Nicely done. I've had to replace this part now three times in my 2013 F-150. I don't remove the center console. Just the radio and center dash panel. Ford quoted me like $60 for the part. It's under $10 on Amazon. THEN, the kicker, Ford quoted me $2,000 in labor saying you needed to remove the entire dash and it was a full day job. It takes me about an hour. It's tight and a pain, but for under ten dollars and an hour of my time, I'm back to 100% functional and saved $2,050. Not bad.
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but I’m actually really impressed that you’re able to hold a camera/phone while you do this with one hand while the other is doing the heavy lifting, when necessary. Good job. And thank you.
I changed this actuator a couple years ago. I was looking for a video on the lower one for the driver's side. The passenger's side actuator was in a tight spot, however, instead of taking out the entire dash, I lowered my glovebox and accessed the actuator through there. I got mine replaced in about 20 minutes without taking the entire console and dash apart. You're video is pretty instructional though and gave me a better idea of how much Im going to have to take apart to get to the lower one.
There’s a video here on RUclips that shows an easier way but you gotta cut a little part of your heater duct but you won’t be able to tell everything will be covered lol hope you find the video
This is the best video I’ve seen on replacing the blend door actuator for this model truck cause it has the center console. I had to replace mine a few years ago and followed this video, removed the center console and shift linkage. Ended up breaking my shift linkage in the process. Ton of unnecessary work Had to replace mine AGAIN this weekend and you can just pull off your head unit gently with both of the panels on the side without removing your console.
I just finished replacing my upper actuator on a 2012 FX4. For me it was necessary to pull the center console back about 2 inches but I didn't have to remove the shifter linkage, just removed the shifter screws. In order to do this I had to unscrew the 6 bolts holding the center console and the 4 bolts holding the shifter to the console (same as this video from GreaseMonkeyMods). At this point you can jiggle and lift the center console back 2 or 3 inches. No need to disconnect it's wire harnesses. I think some trim packages are different but mine is the same is this video. The reason I had to pull the center console back was because of the screws that GreaseMonkeyMods shows us at 5:03 (the left side and right side trim screws). Pulling back the center console allows access to the screws and enough space to pull the trim away from the dash. Thanks GreaseMonkeyMods, I subscribed.
Haha nice video. Was a little skeptical about tearing it all out but it was easy following your steps. Now the other one on the passenger side is clicking. Here we go. Thank you!
Thank you for this step by step video~ you saved us $1000.00! Like you said, it was not difficult, just time consuming especially that back screw on the actuator.
There is no reason to remove the whole center console, to remove the radio and access the top (passenger) actuator. You only need to go as far as the gear shift /cup holder cover. Easily removed with no more than 2 bolts and a number of clips. If you want to gain access to the lower actuator, you do need to remove the console.
I changed mine without having to remove half the stuff you did. Only removed the dashboard and that’s it. Once I removed the radio I had a clear shot at the actuator.
Hi, great video by the way. On my 2011 f-150m my blend door actuator is clicking. I can't change the volume of air and now I only have heat going to the drivers side, the passenger gets cold air. If I replace the actuator behind the radio will this also fix my air volume control or am I looking at repairing something else? Thanks
How about 2017 f150 xlt,I had 3 actuators on my truck driver side, driver side corner floor and deep inside the glove box. Problem is air is full blown on defrost and weak on the feet, But when I switch lights on all ,defrost, center and feet I got nothing on the center I got heat and cool, got nothing on the center and weak when I select center only. I change the blend door driver side but same thing.
Actuator it allows you to convert the air from top to bottom, middle or bottom. I only get air in the middle so I did what I exactly what you did. I replaced it thinking that was the problem and still no results with the new part. I don’t know what else to do all I’m doing is getting air in the middle, nothing on a defrost and nothing at the feet blower works fine. Buttons are work fine. I just don’t know what else to do.
Which actuator is it if there is hardly any air coming out any of the vents? Dash selector doesnt change the selection... and blower motor is working fine. But it sounds like there is a damper closed shut.
Have a question about air flow. Replaced the blower motor and it still is not blowing air with force. Air is coming out but not enough to cool the inside of the truck. Just wondering if it is the blend actuator?
Hello, I have a 2016 F150 Lariat and have lost heat on the passenger side. I have been watching videos and I believe it is the passenger blend door actuator...which I have seen you can do yourself, but you have to take part of front console out and then go through the air vent on the right of the console, is that correct?
Replaced all 3 of mine on my 2013 xlt 5.0 crew cab this year. The one behind the radio is going bad (clicking again) when it's on full cold. Here's the weird part that's never happened in the 30yrs of driving....3 weeks ago as I was heading to go deer hunting, started the truck up and the center bezel didn't come on. No radio, no climate control but the heater blower was blowing low heat (knob was on high though). After driving for 35mins, everything came on by itself and the actuator behind the radio clicked til I pushed the power button on and the radio (ford sync) came on at the same time with the clock reset to 6pm. This does this everytime I shut the truck off for at least 15mins or more. No idea what's wrong. Heard these black bezels go bad eventually and may go buy one first. EBay has them for $90-$150. Anyone else ever have this issue? Sucks not to have a radio or any heat on high til I have to drive it 35mins or more til it decides to work.
So I changed mine out in the fall and it’s now spring here . I noticed my ac doesn’t work anymore ! I tried pulling #46 fuse to re calibrate but nothing , doesn’t seem the door is moving although I can hear the motor moving ! 2011 f 150 xlt 3.5 eco
There are 3 actuators on my truck , a driver side ( Circulation ) , a passenger side ( Mode, defrost, ect... ) and a middle behind the radio ( Temperature ) can you clarify driver, passenger, or middle to simplify the location. I am not sure if I need to replace the passenger or the middle.

Hey Bo, 2 yrs later not sure if ur still responding to questions but I don't have any illumination to my radio controls and none of them work at all. The only controls that work on my dash is the climate controls, which is why I'm here in the first place because I have no heat and all I hear is the door popping. Do you think it's something as simple as blown fuses?
This is the heater blend door actuator. Replacement. I’m trying to find a good video on the Mode actuator. I haven’t seen one for the recirculation actuator either.
@@WyccaGaming I found this one. ruclips.net/video/6SYjYj9jB6s/видео.html And I didn't have to remove the gas pedal like he does you can just leave it on.

Mine is the same way coworker’s are saying blend door might barley be open allowing hot air to come through making it not as cold but idk that’s why I came here to this vid but it seams it’s only if you can’t change the modes. My air comes out somewhat cold just not enough to drop the fan from 4 down to 1
What does that one control? What are the symptoms? I changed the lower pain in the ass one because it was clicking. It’s stopped clicking but my defrost won’t come on. I checked the one by the gas pedal and it seems to be working correctly. Could this one behind the radio be why my defrost won’t work?
