The second part of this is basically talking about descriptive vs prescriptive study of languages - descriptive study being how languages ARE used by their speakers, while prescriptive is how languages SHOULD be used. If enough people start using a word or form and it becomes ingrained into the language, prescriptive study will have a very hard time trying to reverse it. Such an interesting topic!

Pretty much, yeah. Although there are still things that are commonly used more often (such as spelling 예요 as 에요), but at the same time are still considered incorrect in Korean.

I like how you pronounced @urimal365 as 우리말three-six-five. Surely 국립국어원 would argue that it should be pronounced [우리말삼뉴고]. Or would it be [우리말삼유고]?!? [우리말삼백뉵시보]?!?!?
