today we ar fitting some upvc french doors in the rain i also take a trip to a builders merchant to get ripped off lo, hope you enjoy folks please leave a like rating and comment to see what videos you like to see, i will try get a brickwork one out for next thursday but as i say were up against the weather in winter.

Travis Perkins lists that gun at £10.36 + VAT which takes it to twelve and a half quid. Meanwhile the same thing is £3.49 in Wickes and £2.95 in my local hardware shop.
I walked out of my local Travis Perkins over ten years ago because I couldn't believe their prices. I don't understand how they can stay in business in a free market.

Crazy thing is tool station Wickes and Travis are all owned by the same parent company.
Prices in Travis as trade account holders should be 10 percent cheaper than Wickes at very least.

We live near CW Berry's in Leyland. Got to be the best builders merchants in the UK. Good prices for everyone, really helpful, great delivery drivers. A real class act. Deliver to Wigan too, Stu. The funny thing is, Travis Perkins is round the corner from Berry's- can't fathom out what they do all day- can't possibly have any customers!
Every time it's been handy to nip to travis for a few bits, I get the same service, how they keep going amazes me, you cannot beat a family run merchants for honesty and service. Nearly every time I've delt with travis I've had the same, I only use them if I have to stu.

Got half a dozen bricks to patch a hole in the wall where an extractor fan had been, charged me £16 at the one and same TP in Ashton. There is a diy shop accross the road which is cheaper for odds and ends. Likeing your videos.
There use to be a time when TP were competitive........... but now they are the same over here in Lincolnshire. Screwfix or toolstation every time.

I remember a merchants I went to as I was short on something was only a few quid, anyway asked the guy at the counter if he had any and he went out the back and fetched it me. Spot on mate I said just what I'm after, how much I owe you? Don't worry about mate he goes. Never been to this merchants before but guess what that's now a regular place for me because of that small gesture. I do like you motto too, never be able to make a first impression again. Sound advice. Travis Perkins take head! To be fair though the one local to me ain't too bad. I guess it's the luck of the draw.

Lesson learnt Stu, I always have @ least 2 of everything, I also think what tools I will need & check before I head out. I would of asked how many tubes of silicone come with the Gun. These guns are about 2 Quid over here in OZ. I have never missed the Rotten weather. Nice job once again. I felt the cold just watching this Ha Ha

Customer service is king as far as I am concerned. If you are polite you get my business, if not then you wont.
I had a monthly account for years.
Had asked for the best price for a product I was using but was running short so I sent the client to buy another and she paid 70 pence +vat cheaper than I paid for the same product. She has no account there, and I confronted the manager about it. My account is closed. And every day I drive past and the car park is empty I have a smile on my face. The sooner they close down the better.

I believe it`s fire regulations to open in as if something falls against them they cannot be opened fron the inside

Opening inwards takes up floorspace and obstructs you if you leave the doors open in summer. Opening outwards also lets you clean the windows with the dirty water falling outside the house onto your patio or path.

Are them doors made the wrong way round ? they are meant to open inover are they not? hinges on the outside as well
you can have them opening in or out mate, opening out gives you more room inside, its up to the customer
1:51 shows the cill drainage as open out so door is both manufactured correctly aswell as fitted correctly. Good job by the way.
And there in Stu is why I have not used Travis Perkins for five years and never will again.
To be fair to TP, the sealant guns you showed were the cheapest of the cheap and there are always better, more expensive guns out there.

Why didn't you just look for a Screwfix? Or Toolstation? Or any local hardware store lol also did you just measure the opening and order doors to fit that online?

Travis Perkins is nicknamed Top Prices even when you have an account. You can get a mastic gun for £1 in Poundland. Wickes are part of the Travis Perkins empire but for some reason undercut TP on cement, paving and other basics. TP has the advantage on deliveries though because Wickes will go only 10 miles from a store. TP will go to wherever your worksite is and with a truck that has rear-wheel steering can put your materials in a very tight spot. That's why I have a TP account - I live in the countryside on a bendy narrow lane.
Ha I'm from Abram went tp other day for some cls studwork timber (70 lengths)... He was £30 more than platt waz handymans!... Don't know how travis are still open I'll never go there again

I always avoid Travis Perkins. The branches in west London are way to expensive. And the customer service is awful.
Travis Perkins should think about prices, quality and service for everyone instead of supporting politically woke causes.
Hi wondered if i could get some advice my upvc french doors after shutting them theres a small gap at the top of the door near the middle between the seal and frame any clues how to close this gap up
the doors have dropped because they were installed incorectly, you need to take both panes of glass out and re pack them heel and toe :)

I'd rather have my fingernails pulled off and my teeth pulled out with a pair of rusty pliers than step foot into a Travis ripoff Perkins merchants , they get away with selling stuff at that price to the big builders who are knocking up 200 house estates up and down the country and then think they can do it on a local scale in the small towns..........Total Tossers.....

hate these doors as you cant just replace/change swing of the door you have to replace the whole frame.
A lot of these builders merchants are a horrible place to go if you are just a DIY'er. They treat you like scum. Unless you are in "the trade" then they think they can take the piss. So I don't bother and use Wickes, Bunnings, Screwfix or Toolstation.
