Xbox Series S/X PPSSPP RetroArch Core | PSP PlayStation Portable Emulation | Setup | How To Guide

Sony's PSP's library of games offers some excellent exclusives, and if you're not into gaming on the go, you can experience them all through the excellent PPSSPP PSP emulator RetroArch core on the Xbox Series S and X!
We'll walk through the process of installing and setting up the PPSSPP RetroArch core within the Xbox's Developer Mode, covering everything you'll need to get PSP games up and running!

Any idea how to get everybody's golf to run in "skip buffer effects" mode but avoid the black screen on launch of the game(game still runs in background but black screen??
If I leave it in buffered then everything loads but the bar to take a golf shot goes mega slow.
I have ppsspp on my android phone as well and skip buffer effects helps the golf power bar work fine on android,even though the main screen goes black during a golf swing,you can still see the the power bar which runs fine.
On the xbox series x via retroarch using ppsspp,the skip buffer effects gives a black screen for that specific game(may be others) at launch.

I just did a little bit of research, and it looks like if you kick it down to 30fps it should fix the black screen issue. I’ll try to see if there are other solutions.

Outrun 2006 looks terrible on my Series X on PSP. Any ideas?

I haven’t messed with Outrun yet, but I’ll take a look this evening and see what I can come up with. I’m assuming you’ve upped the internal resolution already?

@@HalfCircleForward, now all I get is a black screen when I start PPSSPP for all my games. Sound is there, but no video. Not sure what happened. It worked last night.

Now that is weird! Head into Settings>Drivers and make sure that your video driver is set to d3d11. I’ve read in a couple of places that the PPSSPP core can change the driver setting for some reason (I haven’t dug into it too much though).
I also took a look at Outrun, and it looks like the menus are just using low-res images, so there’s not much we can do to bump them up. However, in-game looks crisp in both 1920x1088 and 2400x1360, though again, some of the art assets are a little flaky in both.
I’ll keep playing around with it to see if I can tweak anything else to get it looking even cleaner.
