The 'Extreme Off Road' in the title is a bit misleading tbh. This is the first review of Thar I have seen off road so I was expecting to see hill hold assist, approach and departure angle test etc. Moreover I was expecting a sort of comparo between petrol and diesel's capability off road. Was it not done because these are pre production models? Also when people say Thar is a rip-off of a Wrangler, they mean it purely design wise and NOTHING else. Though they have the same roots, doesn't mean they have do evolve aesthetically in the same way right? I think Mahindra started off with Wrangler design (its not the basic shape, there are elements that look so similar but not same) and made clever changes to avoid being sued. When people say the design is a copy that's true, but its not them complaining, its just them stating their opinion.So does it take away anything from the Thar's pedigree? Nope! Its a brilliant product and New Thar improves leaps and bounds over older one and there is definitely nothing to complain about. Looking forward to the proper off road review.
Also Mahindra says you can hose down the interiors to clean it as its water proof or resistant. I wanted to ask this in the earlier and forgot, the lining material on the side panels next to the rear seat inside the car looks similar to what we under the floor mats on any car and those if they get wet give out a nasty smell. So is that material really water resistant because that part of the interior doesnt seem to be.

Sirish. 9 months into ownership of my Thar LX Hardtop, I have changed my stock suspension to the AVO adjustable dampers and rear coil springs. You ll be amazed how this has eliminated body roll, swaying from side to side, pitching and bobbing on rutted roads and dirt tracks and/ or our typical badly maintained Indian city roads. It completely eliminates the nose diving which one experiences over our giant mountainous speed breakers and under braking. The AVO Suspension is brought in by Mr N Leelakrishnan of Coimbatore, the Ace Rallyist. Fitted by Mahindra Adventures at the Dealership workshop same as where I bought my Thar..

also the water test would have been more ideal had you compared it with venue or ecosport. We all know from all the reviews that the new thar has much better ride quality than the old one. The ideal comparison is how much stiffer is it than the compact suv's. Since now its meant to be a mainstream 1st or only car.

Going by my experience with Armada and Bolero, Mahindra cars are bad and service is even worse. Once off road, then off to the garage. I fervently hope that there is some improvement.

Armrests and reverse camera are two huge misses! Probably they will offer them as accessories at the least. I know that they can be fitted afterwards, but, company fitting works the best.
Good Review Sirish, you have answered most of the questions. 10-13 lakh is the sane pricing, should not go beyond it. Rear seats could have been better, that knee up position doesn’t look good. Glad to see Adil after a long time, used to read his stories in the late 90s. Back then he used to write for Overdrive or Auto India!

Mahindra Thar 2020 has managed to generate a whole lot of buzz since it was first unveiled on August 15. Now while the Thar has always been renowned for how it manages to make a mockery of any on-road and off-road challenge, it wasn't much on counts of cabin space and comfort. Mahindra has sought to change all of that as it looks to make Thar 2020 appeal to a wider set of audience instead of being a very capable niche player in the Indian automobile market.👍👍👍❤️
This was pleasantly satisfying to watch so thank you guys for making this video which makes me warm up to this vehicle once again after an initial cooling off. Commendable effort on your part gentlemen. I think the next iteration of this would be really awesome. And I hope they make the passenger go bums up in that, so like one fold to drop the back and the second to make it go straight up and the ingress egress would be a breeze then. This is like the old gypsy seat and even though much younger I have scraped the sides of my shin area a few times then. So please figure that in Mahindra. And reduce the badges please.
