Before 7.3/7.2, I never had this much of a problem and kind of trusted what I read in the forums. It triggers my NORTON to not even allow for an install. YMMV. Take precautions, but otherwise ok "so far".
The problem is, that the CE devs are really very smart people. I wouldn't be hundred percent sure if this simple enough method eliminates all the problems.. Hackers community is very clever, resourceful and crafty. CE is a piece of art, IMHO.
I'm always really skeptical of tech tutorials since every computer is different, but..damn. I was completely unable to download the installer due to firewalls i couldn't disable, and this worked like a charm. Time to go mess around with some game files.

that happened to me too,in my case, 7zip was able to extract it normally, just make sure you have 7zip downloaded, right click the zip file-> more options-> 7zip->open archive and it'll work.

I had an issue compiling CE 7.5 with lazarus 3.0. For those who want the fix to that, downgrade lazarus to a previous version like 2.X and it should compile correctly.
When it got to the Release 64-Bit and Release 32-Bit, it stopped working for me. I don't know what really happened, but the CheatEngine file didn't start off as a zip either.
You're amazing for this. My virus detector is like a hard wall what cheat engine cannot get past with all of the virus proggrass in its usual downloader so this was amazing help.
Every time I try to install Cheat engine it freezes up my PC. I have tried it on all three of my PCs and it does the same thing. It just brings up the loading icon in place of my mouse pointer and all I can do is bring up Task Manager and restart my system. Downloaded it from the source site though.

Great video. My old anti virus never complained about Cheat Engine, but my new one won't even let me download it. The problem is, I think the virus was installed prior to my new antivirus and it does not seem to be able to detect it. Anyone know how to remove the Cheat Engine virus once you have it?
I literally can't install it anymore. I disable my antivirus, but it goes to 'not responding' on details in task manager after running it as administrator or normally. Windows 11, not sure what to do other than give up. Is there a way to FORCE it to install?

Same error. I had to drag the folder out from the Compressed (zipped) folder. Then it worked.

@@Dyroon as far as i can tell, windows defender hates the .rar/zip file. I extracted the folder and deleted the rar and it stopped complaining
