Secret Sauce - AKG C12VR Tube Microphone

AKG created one of the most sought after mics from the 50's & 60's, the C12. Only 2,500 were manufactured from 1953 to 1963 and has been considered by some engineers to be the "holy grail" of microphones. Handcrafted in Vienna, today's C12 VR uses the original 6072A vacuum tube and dual-diaphragm design but incorporates an updated, edge-terminated CK12 capsule and state-of-the-art componentry for lower noise and distortion and reliable operation.

I'm in Chattanooga as well. I wish you would've provided an audio sample of what this c12vr can do. I am thinking of picking one up for my home studio, would you suggest it compared to the neumann u87ai or the u49 you have in the back ground?

sure C12, stay away from U87ai. I switched recently to the Tele TF51 and I'm really happy with the sound. The U87ai is kind of mud and dull, not as close to "modern" or bright.
