I think one of the best parts about Jackie as a character is that, once he dies, there is nobody who fills his role. Throughout the rest of the game, you never meet a character that is anything like Jackie. It really emulates what it feels like to lose someone.

So no, V didn't instantly die - it would explain why V was still in control when nanobots repaired the damage (making both V and Johnny live in 1 body). All the while in about the span of an hour or so we grew to love Jackie with our whole hearts. I find it awesome how CDPR was able to get to love a character so quickly and so strongly.

The Cyberpunk writers did a good job making you feel like you've lost something dear so soon into the game, but this melancholic track puts that moment on another level. To continue the game without Jackie shows how powerful the Cyberpunk storyline/production actually is. Not enough credit, I say!
I feel like I could have been a little bit in love with Jackie before he died, later finding comfort in the arms of River after we help him find his nephew, and avoid the full extent of what we experienced. River is so sweet and understanding.
The heartbreaking moments seeing V and how it affected them really planted it in for me, it wasn't just Jackie who died that day, a part of V did as well.

It wouldn't. Jackie died from blood loss and wound like that. V died from a headshot. Different. Headshot damaged the brain, and the chip instantly started working on the recovery of that etc. Whereas Jackie died due to the blood loss.

I remember seeing Jackie dying, and soon as I heard this song, I bursted into tears. This has to be one of my favorite songs in the entire game, and I thank you for posting it. This game may have problems, but the soundtrack definitely isn't one of them :(
I have experienced Jackie's death 4 times now, and it never gets any easier. I still cry like a baby every damn time. And just a few minutes ago I was looking around his garage. Misty and I find the sand mandala and this track kicks in and it all just comes rushing back.
Even though we all knew it was coming, this scene is one of the most emotionally affecting moments I've ever experienced in a video game. I felt every bit of the agony that V did during this moment. I have my issues with Cyberpunk overall, but this moment was one of the most incredible moments I've ever experienced gaming. Period.

I couldn't feel emotions for Jackie cuz I saw the trailer that spoiled Jackies death, but I couldn't help but feel heart ache when I had that last conversation with Johnny as they both flew above Night City.

For a game setting where the central premise is questioning what humanity is and pushing the limits, this game touches on so many human themes it's unreal.
If this song and scene doesn't go down in the history of gaming as one of the saddest main character deaths ever I'm going to be even more sad than I was watching Jackie die in all my playthroughs.
my friend was pretty invested in the game at this part. he really loved jackie. I wish they had given him more screentime to make it hurt worse though. i feel a build up and arc of spending time just vibing on some character building time would have added so much more to jackie. i do love the character though. one of the better people in the game

I’ll admit when he first died it didn’t impact me much, but when I went to his funeral it hit me so hard my eyes flooded and my mum asked me if I was ok and then she saw the screen realised it was a funeral and went “oh”
I felt really sad when I saw Jackie die right in front of me, without me being able to do anything to stop him from dying and then this music started playing, it really made it hurt. Jackie was such a great person and to lose him so soon, I thought he wouldn’t die and would stay with us till the end… 😪
