Was at raf museum yesterday. They sold irvins in the gift shop for 1030 £ It felt heavy fluffy quality I must say. Like the one you are wearing. I was introduced to them thus. Now I have a leather goal in life
I went to duxford in 2009 and the jackets they were selling were excellent quality. Went back last year and they were terrible. Museum was great though
The difference between the "good" ones and the bad ones is that they use veg tanned saddlery sheepskin. The cheaper ones use the kind of sheepskin they use in mitten and shoe Linings. Minimum pile height should be 15mm for a good one. Edit: I've come to learn a lot about sheepskin jackets now having 1 Irving, 1 b3 style jacket and a couple of other shearling jackets and few overcoats with mouton or sheepskin collars. The chrome tanned ones are also really good. In fact, only my Irving is veg tanned and it was custom made as a gift. Turns out, there really is no distinction between sheepskin used for boots and mittens and sheepskin used for clothes. Since the flesh side is exposed, the surface can be corrected and since the grain side is inside, it doesn't have to look perfect. Moreover, I have a biker and moto (cafe racer) style jacket both in suede shearling custom made in Pakistan and they're great. They're the perfect jacket for a London winter though maybe just good for fall here in new york. The Chinese jackets are good but Korean made ones are better. Just find a good brand. The pile height is a critical factor though.
@@francoislefebvre4152 which one did you get? I 2 from China as well as many wool overcoats from there as well. I was blown away at the quality when I went to Shanghai. More importantly, it's a country where tailors will add sheepskin or fur to a garment if you want whether its just trim (cuffs and collar) or a whole lining. I have a black rabbit fur lined trench coat in 100% Egyptian cotton gabardine with ykk Excella zips.
@varun009 it was a piece of shit!!! It was a scam!! Unbelievable!! M'aider sheap vinyl and Unbelievably ridiculous the lining was made of sheap synthetic fur. I have tried to put a bad review on there site but it doesn't stay on!!! Crooks low life fu...er!
You just confirmed everything I suspected about those cheap shearling bomber jackets; I think they use photo of the expensive ones to sell their knockoffs.
My dad was in the RAF, and I bought myself a sheepskin flying jacket when I was 19, and he resented the fact that it was seen then as a item of fashion, and I had to sell it. That jacket that you have looks as expensive as it is, and seems to be top quality. I hope you don’t sell yours!
I love this collection in the journey to get a true genuine quality RAF IRVIN jacket. I love Irvin’s and yours is just gorgeous looks rugged and just immaculate. Great pick. I have 3 one by Oakwood when I didn’t have enough money. Then I got lucky enough to find a USAF Vintage real one not sure what war but for a great price and I just ordered a B3 antelope high street one from represent Clo appreciate your appreciation for such an undeniable menswear classic staple. Rock On Bro
The real deal is gorgeous and will definitely go the distance, a purpose made garment like that is meant to be an investment like a pair of heritage boots or ray bans you take care of them and you only have to service them periodically its a whole different game compared to just wearing anything that fits until it doesn't or it wears out but your always at the mercy of ill fitting and poorly made off the shelf stuff, which is adequate for most things; but you only live once.
Your B3 bomber journey resonates with me dude, So there is hardly anyone reviewing women's shearling bomber jackets, so Im glad I came across your video. I did the same thing you did, I saw a shearling one on eBay, looked at the great feedback and bought it for $421 when it came two days ago it looked just as you put, it like a halloween costume, omg it was BEYOND HIDEOUS 🤮and I was pissed...I'm pretty sure it was totally fake hide with real wool like glued to PU leather, so bad. Anyway, I still haven't gotten my refund but its freezing out here now so I went and bought the real thing at Overland sheepskin co, the Jane b3 bomber for $745....I hope its even half as gorgeous as your Irvin jacket.
@@Shadowmoon999 I returned it! It made me look so fat. Ive given up and gone with The North Face’s Shelby raschel parka. Bomber’s look so good on guys they are kinda mens coats anyway, I just couldn’t find one
Thank you. Very informative. As I was looking the at original Ivin Jacket (since I was born in Letchworth ,Herfordshire,UK), where the parachute factory was. But like you say they are expensive ( £1000 ), so thought about a copy🤔🤔🤔. After you video and comments decided that I WILL cough up the big money and get the original. Thank you once again.
I bought a chinese cheap skin, look great on photos, when you read the inscription ask the questions, sheep skin with genuine sheepskin fur, you may by sheepskin but the fur is synthetic, sent it back and paid the correct price for the 1 like yours, i had my other 1 for 40 yrs and not a break in it, but fancied the same colour as yours in stead of the off white cream colour, I bought the sheep skin leather news boy cap to match, my schott tan leather a2 with bellows lasted for ever, the law of averages, pay little and get a lot cant be done, fur lined Luftwaffe boots last, heavy but super tuff,
I was lucky enough to purchase a secondhand mark v1 jacket for only (£10:00) the other day ..I'm really over the moon with it .. I'll be very snug this coming winter ..ps I don't drive .so I made the 50 mile round trip on a mountain bike to go buy it ..well worth the effort and energy I put in to go fetch it ..
I bought two Sherling coats from eBay from and are authentic but they were vintage which had some wear and minimal tear but that is what makes it better in my opinion. I did buy another one which was higher in price but it was from china, and let me tell you I returned it right away. The China made one feel cheaply made and not real at all. That last one you bought seems very nice and hope you enjoy it very much. Thank you for sharing your views.
I went through the same journey before I arrived at my current shearling B3 that I got for just shy of $1,000. I tried getting these cheap ones for $200-$250 off of Etsy and EBay making sure to always get “real shearling”, the problem is, those cheap Pakistani ones came with USED shearling that has been salvaged from carpet. So not only was it used but it was carpet grade wool. I learned the hard way about the different breeds of sheep and making sure it’s MERINO shearling wool on the inside. It’s like night and day…
For authenticity purposes you would have ordered your jacket without pockets? Is there a website you can recommend to see the jacket without pockets? Yours is beautiful. Exactly what I want when my money is right
some thing happened to me. bought some leather goods from a "going out of business" sale website and it screw me over with their plastic looking leather.
I tried they refused and instead sent me a even worse jacket but I ended up with the extra jacket for free cause they sent it as a replacement even tho the replacement was fake and not real sheepskin
There is only one genuine Irvine jacket. Made by Aviation Leathercraft in the UK. They have the original licence and are the only manufacturer allowed to use the name.

Original Early WW2 RAF Irvin Flying Jacket - Wired Attributed blighty militaria $1367.42
Hey great video mate thanks for your dedication in showing people it's got to be an Irvin .
Thanks for the video Bro. Hugs from Rotterdam

Yours is beautiful. Exactly what I want when my money is right
Eastmen leather.com is what I recommend
On the bright side you can use the cheap one to clean the floor 😂
Great video bro
Man U look incredible in those!
Thanks for sharing
Hello, thanks for providing this video, would you happen to have the link to the Amazon jacket you started off with ?
Hey whilst watching video. I have noticed you have a spirit orb around you. Have you lost anyone recently?
Black Rock leather conditioner. Keep up leather
i received my "battle of the britain" flight jacket today, from noble house company.
Nice
Check out what Shawn from five star leather can offer .I highly recommend them
You should put up the link where you bought it…
How much did u smoke? My bro😂😅😂
Too much 😇😂
Why wouldn’t you return the jackets, especially the Amazon one, if it was fake shearling? You don’t even need a legitimate reason to return it?
Can you post a link to where you bought your RAF jacket? The nice one with red leather.
I recommend eastmen leather
Queste giacche vendi,il prezzo
thanks dude
some thing happened to me. bought some leather goods from a "going out of business" sale website and it screw me over with their plastic looking leather.
buy used vintage, much better price and quality
Any thought on overland jackets?
I don’t really care for them cause I go for the authentic ww2 jackets but for jus a normal sheep skin coat i would guess they would be alright
there is only one company authorised to reproduce the @IRvin@ and that is aviation leathercraft,,, they supply the battle of britain memorial flight
Thanks man, great info. Good job on the video.
the cheap one is prob real sheepskin leather but its fake faux lining its called "sherpa"
how does the size mach up? is an xl really an xl or rather smaller or bigger?
Smaller the sizes are off
do you or anyone have any experience with Noble House or maybe Schott's?
No I don’t I prefer Eastman leather
So did you get your jacket back????
No never did. ended up buying a eastmen instead
Why didn’t you return the fakes back to Amazon?
I tried they refused and instead sent me a even worse jacket but I ended up with the extra jacket for free cause they sent it as a replacement even tho the replacement was fake and not real sheepskin

Wow, Amazon has become fake China sellers
@@Shadowmoon999 On Amazon? That is insane! You gotta get prime with free returns
