I feel like an idiot for only now realizing that Akechi picking the spicy takoyaki was huge foreshadowing that he wasn't observant, which is a key part of being a detective.
Oh my god you’re fucking right. Honestly i thought he was clowning it up so he could get closer to the thieves but this actually makes sense
I don’t think that’s true tho, what I’m sure is that he didn’t know what he was eating because we can see on the game and in the anime how smart actually Akechi is.
The pancake line is the most obvious though. It even gives Ryuji a good moment too
while he is genuinely quite smart, he still fails to notice some things. Most notably when he "kills" Joker during the true route. @@AdacherTrueSelf
I think it's more of a sign that while he's pretty smart, he can still let his guard down if he's not expecting opposition. He IS a teenager after all, so he's not going to be perfect, no matter how talented he is.

The scene immediately after that is also very sweet, it shows Ryuji, despite all the shit he takes and dishes out with Morgana, he still very deeply cares for him, one of the few things about this anime that did it better than the game, as Ryuji’s comments about him being useless in Mementos were kind of let slide

The Sojiro/Futaba episode is my favorite in the anime. It's very sincere.
I can see where this anime has its faults, it doesn’t fully do the palace segments justice, but the part at 11:30 with Joker in the arena against shadows is pretty cool.

If you have a Persona before its available, then you're either overleveled or got the Strength Confidant to Rank 10 (since this isn't Royal, where its Rank 5), so he is definitly using the Velvet Room.

@@jmurray1110i know this might be late, but Ren used Yoshitsune on Shido's Palace, despite one of the persona needed to fuse Yoshitsune (Futsunushi) only available when you max Morgana's Confidant, which is only occured on 23 December (a day before Yaldy's boss fight), so yeah this probably NG+ (or maybe an oversight)

Tbf. I think this part of the anime is somewhat decent. It manages to convey emotions of scenes that are just a bit bland in the game. The Haru Arc is really well made in comparison to the game. Also the casino's Boss battle is pretty well made with great emotional beats. Even the pacing got somewhat better.
It's definitely a bad anime but the last third manages to get more things right than wrong.

I know this is old, but I just love the fact that they used Okuninushi in the animation. That’s one of my favorite personas, especially in Scramble, just since it’s free Psychokinesis if you don’t have Haru in your party.

Lol that arena fight. I remember just using Grimakahla's wage war and letting them die from repel physical. (except for the 2nd fight where i just used a throwaway persona with makouga)
This anime is bad at showing the game parts BUT excellent in showing the story parts like the Hawaii and Destinyland vacation. Could've used that in game, even if just slideshows.
