#Lockboss, I have a Schlage branded padlock with a six pin American-style key and core.
I use Abus with Schlage and Kwikset cylinders. I haven’t rekeyed any other type of padlocks. #Lockboss

Combo kits are awesome! Just my everyday Residential and Commercial rekey kit is a Schlage Kwikset Combo kit purchased from CLK. #Lockboss

I have not had to rekey any padlocks however I have practiced picking and bypassing numerous versions of American Locks. I have not seen any that were not Master or American...Yet....#Lockboss

The "Schlage Padlock" may be an Abus 83/45 (for example) with a Schlage core, or some other similar setup. I love the Abus 83 S2 for keying the same as a customer's house, etc. How they can utilize a standard conventional KIK cylinder is genius. Thanks, PJ! #AccessLockKeyLLC #HaulinBrass #LockBoss
Good info on the American / Master lock pins. I also haven't seen any Schlage branded padlocks, but I know the Abus 83 series padlocks have a variation that can take KIK cylinders if you want a padlock that'll take a Schlage key. Thanks for rooting for me for this week's #lockboss giveaway!

In the 3+ years I've been open, I've only gotten a few calls for padlocks (mainly to cut them off - except for 1 call from an Enterprise rental that couldn't get into their drop box, but they found their key about 5 minutes before I got there). I'd love to sell customers better quality padlocks, but try as I might, I can't break them of the big box store cheapos. #Lockboss

Most of the padlocks that I deal with are IC, so that's a different animal all in itself, but I am called upon to key up/rekey a few Master padlocks that are used out in the field. I have purchased the Master/American pin sets for both the shop and the van. For others, I use a LAB .003 kit for the 0.115 pins and the LAB IC kit for the Best cores. The LAB .003 has proven to be the best investment for standard cylinders for the versatility, and is pretty easy to get refills for. All of this helps me to get closer to a #Lockboss level.
I have to re-key padlocks all the time but their all BEST sfic so that's a completely different animal, still pretty easy for a #lockboss
I’m just obsess with pining kits, I love rekeying cylinders, still have some trouble sometimes especially with Arrow, Yale and Segal, (using pining chart on lab pin kit) I’m a rookie locksmith only a year and half on the industry but I love it #lockboss

Yes, schlage makes padlocks and puck locks that have interchangeable keyways that accept Am3/7 cores #lockboss.

Great video PJ. I have a Schlage padlock that is similar in form factor to an American 700 series and some of the parts are interchangeable. That padlock uses the American padlock keyway. #Lockboss

Great #lockboss discussion PJ, I hadn’t heard of Trimax before either. I agree Schlage is the odd one out, too bad that one wasn’t in the photo (or is that the generic key on the right?). Definitely confusing. My guess is it’s a Schlage cylinder in some other padlock so they’ll need two pinning kits but we’ll see 😀

I wonder if these padlocks all have removable comon cores. I did not know the Paclock used the same pins as the Master/American and I thought the Paclock key profile was proprietary. Confused #LockBoss
Never heard of trimax either. Only schlage padlocks I've seen are the lfic ones that use schalge key. Very interesting. Thanks PJ! #lockboss

I'm betting that the "schlage" padlock with an "american" style key head is really an SC1/SC4 keyway that someone has used an sc1 keyblank having an American shaped keyblank/head which would of course need .003 / Schlage pins. Those I've seen. It could be anyone's KIK padlock shell including Schlage's. I have never seen anything put out by Schlage to fit AM7 keyway and Master Padlock sized pins. #Lockboss
P.J. grate video as always, I've never seen a Schlage branded pad lock. I wonder if it's a Schlage cylinder in someone else lock. #Lockboss
Seams to be more off brand locks now. American/Master are still pretty standard but seeing other locks around. Like the Universal American/Master pinning kit. #Lockboss
I prefer to just recommend the Abus lock, saves from buying more #Lockboss pinning kits (or M1 blanks).
Have extra SPRINGS and a magnet! I lost so many springs when I first started rekeying locks. 😂 Some are probably still around here mocking me from a dark corner.

I have American lock kit that came with 10 locks and a bunch of different cylinders and drivers for various keyways, including sc1 keyways and many other keyways. The kit called “A3650 series multi-cylinder replacement kit”. I think it was part# AMAAMCPSK1 and of course use respective pinning kit for whatever key type it is. Kwikset has padlock that is Smartkey. Idk if they ever made a sc1 smartkey version though. #lockboss.

Funny, I was just looking online for bulk Schlage KIK and SFIC. My guess is that padlock probably takes this type of SFIC. #lockboss

From my experience if you are trying to key imitation American padlocks you may have to fudge your spacing by cutting your key with a 90 mc cutter. #Lockboss

I've had a similar issue, I've scratched my head when it comes to wafer locks. I bought a ESP kit from CLK but keep running into locks that take a smaller spring than is in that kit. Unfortunately wafer locks usually don't have a manufacturer name on them or at least that I've seen in my short time in the business. Is there another wafer rekeying kit out there with smaller springs? #LockBoss
