In 1962 America was BLACKMAILED into betraying a Pacific War Ally, basically selling the black population of West Papua to their enemy Indonesia, and so for Sixty-Two years Indonesia with help of corrupt businesses (Freeport, Bechtel, BP, etc.) have been able to slaughter half-a-million people to silence the survivors' demands for FREEDOM from Indonesian & international LOOTING of $Trillions in Gold, Copper, gas, and rain-forest woods. This on-going slaughter by the US began with JFK, it was meant to end by 1969 but RFK was killed and nobody else in the US cared; in 2005 the US Congress wrote a bill (Foreign Relations Authorization Bill sec.1115) demanding answers about the colony (Victim of the 1962 'New York Agreement') and whether the current Indonesia claim of ownership is legal or not; the Indonesian President denounced the bill and said he would find US Senators to remove it. As PATRICK Kennedy was leaving in 2010 he re-introduced that bill from 2005 trying to help free West Papua from the on-going horror; but nobody else in America supported it. The rapes, slaughter and looting continues.

So True! We talk about the south, which is very true but there is also Rural States like Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. I was born and raised in Montana, my hope for a decent life was to join the military and I benefitted greatly by doing so. My brothers on the other hand elected to stay. The didn’t choose education but rather blue collar jobs. My oldest brother died at age 62, my middle brother became disabled at age 58, my youngest brother had Streptococcal Pneumonia when the delta surge from the pandemic was taking up all the ICU beds in Montana. He became septic and nearly died, and his kidneys entirely shut down. He is no longer able to work, because he had lived with my mother to care for her ( she had subsequently died) he did not have enough work credits to qualify for SSD and was too young to collect SSI. The rent in Missoula skyrocketed and he could no longer afford it ( having lived on a little of the money from the estate) and availability of apartments were severely lacking. His money ran out short by summer of 2021. I now pay for his rent $1300./ month in a trashy trailer. He is true blue and will vote for democracy but these are the problems that people who live in rural America ( Montana) deal with. Everyone he knows is far right… and their biggest issues is their “guns” as for some of them this is their lively hood. Currently the beloved Jon Tester Democratic Senator, is being harshly attacked with disinformation by a right wing non Montanan for his seat in the Senate. This is a huge challenge and definitely needs to be addressed.

Well, you did when you were younger-and minus all the freckles.😊 But you certainly carry the spirit of that Joe and his brothers and sisters. So glad to see how involved you are in this election. Your analysis at 13:30 is 100% so make your fellow Dems listen and act accordingly. I wrote that sentence before I heard you at 16:35 speak of “making” someone do something. You’ve got it. Along with your cousins and aunts and uncles, go for it. Your family has so many “angels” in heaven to guide you, and we need all of you now as we needed them when they were here. They’re still here. You know it. Many of us know it, feel it. Blessings.

I used to own a Bakery and at a point our flour costs more than tripled in price. We had to for a short time raise our prices. But when people complained I showed them proof of the much higher cost of flour and said it will eventually come back down and then we can lower our prices again. Showing people the proof of why prices had to change for a short time helped them understand.

As a Bostonian, I have a deep respect for the Kennedy family. Joe made some great points. I lived about an hour west of Biloxi Mississippi in Bay St Louis Mississippi , and I know that coast well. I was there not long after Katrina decimated that whole region. No longer a rep. He lost his house set when he challenged a Democrats for a senate seat. That Congressman had been in congress for 43 years. It is interesting that the progressives who came to help his campaign were the same progressives who in Congress thought Nancy Pelosi should retire and a number of older Black Congress person’s should retire. However when Kennedy challenged an older white Democrat, they rushed into MA and help the old man win, because the progs could not own Kennedy. I am not against progressives, but to ignore that they are as politically aggressive as any other group is hypocrisy. I found it quite telling that back in those days they were talking about all the Democrats retiring and letting new progressives. And when a young Democrat challenged an old Democrat., they rush their campaign people in to assure the win of the older Democrat. And that was only because they did not want Kennedy name growing by going to the Senate like his uncle Ted.. They did not want the Kennedy to become powerful again.. I personally would love for the Harris campaign team to call in Joe Kennedy, and vet him for consideration as a VP.possibility.

OK now another comment. Arlie Russell Hochschild. ~ "Strangers in Their Own Land." ~. California Sociologist spending time in Louisiana a little tedious at times but a clear overview of the corporate toilet that Louisiana has become ~ continuing to support the Orange Man in spite of their poverty and pollution. Amazing behavior that continues for poor people even today. Whooo Weee. ‼

    Hey Marc,
Here in Canada it is Federal law that if and employee’s hours on election day do not allow them to get to the polls between polling hours; the employer MUST give them 3 consecutive paid hours during their shift to vote. They are prohibited from interfering with voting or they can be fined or imprisoned. Why are the individual States not held to a Federal law similar to this in order to protect voters? The US Electoral system is so convoluted and outdated that it’s ripe for the corruption it’s experiencing. It needs to be reformed.

Democrats and President Biden have tried to get Election Day as a National Holiday. In Minnesota employee have the right to be allowed to have time off to go Vote 😊

@@lynnegackstetter2779 Hey neighbour!👋 I’m in Manitoba. That’s great to hear about Minnesota but what about the other 49 States? When it comes to “Federal” elections should there not be some form of consistency for the Nation? It’s the consistency that allows for immediate results (Here anyway🍁) and lack of corruption with those results. We know who has won that same night! Thats not to say our system is perfect, but it is efficient. From cost to cost we’re all on the same page. It’s simple.

One of the problems (I am blue in a red state) is the disappearance of local newspapers. I live right outside Nashville, TN. The TENNESSEAN is printed in Knoxville (3 hours east of here). The main paper is two days behind. Local papers have practically disappeared. Our Republican Party turned down the Medicare money, this causing five rural hospitals to close. They stated they wouldn’t take Obama Care (aka The Affordable Care Act) and played into the underlying racism (both economic and cultural). There are, however, small rumblings of progress. The Republican Party here made a huge mistake not addressing the Covenant School gun shooting, by playing the mothers, and not promulgating real gun reform. Arming teachers is not a solution.
