We are a people who deeply fear death. While humans are biologically wired to evade death for as long as possible, we have become too adept at hiding from it, vilifying it, and-when it can be avoided no longer-letting the professionals take over.
Sixth-generation funeral director Caleb Wilde understands this reticence and fear. He had planned to get as far away from the family business as possible. He wanted to make a difference in the world, and how could he do that if all the people he worked with were . . . dead? Slowly, he discovered that caring for the deceased and their loved ones was making a difference-in other people’s lives to be sure, but it also seemed to be saving his own. A spirituality of death began to emerge as he observed:
    • The family who lovingly dressed their deceased father for his burial
    • The act of embalming a little girl that offered a gift back to her grieving family
    • The nursing home that honored a woman’s life by standing in procession as her body was taken away
    • The funeral that united a conflicted community
Through stories like these, told with equal parts humor and poignancy, Wilde offers an intimate look into the business and a new perspective on living and dying.

As a funeral director we try to make sure that your loved one is looked after as if they are a member of our own , and we do our best to make sure we do that job well .

Death puts life in perspective. Make sure you're ready to meet your Maker before you breathe your last... "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6

Do you know your great grandfathers middle name. No? So know this. In 50 years after your death only a few close family members will remember you and your life on earth. After 100 years unless you are written into the history books virtually no one will remember or know of your life here on earth. It will be as if you never existed. Do not dwell on this world but prepare for eternal life with our creator.

I have always been fascinated with death, dying or NDE. As a Christian I always wanted to know what it is like to make the transition from this world to the heavenly relm. I worked in the medical field and have seen people pass and you can tell when their spirit is leaving their body, I saw it with my mother. The sparkle left her eyes. But, we won't really know till we go through it but I believe we can have peace. Ps 23.

I have been around death most of my life. From the time I joined the Marines and got sent to Viet Nam till I came home and became a Los Angeles Policeman. I worked what they called a K-Car and would respond to every kind of death imaginable. I did this for 14 years. There is nothing pretty about death, I came to hating my job and finally retired. I have seen so many autopsy's and even some bodies being embalmed. Both are horrific desecration's of a body. Having seen all this I've made a decision to never allow this to happen to me. I have requested immediate cremation when I die. I want none of my family members to see me after I die. I don't want that to be the last vision they have of me.

    • @ThatClassic70sGirl
      @ThatClassic70sGirl 5 лет назад

Your feelings are understandable, considering your life experiences. But the Bible describes the transition from physical death to eternal life as a seed of wheat being sown in the ground; i.e., that we are sown as a physical body, but raised as a spiritual body. While cremation is not directly referenced, in all the examples it relates of God's people after their passing, they were either buried in the ground or interred above ground in tombs (analogous to our modern-day mausoleums).
P.S. Thank you for your service, both in the military and in law enforcement. They're tough jobs that not everyone can do.

Why don't you show a video after core get Stan harvesting parts why don't you show video I hope you're using a trocar on human body I think you turn a lot of people off of embalming and a funeral business in general people be going for more natural burials or cremation

if someone is waiting a week or so for a funeral and they want it done, its not hurting me or you, last 2 burials I had to take care of in my family were cremated , much easier and cleaner to me

The book almost scared me to death. I was frozen with rigor mortis and I stiffened up with every cold word written. I had to decompose myself....ah, I mean compose myself with each chapter. I had to wire my jaw shut to keep from shouting out to dead ears and in the end I felt drained.

I remember as a child this neighbor owned a hearse and the vehicles curtains would be open 24/7 365. Even though there was no body and it wasn't used for intended purpose I still avoided that yard everyday....

By turning the light off in the embalming room he perpetuates the DEATH NEGATIVE NARRATIVE. It was as though he was showing the viewers that he is not scared of the deceased and forgot that that little scene is portrayed over and over by Hollywood and the like to create horror and anxiety. Besides, the chosen music is suspenseful and terrifying at best.
