Just sold my old copy recently, since I saw they had starting shipping these. As Backer #1 on this campaign, I'll probably be one of the last to get it being in Canada. Disappointed about no labels on the back of the acrylic tiles. I didn't get the terrain, since I thought it would just make it harder to play, but not sure if that was the right move, especially now that I see the acrylic tiles lack the back text.
Why do you want labels on the back of the tiles? That seems useless because the rule book and/or reference sheet can give that information. Plus, you don't need that once you already know how to play the game.
Reserving judgement on the terrain pack here. I ordered it because the FOMO on super cool and awesome trumped the rational expectation that “they’ll just get in the way.” Like many, I’m planning on sticker it the acrylic tokens. Can’t wait for my copy.
The lack of descriptive text on the back of the acrylic hex tokens were intentional, it's to make the premium tokens pack completely language independent. I bought it too but I really wish that they at least provided us with sticker sheets we can buy separately and stick on ourselves if we had to :(
I’m pissed off - that decision should been clear on the final pledge manager as didn’t know like alex that they weren’t adding text to the hexes. Makes them worse than the cardboard version
Many of us have been super annoyed about them not adding the words on the acrylic tiles. It’s not an oversight. They were clear it was to expensive for them and they wanted it to be language independent. They weren’t super clear for anyone not following it closely and already many people are super pissed about backing the acrylic when it Doenst have the words. It’s been a huge thing on their comments lol.
I understand being upset, but in their defense, the description of the tiles is only two sentences long. and the second sentence says there is no text on the back. So it didn't take a deep dive to be forewarned. I almost didn't get the tiles because of that, then decided I didn't care that much and ordered them anyways. Granted, anyone that just clicked all-in, likely didn't read the descriptions, but that's not really entirely AR's fault. But I do agree it should have been more clearly on the main page.
Its says it in the description though, were else are they going to put that info besides updates and the description of the tiles. This is classic board gamers getting nit picky because they didn't read updates and don't simply click on the item they were planning to get, to see if its what they want. @@CheddahSlammer it’s in the FAQs and the description of the add on. However, if you just back the pledges it gives a generic overview. On the description for the acrylic tiles, it says that they do not include text on the back so that they are language independent. I imagine multiple runs of acrylic tile variants is much more expensive than printing alternative cardboard tokens by language.
They could have just chosen 1-2 languages to cover the vast majority of their backers. Not a great excuse. What they really mean but don’t want to say is they just simply don’t want to pay the cost. Great unboxing. I actually backed this to gift to my brother who has owned the 1st edition of the game since forever. So it's going to be a nice surprise for him. I backed up-to the acrylic tiles, the full-terrain tiles definitely look cool, but from a game-flow standpoint I couldn't justify spending that much more money on it. Two biggest reasons are it becomes a lot more fiddly and in my experience 3D terrain things (mainly the castles) often block the view for other players, so it'd be a tad more difficult to glance and see what's going on at eachother's boards.
@@BoardGameCo I don't understand the meaning of your answer, sorry, not being an English speaker, we don't have the same shade of words. Presenting for children is different... 😉
Agreed. I mean the full terrain tiles definitely look cool but I 'only' backed up-to the Acrylic tile specifically for game-flow reasons. One other reason for not getting the full terrain tiles is actually some experience I've had with D&D full terrain and miniatures. When you're sitting around the table with multiple players 3d terrain often blocks the view. And in CoB you sorta want to view eachother's boards which is already kinda difficult from the other side of the table, but with those terrain tiles blocking the view it'd be even more difficult.
I absolutely feel that this is the best version of castles out there.. on the other hand, whether it's worth the price point is a different question entirely.

Be adult and throw all of that to the rubish.
lol as an adult I definitely have agency....but I'm not using it for the same things you are
@@BoardGameCo I don't understand the meaning of your answer, sorry, not being an English speaker, we don't have the same shade of words. Presenting for children is different... 😉

Sure it looks cool but man is this a step down in game flow.
It looks very "fiddly", yes
This still looks awful though.
Just such a horrendous looking game, its actually hilarious - its worse than the original which I thought was impossible 😂😂
This game is just one giant mess
I absolutely feel that this is the best version of castles out there.. on the other hand, whether it's worth the price point is a different question entirely.
Great opening! Loved your reaction to the missing text! Still waited for mine, did you get special treatment on delivery?
