If you get an error during build, specifically something about Extension File Name, you need to uninstall Lazarus and install version 2.2.2 and build it with that version.

That's what I had to do to get this to work. It didn't work with the latest version of Lazarus

For those having an error of "ExtractFileNameWithoutExt", make sure to select the Lazarus 2.2.2 version instead, don't click the "Download Latest Version" as it will download the 3.2 version instead which causes the error

after i click build it went exactly like his but when i go to the bin forlder the cheat engine thing isnt there and i had cheat engine downloaded before but my computer messed up and i had to restore it and when i did a lot of my stuff wouldnt work properly cheat engine being one of them and i dont remember exactly how i did it before but when i downloaded cheat engine last time i didnt have to build it i just hit download but i cant get it off main site this time i keep getting this site cant provide a secure connection but i think thats how i did it last time

When I click run I keep getting a error saying Error: Identifier not found "ExtractFileNameWitoutExt". I tried reinstalling Cheat Engine but no matter what I do I keep getting the error.

@@mbloody991 I was able to get it to work after deleting all the errors in the text editor, I had to run and delete like 5 or 6 times, but after that I was able to find it in the bin file and install it

Not working anymore... My antivirus wich is Windows anti verus delete the zip file when i download it from the github. It says Virus Detected

Bro after I clicked on the button, as you've tested it, mine says that Debug Error..Failed to start process "C:\Users\MercifulBug\Documents\Cheat Engine\cheat-engine-7.5\Cheat Engine\bin\cheatengine-x86_64.exe".
Error message: 740 'Failed to execute : 740".

Out of curiosity, what does the Lazarus software do prior to opening CheatEngine from the bin folder?

Same error. I had to drag the folder out from the Compressed (zipped) folder. Then it worked.
When it got to the Release 64-Bit and Release 32-Bit, it stopped working for me. I don't know what really happened, but the CheatEngine file didn't start off as a zip either.
Hey, thanks for the tutorial. Just wondering if anyone else has an issue with the source code (zip) file. I definitely downloaded the right one but it doesn't wanna extract or open. I tried deleting and re-downloading as well.

I have the same issue, for me it just won't extract, it freezes everytime I try
that happened to me too,in my case, 7zip was able to extract it normally, just make sure you have 7zip downloaded, right click the zip file-> more options-> 7zip->open archive and it'll work.

I can't thank you enough. Unless I come back here and rage, everything installed smooth. I don't have a lot of time for trivial stuff, so CE helps me along. I didn't want to get a virus (Trojon) from this damn program. I'd be happy to donate to them if they just asked and didn't have their garbage in the file. Norton didn't have a problem with it at all. ***Update - Norton did find a "risk" file not long after I installed. Coupld have been nothing and the AV just flagged it to be removed. Just a heads up I guess

Before 7.3/7.2, I never had this much of a problem and kind of trusted what I read in the forums. It triggers my NORTON to not even allow for an install. YMMV. Take precautions, but otherwise ok "so far".

Anyone knows what to do when Windows Defender keeps stopping cheat engine whenever i try to run it?
I'm always really skeptical of tech tutorials since every computer is different, but..damn. I was completely unable to download the installer due to firewalls i couldn't disable, and this worked like a charm. Time to go mess around with some game files.

I followed all the steps but keep getting the error "Cannot find first used by Cheatengine of the Project Inspector"

Great video. My old anti virus never complained about Cheat Engine, but my new one won't even let me download it. The problem is, I think the virus was installed prior to my new antivirus and it does not seem to be able to detect it. Anyone know how to remove the Cheat Engine virus once you have it?
I had an issue compiling CE 7.5 with lazarus 3.0. For those who want the fix to that, downgrade lazarus to a previous version like 2.X and it should compile correctly.

How is this no virus? I ran the installer that was compiled thru virustotal and it still got flagged? What is different about doing it this way as opposed just downloading it right from the site?
I literally can't install it anymore. I disable my antivirus, but it goes to 'not responding' on details in task manager after running it as administrator or normally. Windows 11, not sure what to do other than give up. Is there a way to FORCE it to install?

The problem is, that the CE devs are really very smart people. I wouldn't be hundred percent sure if this simple enough method eliminates all the problems.. Hackers community is very clever, resourceful and crafty. CE is a piece of art, IMHO.

Under the "bin" folder, I didn't have the next exe file which is the 86_64.exe my extracted cheat engine folder doesn't have it
when I open the Cheatengine file with the paw through Lazarus and get the Error "does not support target i386-win32, I click OK, but then instead of opening up like yours does mine comes up with "unable to read file" Error.... please help

Ok uhhh if it says lazarus cant open cheatengine due to "blah blah blah not compliable with 32 bit" what do i do? did i just install the wrong version? i clicked install newest version. However i said to quarantine threats for cheat engine. Which one is the problem?

It just happened to me as well, not sure. I told my antivirus to delete it, but the cheat engine file stayed in my download folder soo, i will still try i guess?
@@Thevaleivan Hmmm... I deleted it manually after I clicked the "start actions" button. But the guy says you don't have to turn off your antivirus... Maybe it's because he has a different antivirus? I just don't want to accidentaly download a virus on my computer... What do you think I should do?
@@Dyroon as far as i can tell, windows defender hates the .rar/zip file. I extracted the folder and deleted the rar and it stopped complaining

Every time I try to install Cheat engine it freezes up my PC. I have tried it on all three of my PCs and it does the same thing. It just brings up the loading icon in place of my mouse pointer and all I can do is bring up Task Manager and restart my system. Downloaded it from the source site though.
The second I clicked the first link I got an alert for a very high risk virus.

edit: to specify so I don't seem like a bot, I just wanted Cheat Engine for single player Elden Ring. after 400 hours some things get tedious. everything worked fine so I'd trust this tutorial if you're still on the fence. especially since the creator said in a different comment you can delete lazarus after you're finished.
I got no option to uncheck those 2 things and got no page to add a Lazarus shortcut on the desktop. When I double click I can't find Lazarus to open the cheat engine file with even after restarting the computer. I also moved the folder from c to program files

when i click 'first scan' it says 'fix your scan settings and restart' but nothing seems to work

Seems to be different now, there is only the "Default" option listed when clicking on the gear and it doesn't work.
Edit: You mentioned you 'fiddled with yours' - that means changes made you didn't list and could be the problem here.
