it's been a well i think i had to adjust my linkage when i did my 1 " body lift. i went to cable shifters in the xj, after you have it adjusted, it works like a dream.
nice work. My dsl truck stuck in 2H and I dripped Kroil into the boot and now it works. I Probably could use bushings but takes about 3-6 hours to beat that thing loose, so tried Kroil and works 2 years now, plowing, lucky for me).
Heck yea! Awesome that worked for you. I’ve used kroil before too. Wish that was more available in stores. One of our advanced autos here had it for a while but stopped
A C if you type in transfer case linkage bushing yj in google you’ll get a bunch of results but this is the one I picked up www.4wd.com/p/1995-Jeep-Wrangler-(YJ)-Crown-Automotive-Shift-Linkage-Grommet-53004810/_/R-BKMN-53004810?ecmp=s:google_Crown%20Automotive_CRO530048104175_YMM&emlprox=out&ppcfon=1&gp=1&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIhdjmhqap3wIVwUGGCh24vQykEAQYASABEgJmBfD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!7836!3!224728131320!!!g!388937454474!&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhdjmhqap3wIVwUGGCh24vQykEAQYASABEgJmBfD_BwE
I don’t own a keep but my sister-in-law does and she says she put it in 4wheel Drive and it seized up and won’t do anything. Is this linkage what they’re referring to?
Mine is stuck in 2 high, wont budge out of 2 high at all. I think I have a linkage issue like you. Gonna crawl under and check it out next weekend. Looks like Quadratec sells rebuild kits for these.
You may be able to simply loosen the set screw. I just acquired a 94 YJ from Texas (I live in MN) and it was stuck in 4 hi but I could manually shift the transfer case using my hand (direct on the transfer case). I loosened the set but and slid the rod about 1/3 inch and that allowed the shifter to shift from 4 Hi to 2 High. If you cannot manually shift the transfer case with your hands, you may have a different issue.
Singing bird boxes I actually had the same problem you had I disconnected the shifter from the mechanism the mechanism itself was all seized up against the transfer case once I lubed it up and worked at back and forth for about a half hour it seems to be moving fine now
got a '92 4cyl... My 4wheel makes a very loud CLUNK every few 100 feet. Its been slowly progressively getting worse through the years and now i can feel it through the whole body. 3 Mechanics cant figure out whats wrong and Im afraid to rip it apart without knowing more. Anybody have any ideas???
is the transfer case making the noise ? if it is a stock chain driven case that has some abuse or lots of use, it could have a worn out drive chain and/or skipping a tooth. if you drive on solid ground in 4x4 or abuse it they will get worn out quick
My Jeep won't move sat for 3 weeks. Left rear won't move but a bit. Rear right works. Front drive shaft is removed. Goes into 2 wheel and 4 high not 4 low. Banged the left drum backside with a hammer. Nothing still This video will be helpful once I figure out how to get my YJ moving again though.
Hmm I’m not really sure but I’d grab somewhere close to the u joints and try to shake it. If there’s any play at all, more than likely the u joint needs replaced.
jtmoffroad ~ thank you so much. It's ok on back roads but once I go over 45 it starts jerking. Maybe axle? My mind keeps thinking about it. Thanks for everything.
By the way I needed a back drivers side hinge for the hatch/glass. Advance told me only can be ordered through the Jeep dealer. I called the dealer (get this shit) he says $140.00 +tx I said omg I knew it would be 50 million dollars but not that much! Holy heck!! So I called JC Whitney just now and ordered a pair thats not the same so will need modifications. Only pd $23.24 out the door! ✌️
This was very helpful. But where did you buy or find the bushings ?

Cable shifters seem to be the way to go from what I hear! I think eventually I’ll go that route
I’m going to put a 12”body lift in my jeep will I have to adjust my oil filter angle to keep my gas tank level. Thanks for the help
Where do you find the bushings ??
Got a guy down about 800 bucks from what he was asking for just by watching this video ! Thanks bro
Good score! Glad I could help!

@@jtmoffroad Hi, where did you find the bushings? I think I need to work on mine too. Thanks.

7:45 shake it more than twice, you're playing with it 😂
fun farm playing with it for sure 😂
@@jtmoffroad 😂👍
I came down to make a similar comment
jtmoffroad I appreciate the video even if you were playing with that funnel & catch pan a bit excessively ✌🏽
Sure Ill be doing the same on my 88. Nice looking jeep
Good luck and thanks!
So I have to ask What if it's really loose It's like it's hard to find what type of drive gear your in?

Where did you get the replacement bushings for that shifter?
Crown automotive brand and I think most 4wd stores online carry them. A quick search shows them on quadratecs website for a couple bucks

My 4x4 shifter is really loose so I think I have to replace my shifter bushing, if it's not that what could it be

My 4 wheel drive on my YJ is jerking do you think it's the universal joints? Last thing I need to go where I live. I live off road.
