the base price for a toureg is around 57000 euro and the base price of a bmw x5 40d is around 67000 euro thats a big jump in price for the almost the same preformance
This X5 looks better than the prior generation 👍! I used to have the basic ‘16 X5 s35i, and it was fun and nice looking, but lack tech like lane assist, interactive cruise control, collision prevention, etc. So we got rid of it and got something waaaayyyy better and nicer. We are looking forward to check out the coming x7. Can’t wait for a review on the X7!

I think traditional car manufacturers are already capable of releasing fully autonomous vehicles on par with Tesla, but that doesn't mean Tesla is ideal, and that's why they are holding back.

Thanks. Let's put it this way. In the US BMW sells 40-50k X5s a year. In Europe (all 50 countries) it's closer to 30k. In Poland BMW sells something like 10k cars (all models) annually. If I had the money I'd buy the new G-Class or Jaguar i-Pace. Otherwise I'm satisfied with my MX-5, and there's nothing in between that I'd WANT to buy. I'm on the lookout for something that can accommodate all my gear, and serve as a camera car, but it's something I'd HAVE to buy, rather than WANT :)
Hello Marek. I didn't hear you refer to the Porsche Cayenne as a competitor? Similar pricing on the base car in the US? Interestingly enough I test drove the 50i in and also felt the suspension was to soft also! The Cayenne seems to handle better in my opinion and felt sportier for a luxury SUV!!!
IMO X5 and Cayenne don't play in the same league. However BMW PR rep says X5 50d is a completely different animal, and he thinks it can challenge the Cayenne. We'll see in March.
Curious why you feel this way? Can you elaborate? I drove both and love the tech in the BMW but feel the Porsche is definitely the drivers car of the two! Need to step up to the S model of the Porsche though. Feel like base engine is alright but still a bit under powered for my taste.
Great, great video!!! This new X5 is soft(er)? It’s about time. All previous editions I’ve driven were far too hard by half and so not luxurious at all as they crashed and bobbed around lousy American (northeast) roads. Potential buyers beware the quality. These are ubiquitous where I live and I’ve had more than 1 friend experience catastrophic failure (stranded by the road requiring tow truck) within the first 7000 miles.
Why do all the makers insist on putting everything on a bloody screen? Yes it means less buttons but it also completely screws ease of use. Why do I need to go through two screens and have my eyes off the road for ages just to change basics like the temperature?
@@lewispax1124 You're mising the point. Infotainment is great but I don't want to have to go through a screen to adjust things when I'm trying to look where I'm going. A screen has no tactile feedback, no points of reference and therefore requires you to look and pay attention to it. A knob or button layed out properly requires no such break of concentration and is therefore more convenient. Dropping a load of features into a screen which hardly ever get used is fine but things you might want easy access to while driving not so much.
@@aidenp5768 Actually no - it's same class and the price is very similar. VW have been looking to go upmarket for a while now. Yet the BMW is more value, not least because of the badge.

If you get a base X5 your better off getting a semi fully loaded X3. If you get a base X5 which is what every mom drives you’ll be disappointed trust me, Every single 40i I’ve seen and believe me all 100 percent of them are used my moms driving them to the supermarket. Get an M sport or highly optioned X line you look good in it, appreciate it, and stand out.

I haven't tried to M50d yet. As far as I'm concerned xOffroad Pack is there mainly to make you feel better. Visually the car doesn't look very different, and how often are you going to take it off road?

I think BMW has stuck with their conservative style and meanwhile MB has managed better with theirs cars: they looks much more modern both interior and exterior, has modern driving assistant systems and looks still solid.
I used to had the previous gle coupe for 2 years and drove the new one half and hour. I felt something was gone while testing the MB. Then I tried the BMW and felt it more strong and rigid. Don't know how to explain it..I'm not a car expert. I just felt more save and comfortable in the x5. That's why I bought it and I'm very pleased with it
This reviewer would benefit from learning more about the car. It would be helpful if he knew which items were standard and which were options. The USB sockets in rear of the front seats are optional extras.
I find the speaker explaining the car has an excellent English knowledge while still having a slight Polish accent. Would be nice to have the car's menus in English too (can't read Polish; German, English and French are fine!^^).
Once you get an X6 this car is too boxy for me. I believe it has more horsepower than mine but I'm just driving my mom around town. I don't need any more than 300 HP. I like the shape of the X6. This car just reminds me of a family station wagon. haha
I would choose the Touareg, looks much better than the X5. At least for me. I just don’t like the rear of the X5 and the front is getting old. I think the Touareg looks more aggressive.

Great review but BMW X5 can't handle being off road, if you want to have luxury, comfort, performance and being able to go off road, and proper off road it has to be a Range Rover nothing else comes close.

For me autonomous is placing your child in a car typing in the adress in Krakow going to sleep and waking up next day with you car in front of the house and child in Krakow Everything else but that is driving assistence or rather machine thinking instead of you. That model is the MSport not the Xoff road package as you call it.
M Sport styling is independent of the xOffroad pack. xOffroad includes air suspension, off road switchgear, electronically lockable rear diff, etc.

Q7 is a bit dated. But bigger, if that's your thing.

31mpg was what he achieved he in real life the 44mpg is only a lab figure. 31mpg for a vehicle of this size and performance isn't too shabby

Err if your going to buy an X5 shouldn't it come with the off road pack as standard ? after all it is a 4x4
