    Beautiful car. I used to daily drive a 64 tempest and just got a 64 olds f85 because I couldn't find the right pontiac, I still hope to get another 64 tempest, lemans or gto some day.

      It’s hard to go completely original on some of these old cars. Parts are hard to come by and can be very costly if found. While not for everyone, restomods are becoming the norm.

    No way is the GTO the first muscle car. Chevy, Ford, and MOPAR were building cars that could blow the doors off a GTO long before 1964.

      Hi John! The Pontiac GTO is considered to have initiated the trend with all four domestic car producers offering a variety of competing models. They were the first consumer car sold to the public with the concept of lighter car, bigger engine. Prior to the GTO, Chevy had the 300s in the mid to late 50’s, but the car was design specifically for NASCAR. Once it fell out of favor on the track it left the showrooms. Curious, what car you recall that could outrun the 64 GTO? PS, thanks for your service!
