Thanks for the vid :) I've just bought a laptop with the same type of keypad, and I needed to know if the keys are removable like in my old laptop. So now I know :) Also, the metal bar under longer keys makes them more stable, I'd say. Without the metal bar the key would bent sideways when you press on a side of the key and not right in the middle. I tried once to remove the metal bar from under the space key, and the space key was useless without the bar to support it.

@@PC_Monkey seems fine to me, it's on a laptop. If a part of the key assembly has been lost, then you would need to replace it for the key to work properly. I usually get my keys on Ebay or www.replacementlaptopkeys.com. If you cannot find a loose key for sale, you may have to purchase a keyboard and take a key from there.
YES THANK U THANK FUCK IT WORKED MY DAD WOULD OF KILLED ME TYSM EARNED SUB TYTYTYTYTYTTYTYTYTYTYT
Glad your all set :) Always here if needed !!
Its same model, but do that work?
Edit: what model of screwdriver?
You just need a small one. Its not specific to a certain model driver :)
Hello there I have a bunch of keys are not working anymore: "ESC", "left CTRL", "A"," Q", "left SHIFT". I don't understand if it's a mechanical problem or just a software problem.I reinstalled the keyboard driver but I didn't solve. My laptop is an ASUS N751JX
Do the keys feel like they are physically fine or do they feel like they have something mechanically wrong with them?
@@PC_Monkey they seem phisically fine. They suddenly stopped to work a few days ago
@@fabioa.565 And you tried the update steps seen here? Did this happen after some update or something?
@@PC_Monkey It happened suddenly without a valid reason. The day before were working properly and the day after not. In your opinion Is it possible that a damaged key could affect other keys? I mean they are not connected in series, are they?
@@fabioa.565 No. If those steps dont help, then I would try unplugging the replugging the ribbon cable for the keyboard. Make sure its not just a bad connection. If not, I would replace the keyboard.
Hi how do i put back the left arrow key since i can't put it back and im dead serious in trouble
i did put the clip but it won't snap
hey that black key thing dont make that sound when i stick it to my laptp and i cant really just make it work ?
If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.
I have an ASUS TP550LA and the W key is stuck down. What is the issue? Can I use your same technique in this video to remove the problem key?
Yes, you should be able to fix that with this video. Its possible that some dirt or particulate has become stuck under the key and is stopping it from working. Its also possible that the Retainer Clip is damaged or has come loose. You wont know until you remove the Key Cap and look under :)
@@PC_Monkey Thanks PC Monkey!
@@PC_Monkey I removed the cap and it appears as though the very tip of the silicon plunger has broken off. Is there any way to repair a broken plunger?
@@cwsrad You would have to purchase a new one and glue it down in place of the old one. Try to find a loose individual key for sale on Ebay, Amazon, etc. That would be your cheapest bet :)
@@PC_Monkey OK. Thanks. What type of glue should I use? Superglue? Do I just carefully scrape off the existing rubber spring and then superglue the new one in place?
some ants enetered my laptop when i opened the key cap it all opened i was depressed but u helped me,Thanks a lot and also pls tell me how do i remove the ants

@@zgamin1735 Glad your all set !! I would open the computer as much as I am comfortable doing and then vacuum out / blow out the computer to fully clean it.

and also u had made me a key cap opener engineer 🤣😅
Will this method work on this model: Asus K541U?
The same principle and procedure will apply. The hinge clip may have some small differences but it will be basically the same:)
LMAO I WAS AS GENTLE AS POSSIBLE AND THEY CHIPPED LIKE NOTHING GGS
I have asus a541uv laptop and I am having problem with it num key 4. The problem is that the key work automatically when I turn on the laptop and fill the password and then it doesn't work. Please reply and tell me the solution

@@PC_Monkey thanks for the help
what do i need to change bro? do i need to change the key or the square inside?
You would need to replace any part that is broken. I dont understand your comment
what if i already did what you did but still not working? do you think my keyboard need to be replaced?
If the key feels mechanically working with no issues going up or down, then yes, its most likely an issue with your keyboard :(
What will happen if I did not connect the keyboard wire with mother board?
Um... then the keyboard wont work :)
My F10 key popped off and there is no black clips inside everything is white. What should i do now.
BTW it's new laptop 😢
I checked it before taking it but, when i came home the key popped off.
The clips dont have to be black. They are different colors with different computers. Mostly, they are black or white. Where you able to reinstall the key assembly as seen here? If not, why? What is happening?

i spilled coffee in my laptop keyboard
i just need to clean because the 2-3 buttons are very unusual or slow to type
i just want to clean and put the buttons back
my model : Asis vibobook 15 s510un....
let me know please
Then you can follow this video to show you how to remove them. Then I recommend cleaning with an alcohol compound so it evaporates quickly but its still good at cleaning the sticky stuff :)

It's working now
thank you so much :)
@@saeemislam8981 Great to hear :) Good work!!
can u do about the arrow keys. I cant seem to be able to put the up arrow key back.help
If you cant put it back then I would guess the most likely cause is the Retainer Clip not being installed correctly. Possibly its broken. Compare it to another one to make sure :)
You can change a Qwerty Keyboard to a Azerty with this
But the key input will be the original alphabet unless you reroute the signals.
I have asus too, my problem is that i have bios password on and my keyboard is entering a wrong letters(i use another external keyboard because of it but the external keyboard got damage too). Buying another external keyboard wont change anything because the laptop keyboard is still broken...
I dont want to pay for fixing because in my country... Cant trust what people are saying or theyd just rip me off and go money making on me or theyd mess up my laptop for bigger problems. . But if i do it alone... Id probably broke it. Now i can only complain ..thank you and i hope my problem will be fixed..
After getting another external keyboard, you should be able to get by the BIOS Password if you remember it. After that, replacing a keyboard is not too hard of a repair as computer repairs go. You should be able to find a reasonable cheap used one on Ebay or Amazon :)
I bought new keyboard but it didnt work as well. Cant press the buttons and with bios password set up...im doomed. I think the problem is the drivers? Or my laptop is just too dusty and dirty need advice thank you. 😭😭😭
y is my key not comming back out

Can i salvage the key from different model asus laptop?
Usually not. You need the exact same key assembly as your keyboard uses and thats hard to come by in other models. Sometimes, even computers of the exact same model number will use different keys lol.

my retainer clip is under the key not on the keyboard (like yours). what do i do?
It should still be the same basic design. Two plastic components fitted together and 4 metal pins near each corner to hold it down. Correct?

I need the black circle to clip my key back on. Where can I buy it?
I usually have the best luck finding individual keys for sale on Ebay or Amazon. If you cant find the one for your model, try purchasing a keyboard instead and taking what you need from there :)
PC Monkey No but I just need the Black clip. I have the Key. It’s just that place holder that holds it is broke. What do I call that circle ⭕️ think that holds it? I’m trying to look.
PC Monkey I’m talking about the item u used in 3:50 of the video. I need that to put the bottom control key back in place.
@@tree3y763 Thats the retainer clip. Most likely you wont find that for sale all by itself. They are sold in sets.
Will this fix 1 key typing 2. Ex. b typing br

ok so the retainer clip its not broken right the top parts sticks and the bottom doesnt the two bottom parts of that retainer are just not sticking like the top as i said it isnt broken

What stops a key from working?
Many things can stop a key from working. It depends on how your key is not working. Does the key feel like something is physically wrong with it or does it feel like its mechanically working fine?
@@PC_Monkey seems fine to me, it's on a laptop. So in your video you demonstrate how to replace an individual key, what I'd like to know is what would cause it to stop working besides the obvious (no liquid spilt, hasn't been dropped/damaged, key depresses & returns as normal like other keys) one day the 'y' key just stopped working so for that particular key I have to use the on-screen keyboard which is annoying 😔
