    Oh man I’ve been beating myself up and hating on everything and everyone and beyond stressed out with bills and work, and then out of nowhere, Rich appears with a warmly welcomed video showcasing some of his vintage magazines and focusing on the March ‘69 Life magazine. Pretty hard to find those, you know.
    Thank you rich!! Your timing is impeccable ❤

    • @solarnaut
      @solarnaut Год назад +1

      booster, your comment got me trying to recall the "wear sunscreen" lyrics about nostalgia as a form of over pricing the past by masking the ugly aspects. A potential reminder that even THIS MOMENT, for all its flaws, can, too, become a relaxing bit of vintage in the future ?
      " Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth."
      Perhaps the welcoming framework Rich provides actually DOES increase its worth ? B-)

I lasted about 20 minutes so now tonight I’m going to go back and try to watch the rest (and go to bed earlier). You are by far one of the most talented asmrtists out there. Please don’t add background music like one person suggested. That would detract from your overall mellow vibe (in my opinion).

    In a RiffTrax bridgett and Mary Jo were watching the 1957 industrial film “Life in the Suburbs” and the narrator said “it’s the goingist part of a nation on wheels!” So ‘it’s the going thing’ tracks. I remember my parents and grandparents using it when I was little in the 70s. It just means ‘it’s the latest, most popular going thing’

      But, riffing aside, it was kind of a fascinating time capsule about the suburbs and the birth of the shopping mall. I think they were just about as far in time from when malls would take off as we are from when they started to die.

    Chat-GPT doesn't reason. It's a large language model, so what it's actually doing is generating sentences word by word based on how likely the word is to appear in a sentence given the previous 1024 words. Like if I gave you the words, "See Spot," you could probably guess the next word--"run." That's all Chat-GPT is doing. The training data set was huge though and that's why the output seems so human.

    • @Bleachedredhair
