THIS!! You just summed it up much better than I ever could. EXACTLY! I must admit, before I ever came to the north, I was of the view that 'burritos aren't Mexican!'. I still make that differentiation in my head between tex-mex and mex, but as you say, it's of Mexican origin + influence. Sometimes when filming I think, 'should I include a flour tortilla, burrito or hot dog? People are going to say this isn't Mexican food'. IT IS THOUGH! It's like certain Indian or Chinese dishes I used to get in the UK. They may not be typically 'authentic' but are still Indian or Chinese, most likely made by people of descent! Thanks for the input! Love this!
@@davidostrowski679Who tell you burritos and floor tortillas aren't mexican? Burritos and floor tortillas are from northern Mexican states, try the burritos from Hermosillo Sonora the best in the world .
It's pretty awesome that someone goes to my home land and said so many great things about it!! Thanks for that!! I love the video keep the awesome work!! PS. Actually the Hot dos are considered a typical food on Obregón
coyotas looked wonderful and I love cajeta, but I don't doubt that the lechera is also fantastic. I've never seen them in central Mexico, but will make sure to look out for them when I return later this year. Another awesome video!!
neither have I man! I actually cut a bit out where I said has anyone seen them anywhere else, I never have but then again I wasn't looking for them! When researching I messaged a few people in CDMX but they hadn't heard of them either.
@@davidostrowski679 I have had a dozen different empanadas and tamales but I may have to travel to Obregon just for the coyotas. Need to add it to my bucket list.
The coyotas are from Sonora state, and they not popular in other parts of México, but they very popular in southern Arizona specially in Tucson as well as the Sonora dogs, wich is the hot dogs like the one in the video made by Sonoran immigrants at hot dog stands in Tucson and Phoenix.
Hola! New to the channel, a friend of mine posted/shared the video in his socials, for me, as a native of this city, your perspective is so refreshing, I mean, sometimes we kind of lose sight of the places, avenues and overall enchanting Things the place has to offer, I feel so appreciatative of your wonderful vídeo, keep up the awesome work My friend, so glad You enjoyed your visit, gotta love the coyotas!!
Hey Carlos! Thanks for the awesome comment and I'm glad you liked it! I absolutely know what you mean. We can become so familiar with the place we are from that we easily become blind. I'm the same with London. It's easy to only see negative aspects but an outsider's point of view often reminds me of the good points!
Excellent video! You always pack so much into your videos. Loved seeing the different areas of the city. Jamaica agua fresca is so delicious and refreshing!
Great video. Your dialogue/commentary/drone shots/editing and overall genuine enthusiasm made what doesn't appear to be a particularly appealing destination into an entertaining and educational video. I feel like I know Obregon, at least a little now, and I don't have to go. Brilliant! In one of your upcoming videos, you should hit some local bars for happy hour and knock back a few cold chelas with the people. That might be interesting in a locale like Sonora.
The Sonoran desert is HOT this time of year. I'm in Phx. Az where it's 104 F, Obregon is 97 F and Vallarta is 84 F - show how you can go South to Cool Weather!!!
I can definitely be a struggle. I've never had a Spanish lesson and as you can see in videos my sentence structure is non-existent but I can communicate in a basic sense. Immersion is the key!
David, you do have the balls to show this part of Mexico like no one else! Thank you for that Sir! I have to say that the city has lost a lot of its charming through the last years derived of very bad municipality administrations. But still love it (just not in summer 😁) Great food and great outdoors spots to enjoy. Ciudad Obregón has the great title to be the second most violent city of the WORLD. Nevertheless everytime we visit it to meet both my wife's and my parents we don't feel that vibe. We live in San Carlos.
Hey man! Glad you enjoyed! I'm with you on the food. I was in Obregón for 4 weeks and of course this video was only one afternoon so I had some amazing food the rest of the time. I didn't get a chance to visit Asadero del Valle, but every time I walked past... omg the smell! Amazing
Yeah a lot of viewers always seem to think i showed up and left on the same day LOL. I used Obregón as a base because booking a month on Airbnb results in a discount
I really apreciate the time you took to make my city to look awesome.... when its not. I hope the holes on the streets didnt damage your, probably, rental car. I really hope you didnt get robbed, since the great levels of insecurity we have. Im glad tho, you didnt decide to go out at night, because you know, the shootings we suffer everyday, kind like the ones at yout schools in USA. Im even more surprised you didnt witness one at plain daylight. But for real, glad you came to visit us, hope your visit was a good one.
Hey man I was in Obregon for 4 weeks and this was only afternoon lol so I did go out at night many times but didn't experience of witness anything like that. I've heard shootings and seen a drive by once in CDMX but fortunately didn't see anything in Obregon. I used to go food shopping at Ley in Centro (you know the one? and sometimes walking back at like 9pm was a bit sketchy but it's no more sketchy than where I grew up, I saw more police tape there! lol. Oh and no I didn't have a rental car, as I said I was there for a month so there was no need
You know now David that in the north Hot Dogs are a thing also Burgers, also on the subject of you looking mexican in the north of mexico there is a lot more mexicans with european ancenstry than in the rest of the country and I am an example of one of them. I have spanish and german ancestry and im white like you. I feel mexican is more a way of acting more than your skin color or racial features. And that also varies between the different regions.
Exactly! Skin colour has nothing to do with it, I know plenty of white Mexicans. I remember the first street burger I had, I think in Tlaxcala. Who knew a million salsas on a burger or hot dog could be so good lol

Glad you enjoyed man! I like to highlight these lesser known cities!
I just watched your obregon vid, nice work! Are you going to Alamos? Just 1 hr drive from Obregon, beatiful real colonial small town! Tons of history!
Hey thanks, Alamos is unlikely, more touristic places and Pueblo mágico videos generally don't do well for me because many videos already exist on RUclips. And the bus schedule is ridiculous. There will be ones from Navojoa, Guaymas, San Carlos, Cocorit and Hermosillo though
After all these years my tastes have really changed from mágico to less mágico jaja
@davidostrowski679 It's as I've always said, you visit one, you've visited them all (Los pueblo magicos).
Loved seeing the city that saw me grow up in a video, it's refreshing.
Been a fan of your uniqueness. Many thanks for great videos.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoy!
I will miss your gritty, educational & ,entertaining posts..and your American accent..I wish you every happiness and success in you next chapter🌴
Thanks Mary! Still a long way to go though!
I like how you document those not so tourist places. Bravo and keep going vamos
No me perdí nada.
I miss Obregón so much, people, the food, those colorful sunsets
how excited I am!! Where you presented your video you can see a small tree which I planted just a few days ago, it would have been a good coincidence that I would have been planting it in your video hahaha
Dios mío that's amazing!
You are inteligent and also very brite.Nice place.!!!!!!!!
I'm not often called that so gracias Maria!
@@davidostrowski679you should try taqueria *el taquero or "los perche hermanos" behind mcdonald's 👌
David you are Aersome.

Mexicans will always give you a hand. you are home.

Thanks! Hopefully I can do some more walking videos soon!
HI!!!! this is the first video that came across from Cd Obregon and you; I really enjoyed it.
I used to live there and I love it, you missed the Nieve de Pitaya (dragon fruit sherbet) though. Also one thing that we do have as mexicans from any region is that you don't have to be born mexican, to feel mexican (if that makes sense lol)
I have a lot of friends that came to love so much my country that they just began to call themselves mexicans (even they clearly "dont look mexican" lol) and that makes me really proud of my people and my culture.
I live in the city now, but if you ever need a non certified but highly place experienced person, that is me.
Gracias! Guess what, dragon fruit nieves is on my food list for future videos :-) I think I planned it in for San Carlos or Navojoa. NIEVES IS LIFE!!
Love this!
👏👏👏
@@davidostrowski679Who tell you burritos and floor tortillas aren't mexican? Burritos and floor tortillas are from northern Mexican states, try the burritos from Hermosillo Sonora the best in the world .
It's pretty awesome that someone goes to my home land and said so many great things about it!! Thanks for that!! I love the video keep the awesome work!!
PS. Actually the Hot dos are considered a typical food on Obregón
Thanks Elika glad you liked it!
coyotas looked wonderful and I love cajeta, but I don't doubt that the lechera is also fantastic.
They are damn good
The coyotas are from Sonora state, and they not popular in other parts of México, but they very popular in southern Arizona specially in Tucson as well as the Sonora dogs, wich is the hot dogs like the one in the video made by Sonoran immigrants at hot dog stands in Tucson and Phoenix.
Omg hun after the day in the sun that Jamaica was like a refreshing gift from the Lord himself! Lol
A mí me encanta Cd. Obregón (a pesar de la inseguridad). Desde niño anhelaba con vivir aquí.
LOVE YOUR VIDS, AND THE PLACES U GO DIFFERENT ,WAY COOL THANKS TTD
Great video. Your dialogue/commentary/drone shots/editing and overall genuine enthusiasm made what doesn't appear to be a particularly appealing destination into an entertaining and educational video. I feel like I know Obregon, at least a little now, and I don't have to go. Brilliant! In one of your upcoming videos, you should hit some local bars for happy hour and knock back a few cold chelas with the people. That might be interesting in a locale like Sonora.
ty for seeing my city
nice work!
I lived there for 5 years now I just go visit my grandma every year when I can
hello you would have come to San Ignacio Río Muerto is almost to one side of Sonora you have beautiful beaches
The Sonoran desert is HOT this time of year. I'm in Phx. Az where it's 104 F, Obregon is 97 F and Vallarta is 84 F - show how you can go South to Cool Weather!!!
Yep it's a killer! I don't envy you in Phoenix!
i am Canadian and wish i could go to some of these cities with you lol - only been to CDMX
I'm sure you'll get an opportunity! I should be in CDMX in a couple of weeks although only briefly
@@davidostrowski679 i think its the lack of spanish skills that makes me apprehensive
I can definitely be a struggle. I've never had a Spanish lesson and as you can see in videos my sentence structure is non-existent but I can communicate in a basic sense. Immersion is the key!
If you go to Sonora just be ready for the heat in case you go on summer, it may get above 50 Celsius degrees
Amazing
@@davidostrowski679 4 weeks!! Awesome!
Yeah a lot of viewers always seem to think i showed up and left on the same day LOL. I used Obregón as a base because booking a month on Airbnb results in a discount
Saludos desde Ciudad Obregón Sonora
Yo soy de Obregón y me gusto tu video
You know now David that in the north Hot Dogs are a thing also Burgers, also on the subject of you looking mexican in the north of mexico there is a lot more mexicans with european ancenstry than in the rest of the country and I am an example of one of them. I have spanish and german ancestry and im white like you. I feel mexican is more a way of acting more than your skin color or racial features. And that also varies between the different regions.
Exactly! Skin colour has nothing to do with it, I know plenty of white Mexicans. I remember the first street burger I had, I think in Tlaxcala. Who knew a million salsas on a burger or hot dog could be so good lol
your accent is so beautiful, greettings from obregón.
Nice video david, i really enjoy your information about the places that you visit, you should eat carne asada there because is delicious, i will be waiting for your next video to watch it, have a nice day ✌🏻🙂
Alien with a dog. hahjahah you made my day amigo.
Hey David I just to go there few times a yr for about 2 yrs I drive every time from Santa Barbara California to ciudad Obregón it took me around 16 hrs to drive there I had a girlfriend there but after a while dint work out she live in Calle Morelia between Allende and Miguel alemán that was around 10 yrs ago u shall try the seafood there u will love it great video !!
awesome miguel, I am close to exploding due to the amount of mariscos and carne I'm having, I don't have a large stomach so I can only do it sparingly! There's an amazing smelling carne restaurant where I'm staying, Asadero del Valle I think. I will try it next week.
