Terry emphasizes the importance of moving beyond individualistic perspectives and finding tools to support relational growth and flourishing. Throughout the conversation, he shares stories from his practice, discusses the phases of relational work, and highlights how to access relation mindfulness from our Wise Adult. Listeners gain valuable insights for relationship resilience and an understanding of addressing both shame-based and grandiose aspects in relationships. For those interested in Terry Real's work, he mentions his new book US and his highly successful (RLT) Relational Life Therapy training programs for mental health professionals.
55:43 The episode features Loch offering a guided practice called Peer Inquiry Practice. This practice can be done by yourself with the recording or with a partner taking turns reading and answering the inquiries.
Here are the written inquiries for the Glimpse Practice: 1. When awareness drops below the neck and opens, what does this open-hearted awareness know? 2. What does the welcoming heart know? 3. Is this awake awareness an experience occurring to you, or is this who you are? 4. What is the relationship between awareness and any unpleasant feelings? 5. What is the relationship between awareness and beliefs and stories? 6. What is the relationship between awareness and the fear of the fear of death?
These mindful glimpses serve as invaluable tools for experiencing ways to access the awake consciousness that is already here within all of us. You can now explore all of Loch Kelly's practices and teachings on the new Mindful Glimpses app, found at lochkelly.org/mindful-glimpses. Thank you. It was a delight to hear two aware, awakened men discussing how to be mindful in the middle of their relationships. In my experience most women hold around 90% responsibility for the state of the relationship, as reflected in Terry's comment about wifes sending their husbands for therapy.. Thank you for demonstrating compassion for both men and women in the context of their patriarchy dominated socialization. .❤🐞
