I had the same car with white vinyl top and 351c. almost as good shape as yours . had it from 76-87 . sold it with 83,000mi for 1800 dollars. after seeing this I wanna cry. why did I sell mine!!!!!!! bright hot red , it looked sharp like yours. gonna go cry now
I had an exactly like this 1972 Montego GTsportroof back in the 1980ties here in Norway. My car was orginally Competition / citron Yellow, with black interior & factory decals and blackout in front of the scoops and 351 cleveland 4v high perf. It was an awesome car. Will never forget this beauty
@@TAZattitude Your car is one of the nicest car I ever have seen. Beautiful work you have done on her. These cars are in my opinion the nicest muslecar of all time. Thank you for sharing mate : )
Its a beutiful Car I grew up around Montegos Torinos and LTDs I own one of these its been in the Family for over 20yrs its been Tru some hard times but I am getting Him back toghether and on the Road.
I was with my dad when he bought a new 72 GT red with white top at Jack Marshall Lincoln Mercury in Dallas, Texas. I was so proud of that car until I got took my drivers license test in it in 1977 and it became mine in 1978. Then I found out that a 351 2bbl with FMX and 2:79 gears wasn't the hot set-up :( It still looked sharp with cragers.
Beautiful car Scott...love it. I recently got a 72 myself and it is in fantastic condition. Love these cars! I was curious about your tailpipes as they exit beneath the bumper...I assume you re-chromed the bumper during restoration, what all did you do exactly to prevent the exhaust from causing bubbling in the finish? Mine has turn down pipes, but I would rather have them coming straight out...this is on my 'to-do' list. Thanks and again, great job that red really pops.
Hi Dee Dee, I assume you mean you have a MX and you are looking for a GT. The GT's are definitely a little harder to find. You may want to try the Montego forum. Every once in awhile you will see one for sale. Good luck
This is it for a long time :) 2 frame-offs in 3 years was enough. I downsized my shop to, so I really don't have the room. Happy and content with the Montego.
Absolutely gorgeous man, by far the best looking Montego that I’ve ever seen.
Appreciate that. It definitely was a neat car to drive around
had a new one in green 1972 351c

That is one sexy Montego! You did a great job with it.👍
Thanks James!
I owned one of these in 1973. Mine had the 351 V8 Windsor engine. Great ride.
Definitely cool - forgotten cars
Beautiful! I love the old Mercs.
Appreciate it. That was a fun car to drive around! A forgotten Mecury!
I used to have one of these big old land yachts. The friggin thing came with a 400M 2V from the factory, producing 154 hp. What a slug that thing was.
Yep, and to think these were MID sized cars back in the day
What a beauty!!!!!
Thanks!
Red, black and chrome ❤️ 😍looks so sharp
Thanks, that was a fun car to drive. Ended up in NY
Great memories? Sharp car!!!!!
Yea, that was a fun car to build and drive.
Cool, back in the year, 1972, the 351C 4V, was the engine to have. Big block really detuned for 1972. Love it though!!
Yep...the 351 actually had more HP. This was a rare one though. 1 of 202. 1 of one if you include the factory AC and AM radio
Love this car.

Where you got part form
You still have the Montego? Let me when it is for sale. :)
I sold it a couple years after finishing. Thank you
what are you going to do next ?
That's it for right now. Downsized my shop so 2700' with a spray booth is kind of small to do another frame off resto.
