Love your attitude is great how positive and kind and respectful you are
I want to know more about the water...? Is it true you should not even use it to clean your teeth?
What is the name of town you are living? It looks soo nice
@@Syl-Vee esas playas tienen certificado mundial de limpieza, muchas en México lo son.
It's really just unbelievable how today Mexico and the U.S. take care of the people that lives in their territory:
In Mexico the Actual Government created an every month social money help program that means that Mexican older people receive e directly every month the necessary amount of money to live without suffering from stress of not having a job or somebody to help them out or because their age that means that every single old Mexican person no matter their marital status, political ideology, gender, religion, etc,, they'll receive every single month enough money to live Maybe not a luxurious lifestyle but yes in a descent way ,
>>>>>>farmers receive the necessary amount of money they need to become their own bosses in their homeland so they don't have to emigrate to the U.S. the necessary amount of money by the Mexican Government in a credit with interest up to 25 years to payback ,and without sign no contract so in case they can't repay for a credible real reason they Will not lose their land
The Entire Education is Free even at university level plus students also receive monthly monetary help to cover up to %80 of School books and all that needed
>And people with disabilities in need also receive monthly monetary help and %95 of all Mexican workers at all levels in private and public sectors are registered and have free health care at all time nationwide
>>> Mexican President AMLO and his administration keep in the Mexicans Government control the essential key sectors of Energy like oil, gas and electricity that way they guaranteed that the price of Gasoline, Gas and electricity stays low and accessible for all people, this are some examples to name a few about what a real government that take care for the citizens of the nation works and in the international level
MEXICAN government creating alliances to fight Poverty inequality and inflation
And always promoting a peace way to end the war in Ukraine
In the other side the U.S.
Promoting ,supporting and financing More war MORE THOUSANDS of human deaths more, increasing billions and billions of dollars for the U.S. military death killer machine industry ,but nothing for the poorest Americans families,
The USA government gave $120 billion dollars to Ukraine in help but $0 dollars to help homeless people every single day hundreds of entire american families become homeless but no help for them
The US government in this last 3 weeks gave for free more than $400 billion dollars to USA private banks because they were almost bankrupted because they bad and corrupt administration,
But Zero $0 dollars for Education ,ZERO$0 DOLLARS to help old people without no Medicare
This is how different are this 2 governments and how they threat their own people this are facts REALITY 😥😥
Would love to have Russell for a neighbor. What a great guy! Love how he understands that he must adapt to local culture, not the other way around. Fantastic human.
I am a Canadian and have been living in Mexico for 6 years . Russell has the best and most realistic attitude of any video about moving to Mexico I have seen. And I've watched a lot. Fabulous job Russell. Enjoy your new life in paradise ❤
Well said!
Totally agree with the Canadian!!! Russel rocks.
Where do you live Audrey if I may ask? We are getting very close in time to visiting and considering Mexico for early retirement.
Enjoyed your video very much! I'll be exploring various places in Mexico to figure out where to settle once my Permanent Residency paperwork is finalized. Huatulco is definitely on my list 🎉

❤Love love Russell, makes me want to go back and rent a place, stay there for a while, also love Russell’s attitude, wonderful person!
He’s truly inspiring
Russell, you are exactly the type of person that is a gift to be around :) It was a joy discovering you today!
Isn’t he amazing?
Russell has such a great attitude about life and living the dream in his new community. Great video!
He really does
YES! Positive, friendly, fun attitude spins the axis of this Planet.
WHAT A NICE GUY, GOD BLESS HIM!
After watching your video I started considering to visit Huatulco very soon, recently retired, December 2022 from Dallas, TX and currently residing in Monterrey, it's nice here but it's a huge city with terrible traffic and I need a more peaceful life, and been thinking about moving to a small beach town, thank you for the information Russell. Best wishes for your retirement life and Viva Mexico!! Nice to see how you're embracing the wonderful culture and Mexican hospitality.
What a terrific fella! Seriously, he has a huge heart and he's not afraid to share it.
He's terrific for sure!
Finally someone who respects the locals and wants to be part of the culture and not live and hang with expats
There are many people who live by these rules. Maybe you’re not meeting them but there are more foreigners living by these rules than not
I would do the same! So important to respect the people and culture where you live and to learn the language to the best of one’s ability as well!
It would be nice if we had that here in the U.S.
@JT G Yes! That is something that is severely lacking in the U.S.
It's funny how those in Mexico complain about Americans but those that go to America from Mexico completely disregard the customs and traditions there.
@@airtechmech6681 what is severely lacking too in the US is the unwillingness of Americans to let people of other skin colors feel part of the community where they live don't matter how hard we try ,from my own experience I can't even remember how many times I was denied a greeting back when I said good morning or hello to people and how many Americans gave me a hard or disgusted look just for being in there line of sight I even remember people asking to seat in another table because of some brown people seated to close to them
That was delightful. Everyone needs a “Russell” in their neighbourhood!
Agree 😃
Be the "Russell" I wish to see is my new motto.
I've been in San Miguel de Allende for 3 months and prior to that in Lake Chapala for a couple. I've always lived on the ocean. I commercial fished in Alaska when I was young and it's a passion of mine. I now own a house on the Oregon Coast that I just leased for a year. You've inspired me to take a trip to the area and check it out! thank you very much!! Great video, and I'm get a little tired of them all! ;)
Glad you enjoyed it Deborah

Exactly! The only danger I’ve ever encountered in Mexico was their sidewalks. I feel safer walking in Mexico than I do in the United States. I’ve never eaten, fresher or better produce.
I moved to México 5 Years ago. And the produce and meat are great!
😊yes the sidewalks are not your friend. I have walk right pass where I was going because I was looking down lol
Wow, Russell has the perfect attitude for living in Mexico! It's wonderful to see.
I am relocating to another city in Mexico but I do have to say Mr Russell the information you shared is very much on point.
Glad you found your happy place.
Thanks for watching
So happy he has no complaints like other expats. This video is very important for me.
I know, and they complain about sooo many tourists...😅😊😂
Thank you for helping me realize and restore the faith that Americans have values and are compassionate caring people
I was in Huatulco, many years ago my friend and me ate fresh lobster every day !!
We visit Puerto Escondido, it was a virgin beach, beautiful
Russell did a great job! I am not looking to move to Mexico, but I enjoy watching your videos and hearing from the folks that have moved there. This is also a great way to learn about a city and decide if I want to visit. I visited the city of Oaxaca about 20 yrs ago and loved it. The Bahia de Huatulco will be next.
You made me cry Russell. Your attitude is so refreshing. I lived in Mexico (Yucatan) for a couple years back in 1997. Loved it. I am trying to decide between Mazatlan and Hualtuco now. At 71 (feeling 50ish) I want to be outside as much as possible and heard that Mazatlan is a lot cooler than Huatulco. I plan to move down from Wa. later this year. Thank you so much for your video. I can't wait to get there!!
Mazatlan isn’t cooler than Huatulco. But I guess it just depends on whose asking. They are both very warm/hot areas 😃
Why did you leave the Yucatan?
What I love about Mazatlán is that you have a large malecón to walk or ride a bike, also the people in Mazatlán is incredible happy and welcoming.
And the cherry on top is that if you get bored of the beach you have pine forests and snow areas and cabins to rent about just hours away.
Thank you for this excellent video. (You left the USA just 2 months before I did. The lockdown started 5 days after my departure.) I've been in four countries in Latin America. Mexico is my next destination, though I think I like a cooler climate than Huatulco. I agree wholeheartedly with your attitude about living with the locals and enjoying the differences. Thanks.
Russell has such great energy. Must be a pleasure to spend time with.
He’s an awesome guy
I wanna have some cervezas and hang out with Russel. 👍 Another great vid, Mariana!
It makes me happy that people from other countries like to live in Mexico and show us the Mexicans all the nice and wonderful things, places, food, etc that we have in Mexico. As Mexicans, sometimes we forget about it.
Yes- please don't ever take our wonderful Mexico for granted. Thanks for watching
I have loved Mexico since I visited as a child and studied at unam in Mex city.have lived here for 9 years .still love it.
Not "THE" mexicans just mexicans.😅
We love Huatulco! We come down regularly. That’s my kids and me getting coffee at about 1:53. Small world.
I live in Thailand I believe it is similar in cost. If I was to do it over I would probably try Mexico. Mexico is closer to the US and the time zones are more in line. Here in Thailand the distance and time zones are not convenient at all, other than that I am happy here. You put together a great video Russ.
Thailand is currently about 50% cheaper than the US and Mexico is about 25% cheaper, according to cost of living research. Generally, the cost of living follows the same as the difference in currency rates. So lower exchange rate, also lower cost of living. That has been my experience in these two countries, anyway.
I’m in synch with your expat philosophy. Walking everywhere is the best way. Glad you are helping the local people with the Rotary Club volunteers. We all need a sense of purpose. Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta are nice, but I look for a place with a more local demographic. The Mexican people are wonderfully traditional with family and loyalty. I hope their traditions can be preserved. Thanks!
Love that! Remember that Mexico is still Mexico. Even in the touristic towns- the Mexican culture is still very present. You just have to look for it more. Luckily there are more less touristic in places than the reverse 😌
Hello Rusell, My name is Anabel from Argentina. I truly enjoyed your video. So simple, so honest, so realistic and humble. Thanks for sharing! Keep on enjoying your life in Mexico!
My husband and I visited Huatulco and agree, Huatulco is the place to be. Thanks for sharing too. Hope your doing well. We hope to be there again September 2023 and check out some rentals.
I love his attitude! that is the best way to be in another country, especially if you, have moved somewhere else! It is exactly the best thing to do,,: to embrace your new city, the new culture and get envolved with people. Congratulations he is a great human being.
I love to see people enjoying their life and where they're at. I'm working on just that! So happy for you Russell to have made such a good move for yourself. Thanks for sharing and for the encouragement. Blessings...
I love your attitude. Feeling ashamed of "Ugly Americans" who are demanding, entitled, and rude is something I have experienced in Europe and Africa. So great that you get it and are happy. Inspiring.
What a great video I’m 45 and looking to relocate early and beat expensive American living

Love the video, great job on giving back to the community. It's on my mind to do something like this when I can retire. I definitely want to learn more Spanish in the next few years.
Thank you for respecting the Mexican culture ❤
I watched this because I worked in that area in May of 1991 for almost a month. That was when the Mexican government had just started developing the area. There was one hotel which I have identified as Barcelo Huatulco. That wasn't what it was back then. I think it may have been a Hilton or some other internationally known chain. There was a golf course which is still there and a Club Med but that is about all. There was Salina Cruz and La Crucecita and further west, Puerto Angel. That was it. Not many people at all. There was the open market in one of the towns and very few places to find food. The hotel food wasn't good at all even though it was very expensive.
I watched and watched and didn't recognize anything or anyplace. I had no idea that there had been that much developement there since I was there. It looks nice now. It's a complete transformation from what it was but I realize that was a long time ago.
I know someone who has been living there off and on and has a diving business. I had wondered if it had changed and now I know!
If I wanted to live where it was hot all the time and near a beach, that would be right at the top of my choices.
Enjoyed the video, well done!
Now you know! Thanks for sharing 🥰
Sounds like a dream retirement. Horseradish!? Not many people I know in the States eat horseradish. My parents are from Hungary so we grew up eating it. Good stuff. I think you have a great attitude Russell about living in a foreign country. Being a part of the community is important.
I eat horseradish sauce and prefer it to the original. Yes, I'm in the states.
@@TheBunky2008 I was talking about the actual root that you need to grate. It can be very 'hot' and definitely clear your sinuses. Not sure how horseradish sauce compares as I've only had it fresh. And again, not many people I personally know even know what it is.
In Germany, we ate cooked beef with horseradish sauce - Yummy 😊
Love horseradish, root or sauce, either one. 😋
Russell. You give a delightful presentation of life in Huatulco. Espero tu continuas disfrutar tu vida en Huatulco.
WELCOME ALL PEOPLE THAT WANTS TO LIVE OR RETIRING IN ANY CITY OR TOWN IN MEXICO ....THE LIFE IS WONDERFUL AND PACEFUL
Love this
I LOVE Mexico and Huatulco. Spent 2 weeks there a few years back, drove my rental scooter to the waterfalls (don't do that.. didn't realize they have GPS 😂) I especially enjoyed the music and dancing in the town centro every weekend. The beaches, the People, the weather, the food.. Everything about that whole area is awesome! I would definitely live there. 👍
Russell, Thank you for your honest opinion. Loved the video.
Mi sueño es retirarme en un lugar asi.en mi México lindo y querido..😍😍😍
You can do it!
Some of the things that one doesn’t experience on RUclips is the smell of the food, smell of the fruits, and even the smell of burning diesel from the buses. Mexico has its own scent, smells, and noise. This man is living his best life without a doubt. I passed by this town on my way to Puerto Escondido back in the day and I really enjoyed it. Wish this man nothing but the best👍🏽👍🏽
Great video, love Russell! I had originally wanted to move to Huatulco, then I switched to Puerto Morelos, now I'm back thinking of Huatulco. I'm going to come down and spend a month in each place before I make my final move. ☮️❤️😎
Go for it! Thanks for watching
You'll find that Puerto Morelos has a lot more tourists and it has the cenotes but it's flat with no mountainous areas near by. With Huatulco because of the mountains, there is more visually beautiful scenery just looking out your window or walking around town. It also has more beaches and cool little towns to visit that are close by and are not over run with tourists. Huatulco is a very pretty and quieter small town that I think you would probably enjoy a little more but you can still party if you want to. Both places get pretty darn hot.
Thanks David, I agree with the points you made. The more I think about it, the reasons why I leaned toward Puerto Morelos seem less important. I do think that Huatulco has more of the vibe that I'm looking for. Do you live in Huatulco and/or have you visited both places? And I do want to be somewhere that is hot all year, don't want to do winter any more. Currently I'm in metro Atlanta and it gets very hot and humid in the summer (upper 90's in both temp and humidity) so I think I'll be ok with the hot weather.
☮️❤️😎
Huatulco is safer and the weather is better! After seeing major crime in the Yucatan would never live or vacation there
You have to like this guy. My only comment would be that he could have provided some details on monthly costs, especially regarding rent and neighborhoods.
The thing is that all changes and in a few months those costs are no longer the same. So to help give you an idea his social security is about $1500 or less a month USD
@@MexicoRelocationGuide 🤔 don’t think it’s changing that much when talking about prices in MXN then, the national currency of Mexico. Exchange rates vary. Converting into other Currencies using the current exchange rate is easily done on google f.e. by anybody.
MXN (at least shown on screen) would be a great service to people watching your channel coming from other countries but the USA and would be highly appreciated. Having an account in GBP or EUR or AUD or NZD people won’t know what you’re talking about especially after some time not being familiar with the history of USD exchange rates you were referring to, Mariana 😉
Mexico sounds like a great place to retire. I've been trying to learn Spanish since my teens and maybe functional but would love to improve my Spanish by living in Mexico
You can do it! One day at a time
I also recommend watching Spanish movies with English subtitles

I see at 3:25 Terazas Huatulco condo complex. That's where we are staying at the moment. We lived just outside of Playa del Carmen, (Puerto Aventuras) full time, for 6 years but are now checking out Huatulco as a place to live. Thanks for the video. Well done. Ha! Will do 😀
This is really helpful. I am looking to make the move in a couple of years. What a beautiful country! I think the laid back lifestyle would be a good fit for me.

Excellent Video Guys, we couldn't agree more about Huatulco, it's amazing here!
Thanks for watching Ken
Way to embrace life!
My suggestions again to whoever put this video together. Always post a map of where the city is at. I’ve been sitting here for 15 minutes. Trying to find this on Google and cant It would be so helpful if you would just post a map showing what you’re talking about. The second thing is post how to get there what is the closest big airport to fly into? How do you get to the airport to the town? I was watching a RUclips video David couple who found the perfect Mexico City. They failed to tell you. It was a three day bus ride from the airport to the beach town they were in those are two things that everybody that’s wanting to travel would be very interested in seeing.
Huatulco, Oaxaca 😊
Good suggestion
You couldn't find it on the internet? Seriously? Did you do a typo, or forget to put "Mexico" or ????
Google showed me Santa Maria Huatulco, which is maybe the full formal name, but it is in the Oaxaca area, so I figured that was where Russell is living.
@@debbiedogs1 Santa Maria Huatulco is a small town up in the mountains north of just plain Huatulco. Where Russell lives is near the beach and the city is sometimes referred to as La Crucecita. Buena suerte!
Hi Russell! My husband and I live in Nashville - moved here 5 1/2 years ago and love it but it’s way too expensive. I’m from Buffalo NY and he’s from Mexico. We are in our 50’s and very much looking forward to retiring. Mexico is at the top of our list for obvious reasons and looking forward to learning more about it from you. Thanks!
Only some border cities with the US ARE A NO GO ZONE THE REST OF MÉXICO IS LIKE IN THE US OR EVEN MORE SAFE

Sir,I love this video. Thank you so much for sharing. It is my hope to relocate to Mexico. I am giving myself time to plan and build on my soon to be social security. Thank you again.
This is so awesome. I can't wait to retire to Mexico. I do have a question for Russell.......are you forced to pay for Medicare in the U.S. even though you you live in Mexico? I'm hoping to avoid having to pay for something I won't be using. If you're not paying for Medicare, how did you avoid that expense?
You’re not forced but it’s a good idea to keep Medicare as a backup. Check out this video we did covering those questions ruclips.net/user/livegb2xKVsV3IY?feature=share

I was an exchange student to Australia as a boy and the culture shock is a big thing. You have to adjust to their way of living just as Russel points out. This is the best expat video I have watched.
Very honest, truthful video. I’m surprised to learn that you were living in the TN and you blended your self there in Huatulco MX(😜). You earned my respect and lots of blessings by doing the charity work. You’re my Clint Eastwood of The good, the bad and the ugly. God bless you happy, healthy and long life.
I don’t get how US people move to other countries and don’t put REAL energy into learning the language where they have moved to. Is it laziness? Arrogance? For gods sake, make a concerted effort. It’s your new home….. it’s worth the effort to get to know the local people and that requires communication.
It’s not laziness or arrogance. Sometimes it’s a real learning curve and for some it is easier than others. It’s not fair to assume everyone learns at the same way pace
welcome to Mexico Russell!!
What city is being depicted in the video?
Huatulco
Smart move 🏖🍍🍻🇲🇽 definitely the best place for retirement
Thank you Russell. I love Huatulco when I was there about 20 yrs ago. Beautiful bays and the water was a dream. Can I get Carte Blanca beer there still?? I subscribed and I am looking forward to seeing more of life there. We have been going to Mexico since our 20s and I am now 70. I love it.
Love your take in my learning...retirement is about 6 yrs away...appreciate you sharing...I'm on FB...would love privately having your input. Hopefully from this response, if willing we could start a chat. Sorry conservative about private info...
Looks so beautiful..love to see that beautiful ♥️ island. I'm also upstate. NY ..small town..thanks for sharing
Thanks for another great video about Huatulco!
Our pleasure! Glad you liked it
An A+ example of how to be a goodm human and a stellar ex-pat. Heartwarming. Giving us gringos a good name. Thank YOU!!!
Always wondered why people from the United States that come down here like to call themselves "ex-pats" instead of what you really are, immigrants.
Hello Russell, you choose one of my favor places in Mexico, I’m Mexican but I have been living in Chicago for 33 years and I been dreaming to return to live in Mexico one day, thanks for this video is very informative, I love Huatulco, is very clean and safe, good luck to you 🙏🏽🦋🌺
Russell, you have me intrigued. I am going to visit Huatulco. When there I hope to bump into you!
I ended up in Zipolite in 2020. I lived in Guatemala and it was closed. I didn't have residency so couldn't return. I stayed until Jan 2023. I am planning to return and Hualtuco is on my list of places I am looking at. My Spanish is good enough and I know I need to acquire better grasp of the language.
There's a much better food chain in Mexico where many foods are locally grown, so it's better for your health to live in countries with local food chains.
Hi Mariana and Russell, Que beuno verte de nuevo. Again another great vid, thanks for all you do Mariana!
Glad you liked it David! It’s our pleasure
