Hi, I am a former trim carpenter who depends on a high level Miter Saw. I just remodeled my front porch with square columns & new railings.......I ripped 12 eight foot pcs of select pine boards down (3/4" thick) and had no issue with this Ryobi table saw. The fence is fine, as we can't compare to a fence that has gears on it to move. This fence is no different to the many years Sears sold table saws.....set it front and back and you will be fine. It is a lite weight table saw with heavy weight ability. I have one and would NOT trade it for the new table Festool has out. Key point is knowing your needs as you so pointed out in your video. Love mine for rip cuts only, and love its light weight too. I already had 12amp and 9amp batteries in my arsenal. For my DIY use, the big 12amp battery and a Diablo 60T blade are best -- my .02. Thanks for your video! 👍
I just bought this for $150, I'm "downgrading" from a Hitachi portable job site table saw. I think this will serve me well enough for my needs, as I get older I just don't want to deal with the larger corded tools as much. I know this has limitations but for the right people it's ideal. Thanks for the super honest review.

I think for light duty project, it's a great little companion. It's light weight compared to full size table saw; and it's very convenient since it's cordless.

I would like to see the 18v miter saw but use the regular 18v battery not the new smart types. On a side note is that a squaring jig that you are using with the fence? If so do you have a video about it.
It's great for me making custom furniture. One project at a time without needing power anywhere I want to work.

Great review... Thank you! I have just bought the same saw (Home DIY use) however my blade angle seems a little off maybe a couple of mm when set at top dead centre or 45degrees, is there anyway to adjust it that you know of?
Battery tests very helpful
I bought this knowing that it wouldn't fit the bill on heavy duty construction, I bought it specifically for off grid and bookcase and cabinets. I have a 10 inch 15 Amp that does fit the bill for heavier construction type work.
And I was very fortunate enough to buy this at half the price, a win win......

I find that getting a 54v dewalt battery and using an adaptor to ryobi tools is fine the little Hoover is the same it eats batteries but the dewalt can handle it
I though about wiring a bunch of Ryobi batteries together to create like a 24 AH 18 volt battery.
I don't understand why they didn't make this one 40 V. They made a 10 inch compound mitersaw that used 2 18V batteries for a total of 36V. However you had to use the HP batteries and can't run it with only one battery or if one is weaker. Probably should have also made that one 40V too.

Has any one tried ripping oak flooring with it like 15-20mm ? Or do they know if it would handle that ok ?
I think the main point of this saw is that it's cordless, so as crappy as it is you don't have a lot of other options. I got mine to use in the backyard, so not too concerned with its precision. Having said that it is possible to get precise cuts if you take your time lining up the fence with a measuring device. It also doesn't stall if you go really slow. The main drawback for me that wasn't mentioned in this video is its rip capacity. I can get it to about 13", which is laughable for doing any project with plywood. I paid $270 and it came with two 4 ah batteries. It's definitely not worth more than that because then you're getting in the Metabo HPT territory and that's a legit table saw, which I will eventually get.

Nice review! But it seemed like you were pushing it a bit more than what you should. It is battery powered and 18v, which makes very impressive for an 18v operated table saw. Of course it’s underpowered, it’s 18v not 120v 15amps.
I wouldn't assume everyone who needs a table saw is cutting thick material. A table saw to me means straight cuts and repeatability, not power. The thickest material I ever cut is 3/4". I think your exact use case is what a lot of us are here for. Anyone framing houses already knows they need a corded saw.
You are risking cutting your fingers badly (or off), with your hand placement. Most table saw accidents occur when the saw grabs the wood and shoots it out the back like a shot gun blast, taking your hand with it. There is no reaction time as it happens so fast. After much table saw use, like the way you're doing it, I finally got stung. The doctor told me how it happened before I was able to finish explaining how it happened. So this told me this is how it happens to most people. Put the guard on or by the sawstop brand... it's cheap insurance. To prove how valuable this safety practice is, try once to button and zip your pants and button up your shirt with one hand.
Looks like a miss for ryobi .maybe next gen they could double up the battery to 36 v and add hybrid ac capability put a decent fence and quality readout scales and it would be worth buying

Even the dewalt ones with the giant battery's stall like this one it may be a bit stronger but no brand has made a cordless table saw that doesn't stall like this one. The technology is just not there yet. We need tesla to make a table saw lol
Should use the 9amp battery and brand new shape blade don't get to cocky with ur hands near blade dude do that on a DEWALT table saw your hands would be gone mate

I had the 10” plug in and it’s probably as weak as this battery powered version. I don’t recommend Ryobi tablesaws for many, many reasons but in short spend your money on something like a Skilsaw which has far better rip capacity and motor strength. It’s near or in the same price range
They should have made this saw use 2 batteries to make it 36 volt.

Yes, they should have gone for a One plus One setup like the miter saw you are referring to. Not even sure they still make that. I have Ryobi mower that supports two 18v batteries but they are connected in parallel which gives you 18v at 8ah (2x whatever the battery is)…the goal there is longer run time. That mower had been discontinued. I think Ryobi is trying to avoid conflicts with their sister brand: Milwaukee.
@@zacksintheshop I’m sure you realize that “40v” is just a marketing thing. Those batteries will charge to 40v but they all discharge at 36v. The 40v scam provided an opportunity to the manufacturers to try and convince everyone to upgrade to a whole new set of tools. Even Makita has started to do this with the 40v XGT lineup but they continue to sell the 18v LXT X2 gear (2x 18v). I have several of the X2 tools and will continue to buy more because the last thing I want is a third battery system. It’s interesting that the Milwaukee table saw runs off of a single 18v battery and is an all around better piece of equipment.
Wow mine cuts way faster 🤣 on 4 amp don't miss my corded one cuts as fast as it. I get way more cuts and longer on 4 amp

Zack, I had to stop the video because I was getting an anxiety attack watching you cut that wood with over 2" of the blade showing. I can't believe you have all your fingers intact. I think we start a Go Fund Me page to get you some push sticks. Your video however was an honest wealth of information and helped me come to the conclusion that this saw would be better suited to cut squares of butter for baking. Thank you.
