Instead of being able to concentrate on how it is done I was busy having to adjust the volume up and down so as not to have my ear drums blasted by the unnecessary music.
Stu you're such a legend mate. I'm a bricklaying apprentice and the different views i get from watching your videos -ie tips , about how horrible you apprenticeship was and even the little things just from watching you lay etc. Never stop uploading!! You're class.
Nice job again stu and k.c. just interested if you could do a vid on how you price a job for example if you go day rates or you go for block/brick m2 rates, like the extension did you say itll take say 3 weeks for 1 man i want 700 a week so 2100 or is it m2 rates.
Stu, I want a window and a door removed, so I can have a bifold. How do you advertise yourself? Are you a builder, or window and door fitter? What? What qualifications and accreditations should I look for, when I am looking for the people to do my job? thanks for your help.
Thanks for your videos. Does the elolution cutter have a connection for water on it? If not, would it work to attach the water hose up high on the line of cutting to eliminate the dust?
Top job, just wondering if you know the rough price you charged for this job as I see it was 6 years ago, looking at smdoing something similar I my new house
Do you need planning permission to change a window into french doors? Does it take one day to do the job? I wonder what the cost would be for the job alone (as the window might be more or less expensive according to one's choices.)
stu crompton so am i correct in thinking that if you're removing a window to fit doors.. they're is already a lintel.. or whatever they are called.. in place.... so it's just a case of remove and fit ? Thank you
Great video, keep posting and tell your dad he made me lol. Out of interest hiw much should I be paying for someone to supply and fit a set of basic French doors? And doing need a joiner or window fitter?
How do you ensure ur cut on the outside is the same on the inside (I imagine the stihl saw blade isn't big enough to go through both courses. Cut the brick take it out then do same with internally?) Also on a bungalow doing this on a wall with no window would u need a lintel?
How do u measure the hight off the door I got the window width do u measure from the floor off the house to top off windows as I’m 60 house so see damp course is difficult
Very nicely done! I asked my husband to convert our dining room window into french doors and build a patio to walk out on. Can you build a patio and film it? Or recommend a video on DIY outdoor patio building (wooden or concrete)
Good afternoon I have been watching your videos and was very impressed with the professionalism of yours I would like you to tell me how much a conservatory like this one costs to build I live in London Surrey Thanks Raphael
How much roughly does a job like that cost? I want a similar thing done, but this would be with a new french door as opposed to re-purposing. Looks the same size
Hi mate, how much would you charge roughly for converting a window to French door? The house is concrete with a render on the outside. Just wondering what I can expect from my quotes. Also, I need to have a patio installed. Do you think it makes a difference which order I have them done? Patio-doors/ doors/patio. Cheers
stu crompton all good mate. Any chance I could drop you an email or a message somewhere, I have a couple of questions you might be able to help with. Cheers buddy :)
I am planning a similar project like this for our bungalow. I plan to convert a 16 inch (42cm) wide window into French doors. I know this clip is about 2 years old but I’m hoping I’ll get a response from the channel’s owner or anyone who’s able to assist ☺️. How difficult a task is it to get the old lintel out and get a longer span lintel to go across the new French door’s frame? There’s about three courses of bricks on the lintel of the exterior wall. Thanks in advance 🙂
Here in Jersey we would sit those doors on a lead tray and a cill ( not always). Then we use fixings to secure the frame, then foam and silicone inside and out.
DanDiabloJSY hi Dan yes we all have our own ways of doing things so long as the job is right it doesn’t matter and the customer is happy that is the main thing and yeah thanks watching👍
Hi mate, think doors are supposed to open inwards with the hinges on the inside to protect them from being tampered with and prevent a easy entry into the home.
Hey i just found your channel and love the content! Its one of my dream to do what your doing, to build things like buildings by yourself but i also understand doing that job day in and out is therefore a physically demanding job. Therefore i was wondering, if you could do a video about the lifestyle yu need have, such things yu cant do (like eating certain like pizza or smoking all the time) and generally about the job/when yu should rest, like can you and should you work 7days a week- wont it lead to back ache and so forth. It would really help me and i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and btw keep up the great work!
stu crompton it’s more than likely that the path was laid years after by someone who didn’t realise this? The reason I say is this happened at my parents house and my old man had to chop away a similar path to alleviate damp.
I have one of these and they'll cut through rebar in concrete. Like Stu says, hold it tight like you would an angle grinder incase you do get a kick and you'll be fine.
I've done over 20 of those for several councils. Most were for terminally ill so they could have there beds outside to have a bit of sun and watch the birds before they pass. On a lighter note I really wanted that foam gun to play up and spew everywhere. You can't beat a bit of foam on your hands mixed in with dirt and dust. Number 1 on my list of things to get on your hands before you go out on a Friday night.😲😠😠😠😠😤🤣
How much does something like this cost?
what would the cost of this be?
Instead of being able to concentrate on how it is done I was busy having to adjust the volume up and down so as not to have my ear drums blasted by the unnecessary music.
Same here!
Maybe needs some audio compression to even everything out.
Waaa
Same....bin the music

Love your videos man, they've inspired me to go into masonry/bricklaying myself big respect from Canada,QC
''from thur and put 'em in thur'' Love it :D
😂😁
Nice work lads, but my house next door 😁
That’s for showing us how you do it? You know the part that you skipped and completely missed out
Hi! Looks great! I was wondering if you can share about how much this would cost? I am interested to do this on my master. Thanks!
Nice job again stu and k.c. just interested if you could do a vid on how you price a job for example if you go day rates or you go for block/brick m2 rates, like the extension did you say itll take say 3 weeks for 1 man i want 700 a week so 2100 or is it m2 rates.

Done this in an old cottage today. The walls were 2 ft thick. Absolute nightmare lol. Great vid though 👍🏻
Thanks for your videos. Does the elolution cutter have a connection for water on it? If not, would it work to attach the water hose up high on the line of cutting to eliminate the dust?

Hello! We are the manufacturer of laser welding/cutting/cleaning/marking machine, did you need these kinds of equipments in production ?
Really nice thanks, given us confidence to tackle a job 👍🏼 Thank you (nice to see you working with your dad). God bless 😁 xx
Hi Stu, I have a very similar construction to my house (old) so this has been very informative. How did you go about a ramp for the outside.
Do you need planning permission to change a window into french doors? Does it take one day to do the job? I wonder what the cost would be for the job alone (as the window might be more or less expensive according to one's choices.)

Hi. I am doing a renovation but the city wants me to move my patio door about 500mm to the left. Do you have a video like that? Is it costly? Thanks
I enjoyed your video I am doing the same thing too. good Job.
Thank you for sharing this. I have a window that I want to have converted to French doors so I am now confident that it is possible.
Did you do it?
@@krakatoa16 not yet 😂
@tomangler haha. Get it done man!
I want to do the same thing to a kitchen window but keep the hole as a walkway. Will the load of the bricks above be fine now the window is missing?
How do you ensure ur cut on the outside is the same on the inside (I imagine the stihl saw blade isn't big enough to go through both courses. Cut the brick take it out then do same with internally?)
Also on a bungalow doing this on a wall with no window would u need a lintel?
Great vid but thank goodness there's CC, because I can't understand a bloody thing you're saying 🤣
Just wet the bricks and it wont be ao dusty. You could even do it without a mask if there's continuous water being sprayed.
If you didn't notice he used an electric cutter to cut the bricks out! Not advisable to use water on it to keep dust down!
How do u measure the hight off the door I got the window width do u measure from the floor off the house to top off windows as I’m 60 house so see damp course is difficult
Those flags are way too high in relation to damp course, 2 course minimum ?
Great job lads, louie northern Ireland UK
Great Job as always from you and the master foam surgeon KC! Weather looks lovely.......
nice one bro and congrats on 107 subs :)
You was doing so well until you started gunning up in white that's a no go and you didn't use tape for straight line
Is best bricky your company 👍🏽👍🏽
Yes keenan
Very nicely done! I asked my husband to convert our dining room window into french doors and build a patio to walk out on. Can you build a patio and film it? Or recommend a video on DIY outdoor patio building (wooden or concrete)
Do you need to run this past the local planning authority?
It's allhood with the goggles and mask on but no safety boots?? If saw bites and spits out u could lose your toes , or your foot!
Don't be such a worrier
excellent performance....keep watching you from Greece!
Thanks my friend
You make it look too easy lol
You can’t change a window kind to a door kind.
Just a quick question the new doors are higher off the floor than the old ones not very disabled access from outside 👍
Tidy work mate. Handy being the right size!
Happy to fi d this video we are going to c9nver our window into beautiful French doors
You guys are clean, why can’t all builders be like this
Good afternoon
I have been watching your videos and was very impressed with the professionalism of yours
I would like you to tell me how much a conservatory like this one costs to build
I live in London Surrey
Thanks
Raphael
You don't anker the door to the wall then?
How much roughly does a job like that cost? I want a similar thing done, but this would be with a new french door as opposed to re-purposing. Looks the same size
Needa do similar soon. How come there’s no need to get the dpc under the door?
the cill is plastic
I REALLY REALLY DO WISH I COULD WORK AS DOORS AND WINDOWS FITTING MATE. ITS CHALLENGING WORK AND I REALLY REALLY LOVE DOING CHALLENGING WORK
Didn't any fixing into the brick just wedged and expanding foam surly that's not right
Yes I fixed it in Andy just didn’t film it, it’s very hard to do the job as well as film everything.
stu crompton fair play thinking of doing myself and had to ask the question
I don’t miss those days of a brick down 😬always knew when a team had jacked on a brick down as the van was still full of bricks 🤣
How come when you cut the brick, it didn't hit the voids and so give a ragged edge? Was it just luck?
Hi mate, how much would you charge roughly for converting a window to French door? The house is concrete with a render on the outside. Just wondering what I can expect from my quotes.
Also, I need to have a patio installed. Do you think it makes a difference which order I have them done? Patio-doors/ doors/patio.
Cheers
Did the first door have a sill?
Wish i could have mine done
How much is that kind of conversion? (Knocking the old window and putting a french door)
This video did really well stu! Good job boys. Haven't dropped a comment in a while, how are you stu?❤️
I’m great Ricky pal hope you’re good bro
stu crompton all good mate. Any chance I could drop you an email or a message somewhere, I have a couple of questions you might be able to help with. Cheers buddy :)
Yeah sure, email is in description Ricky 👍
How much does this cost? ish? and are you local to Wigan? sounds like you are!
Why did you not leave the DPC so that you had a double barrier, i.e. the door and DPC?

What size is that evolution saw and does it go through a single brick in one go? I've found a standard size stihl blade doesn't.great video.
Why you moved the old door? What not Just put the new door instead of the window?
Surprised to see toe protecting shoes were not worn while cutting bricks wall
Why not installed the new door where the window was without having to swap the old door?
Why you moved the old door? Just put the new door instead of the window
Can anyone tell me what foam they are using to secure the doors? Thanks!
Knowledge becomes easy once learning about these projects
Love these doors where / how can I find such that swing outside with protected hinges ?
Do you need a support beam if you replace a window with doors
Looks great
Quality job this is the kind of builder you want
Perfect, about to do this to one of my windows!
Hi mate, think doors are supposed to open inwards with the hinges on the inside to protect them from being tampered with and prevent a easy entry into the home.
😂
😍😍😍👍🙂

As soon as I get some money saved up I'm going for this. Hey it's Egress
I'd love to know how much it cost to put a new French doors in a windows place like that, cause I'm wanting to do that.
680 supply & fit the doors with no brickwork required to be done, rip out & refit.
My house great job done my keith and stu
Makes a real change to watch DIY in the UK 😋
Thank u. I am having my window out and putting French doors in... Great vid guys and great job.
👍
Thanks for this video! Im looking to getting a window in my small bathroom.
Do you always put expanding foam
What’s the cost of a conversation like this ?
Won't work on first floor
were not on the first floor but thanks for the info
Good job lads
How much should be charged to do this
Bloody Marvellous, Thanks
What was the reason for removing the DPC?
Great video as ever, just interested to understand what you use to get the cement off the old bricks. Thanks
Good job stu.....you two should be doormen....sorry I'll get me coat.,😀😀😀👍. Thought you'd retired whilst I've not heard off you for a couple of weeks.
ive been il pal and run down so ive taken a rest
Nice job thanks guys...
Cracking video Stu as always 👍🏼. Not that you have a choice but shouldn’t there technically be two course of bricks below DPC? I might be wrong? 🤷♂️
I can’t comment on houses built on the 60s pal 👍
stu crompton it’s more than likely that the path was laid years after by someone who didn’t realise this? The reason I say is this happened at my parents house and my old man had to chop away a similar path to alleviate damp.
It's 150mm as a rule but they are exceptions in new regs, one is that you can have 75mm as long as path runs a way from building
Why not just put the new door where you cut out the window and leave the old one where it was?
If you watch the video the new doors have disabled thresher on. They need wheelchair access in that room. Watch the video before you comment
Why can't all builders be this tidy!
gurinder kular they could have been tidier. There a lot of very good tradesman out there
gurinder kular cos they're not putting content on RUclips...
Longer vids stu please mate enjoy them too much! Cheers, good job though 👍
Those grinders, like the petrol ones, scare the hell out of me. What would happen if the blade snagged? Say on a wall tie or some other metal fixture?
well you have to be prepared for that buddy so always have a tight grip.
I have one of these and they'll cut through rebar in concrete. Like Stu says, hold it tight like you would an angle grinder incase you do get a kick and you'll be fine.

just looked at my hands and they have the tell tale signs of a foam blow out
Great job I love going hard landscaping when I can nice change
How long did this take?
