    I did this job last week on my 1998 Wrangler SE and followed your video. It was easily followed and very informative. I also did my front rotors/calipers and discs , so this was a complete 4 wheel brake replacement. the only good parts on my original setup that were good were the brake lines. When bleeding the rear brakes I made sure that all the old dark fluid was removed from the system before stopping and continued to the other wheels. I now have great braking power, and am confident that the job has been completed correctly. THANK YOU for the great video assist!

    Well made video, great camera work for a clear view of the assembly process. I didn't see any part where you added lubrication to the touch pads for the front and rear brake halves. The explanation of the brake lines was very clear and informative on the different was to complete the replacement process. Great information without being overly drawn out!

    When you adjust for the drums what are you looking for? Do I want the drum to turn freely or a little snug?

      I like to adjust the drums till they feel snug then back them off a few clicks till they free up. That should give you a good brake pedal feel. If they’re to lose you may feel to much travel in the pedal and poor stopping.

    I found this video as I'm trying to figure out why our 2000 TJ breaks are super sensitive. Any suggestions on troubleshooting that issue? If I was to do the same test you did at the end of the video, they would have locked up. One thing I have noted, when they do want to start locking up or under hard braking, the jeep dives forward and right. It's to the point my wife doesn't feel safe driving the jeep and it was her dad's jeep that she inherited a year ago.

      The first 3 issue I would look. 1 : Brakes shoes installed correctly 1 shoe has a longer lining then other, if installed backwards this could cause the issue. 2: Out of round drums could do it and 3: lastly the proportioning valve mounted below the master cylinder could be going bad or Debris in it cause the issue. Proportioning valve controls the force of the rear brake cylinders. During hard braking it will reduce the pressure to the rear drum brakes stoping them from locking up. If working properly all 4 wheels should lock up evenly.

    At 12:30 minutes on your video , lower right hand side of picture shows some other parts that are included in the kit. A brass pin, washer and a silver clip. Where do these parts go? Nobody shows them on RUclips videos

      I believe the parts your referencing are for an emergency brake cable attach. Some drums have a bracket style emergency brake and some use a pin that goes in the shoe, thinking that’s the parts your referring to. Thanks for watching and the question.

    You completely skipped the square oblong crossbar that goes between the two brake shoes at the top with the yellow square spring on it. 🧐

    Not too bad, audio and visuals were very good and easy to follow - a picture tells a thousand words sort of thing. Suggest mentioning putting small dab of brake grease on contact tabs located on back plate where edge of brake shoe slides over such contact - grease eliminates any rubbing friction noise; suggest wearing a safety breathing mask (3M?) since stirred up brake dust is very fine and not good for your lungs; suggest disposing of used brake parts at a metal recycle center; suggest when reinstalling tire, lugs be torqued to proper foot-pound load (too many tire centers don't own torque wrenches...that should be a red herring to potential customers); suggest mentioning brake drum interior should be inspected for any pitting, grooves or excessive wear - may need to be turned to smooth out surface or replaced (since there is a minimum safe thickness of the drum; WHEN CHECKING BRAKE DRUM DIAMETER FOR WEAR, THE DIAMETER SHOULD NOT EXCEED . 120" OVER THE ORIGINAL DIAMETER. WHEN REBORING BRAKE DRUMS, THE FINISHED DIAMETER SHOULD NOT EXCEED . 080" OVER THE ORIGINAL DIAMETER.); suggest when jacking up vehicle to use rated floor jack stands and not depend on hydraulic jack to support vehicle (safety first); suggest wearing solvent resistant gloves to protect fingers and hands from cuts and bruises as well as contact with toxic chemicals (brake cleaner fluid, brake grease, etc); suggest emphasizing self adjustment part is specific for driver and passenger side of vehicle as the adjustment wheel can be left or right handed threads - color coded spring is an indication which is which (black spring driver side?; red spring passenger side?); suggest placing disposable work mat (brown paper, towel, tarp, etc) under brake to collect dust and chemicals spills that fall to the floor - brake dust is messy to clean up; suggest painting exterior of drum (high temp enamel - black?); suggest coating inside of drum that makes contact with the hub (not on surface that brake shoes contact) through which lug pens go with anti-seize lubricant (Permatex?) which prevents drum from rust oxidizing and sticking/bonding to the hub - and makes for easy removal in the future; suggest when replacing brake shoes to also replace all springs with brake kit - too many aged springs may look ok but can be brittle and waiting to snap or not springy any more; suggest wearing eye protection as tensioned springs and foreign airborne material produced while doing the brake job can accidentally find their way into your eye - a safe job is more important than the job itself.
