For such a premium production of a game, this was actually a bit of a frustrating experience. For all the niceness of the components only to realize that just a few tweeks to the inserts would have made it much easier to store the acrylics. We are talking like an 1/8 inch change here or there. A sheet showing how to store the stuff would have been nice as well. Strange one is not included in the base game when one is included with the terrain pack. Thanks for this video, my box is nice and neat now!
Thanks for creating this. I wish more game developers would include how to organize the game in the manuals. I'm glad to see the acrylic tokens and hexes all fit in the box, the publisher said the hexes would, but not the tokens. I was hoping in that huge box there would be some spaces left to fit them in.
Great video Jenna - thanks so much for taking the time. I wrestled with my acrylics and eventually just gave up but now I have new hope. As you said, when I see missed opportunities by the manufacturers...."it makes me sad" 🙂
One of the favorite things for me in this hobby is unboxing, having 3d inserts and upgraded pieces ready, and efficiently putting everything back in the box. My wife calls it "doll housing" my games. 😁
Superb video. I put the worker tokens in the spot where you started plus below the dice. I put 1 worker token where you put the white hexes. Also I put the player 100/200 tokens in the hex spot in the middle of the tray with the ship hexes. Thus I have nothing in bags. I did not put any cardboard in there that does not have an acrylic replacement. I did not put the play board in there as I have the mat. Zero lid lift and everything is in there. Kept 3D terrain in its own box it came in. You did the best video/layout out there in my opinion.
I literally just went through this exact same process. I ended up storing the Cardboard pieces back in the boxes for the acrylic tiles and fit all the acrylic tiles in the bags and spaces in the original Box
Really enjoyed your video and looking forward to seeing more. Thank Rhado for the link and all my best wishes to your channel. Love the Canvas hanging on the wall too 🙂
I would love to see a channel on how you would organize a board game library. I struggle with ideas on how to put everything together, to make it logical, and pretty! I came here to figure out how to put this game away. So many components and I felt overwhelmed. Thanks for the guidance.
Thanks for the video. I placed the help sheet in the insert on top of the duchy boards and under the acrylic overlays; should help with any box lift you have. Also, kept the foam around the cardboard game board to keep it from sliding around as i store my games vertical.
Out of all the re-boxing videos I've seen for this game, I think this one is the best. I organized mine almost exactly the same way, but with a few very minor changes, so this video was very helpful.
Think of it more like Alex's unboxing and ramblings. Don't concern yourself on if the organization is interesting. I think most people are watching just to see you do something you are passionate about and listen to you as if we are in the room having a conversation. Just do you and enjoy it. The garden community will enjoy it too
Pretty much. I just toss on headphones and listen to board game videos. It's really nice hearing people talk about board games even if I'm not a fan of the game.
I just got mine, was really looking for a vid that tried to get as much in the provided inserts. One guy removed the inserts and just threw everything into plastic bags, other vid didn't bother putting in the acrylics. Then I found your vid, which was the best one. So I subbed as well.
I got my copy yesterday and sorted it with your help - thank you so much! However, I did a few small things differently: - I have completely left out the cardboard parts and the stand-ups - Everything redundant is now well packed in the Acrylic-Hex box - in the basement :-) - The Acrylic-Hex tiles are in the bags, but not the ones from the addons (27-29, geese, crane, 8 "white castles", pubs). I separated them into the plastic bag to start with the basic game. - This way there was enough space for all the workers in the small inlay The advantage of exactly this arrangement is that you can put the small part of the inlay on the table like this, while all the rest is just for the setup. At first I was annoyed that everything didn't fit properly, but in the end it was still set up as quickly as planned.
Just got my copy, haven't even opened it yet, very excited. I am very excited for the reorganizing of the game as I am always looking to combine expansions and main game boxes together. Would love to see a reorganizing series for other games!
I received the game today with all the components in this video, acrylic tiles and playmat. I've thrown away all inserts and successfully fit everything in the box. The cardboard components in plastic bags and the acrylics directly into their main bags. This way I don't have to spend half an hour to setup the game and re-organize everything in the box at the end
Aw man I wish this existed before I finalized my pledge. I got the acrylic hexes but not the acrylic tiles for the other stuff (workers, goods, etc) because they said it wouldn't fit in the box but after seeing you put everything in, now I'm kicking myself for not getting them! Looks fantastic though!
Thanks for the video. Will be useful for if I decide to pack the Acrylics in the main box. For now, I'm going to use the cardboard. I love the feel and look of the acrylics, but feel it was a massive missed opportunity to not print the rules on the backs like they did with the cardboard. If it gets to a point where I have everything memorized in this game I'm switching to the Acrylics in a heartbeat, but the rules printed on the back facilitate learning too much to set the cardboard aside for now.
Great video!! Interesting watching you have similar struggles and solutions I went through the other day. I actually was able to get the playmat in with little to no lid lift. First off, I think the cover you put on the top layer (The L shape + little box) is actually for the bottom expansion layer. You also can put the double tile grapes in their bag and it fit in the bottom tray. The key to getting the neoprene is unfortunately we have to kill the L shape box. So my final box layout from bottom up: was expansion tray, Duchy/castle/player pawn tray, loose sheets+boards, and finally a tightly wound playmat put in diagonally, the small tray (that normally is with the L) + I use the small acrylic tile box (w/ lid) in opposite corners. And then you squeeze the bags into the gaps around the boxes and playmat. In the small box with lid I put, most of the things in their correct location, but also moves the dice and castles into the box. Sadly I do have one baggy of the goods tiles that doesn't have a spot to live. I do have a 3d printer so I might make a replacement tray at some point to fit everything their final best spot Current the center board is not in the box (probably will live in storage along with all my cardboard I moved into the big hex acrylic box to live in a closet forever. Hopefully, this will help you get everything into the box!
Yeah I agree. I guess they did have to think about both people who don’t have acrylic and people who do. I think I made it work pretty well and I’m happy with how it turned out! 😊
@@TheBoardGameGarden yeah worked out great! I feel they tried to please both parties like you say, but, they could have made an insert around the acrylics then the cardboard only pledges could have had some foam maybe to pad out the space 🤔
Thanks! The only feedback / change I have is I left the redundant cardboard components unpunched and stuck them all the way under everything. A little lid lift but I don't need to worry about where they ended up. I also found that rolling the bags seemed to make them fit in rows.
Nice video! I moved some stuff around so I wouldn’t have to bag the workers and got them to fit. Also I took the lid of the terrain pack put it on the bottom of the box. I moved stuff around so it had about a 1/4” of room then put the normal special edition bottom part of the box in the lid and then put the top on. One box😂👍🏻
Got it all in with no baggies. Only for special edition (classic pledge doesn't have the four VP miniatures). Remove cardboard victory point markers and plastic holders. Put worker tiles there and next to the coins (both middle edges of the trays). I had one left that doesn't really fit anywhere so it sits on top of the bonus tiles. Two victory point tiles with the turn order markers (the little colored castles) and two where they're "supposed" to go (opposing corner of same side as turn markers). Everything else exactly like you did. it's not PERFECT, but it does all fit, and no baggies. I can deal with that.
I didn't get mine yet, but cannot wait for it to arrive and thank you for this video. I love when a company gives diagrams on how things are supposed to fit back into the box, but more often than not these videos are the best when figuring it out lol
You can actually remove the L shaped + little token box trays, put all the acrylic tokens in their coloured bags. Red/white tokens etc in the bottom wine expansion tray and/or a plastic bag (same with dice). Keep the small acrylic tiles box, put that one on the top and pack It with the bags on the top-layer. Then you can also fit the rolled mat in It, in a diagonal fashion. It's tight, but It fits, without lift, can stored in any orientation and also super quick to setup.
Muchas gracias. Me ha venido genial para organizar el mío. Pensaba que me faltaba una tapa de plástico, pero viendo tu video me he dado cuenta de que el inserto de los viñedos viene sin tapa. ¿por qué no se la habrán puesto? Saludos desde España.
I just got mine yesterday and love it! I usually set the two-in-one organizer on the bottom of the box so its less tippy. I find it odd that the game has three inserts and only two lids, but oh well
This video is brilliant! Helped me a lot to figure out how to organize my copy... how can they have not shared some official instructions on how to organize everything?
I really enjoyed this video - it felt cosy (almost asmr vibes with those clicky acrylic pieces), would be happy to see more organising videos. I do find your video colours a bit off quite soft/sepia/pinky. Overhead camera seemed good. 👍
Last thing, if you do end up getting a white balance/color card, you can adjust the camera’s white balance setting to work better with the color temperature of your light. (Marked K for Kelvin) 3000-4500 is yellow/warm lights, 4500-5500 is white, 5500-6500 is usually cool white but the whole scale can very depending. Something to mess around with and find the look you’re happy with!
This was so helpful! Especially since you have most of the same pieces I do. One question though: I’ve seen a couple of people have acrylic “tiles” (beyond the hexes), but I don’t recall that ever being an option to purchase. I don’t see it on the original pledge list either. I got the acrylic hexes but feel like I’m missing our on the other tiles. 🙁
Great video 😀 must admit when things weren't fitting my organisers heart missed a beat 😂 I'm wondering with the lighting issues you mentioned (I'm no expert) whether it's because the right hand side isn't as well lit and is more shadowed (especially with the huge box of CoB). So, the left side is more blown out than the right making the whole image unbalanced. Just a thought 😊
Did you ever try John Company 2nd ed? I got the box since I like historical topics, but it's VERY complicated. Looks very nice and well-researched though.
Nice video, just a suggestion (not trying to be rude), you might want to work on your lighting a bit if possible on the back right hand side (the view of the big box). I couldn't see the base of your big box when you put those tokens and vineyard bonus tiles. thanks a lot otherwise for this video, very helpful.
Congrats at getting all the content, minus playmat, back into the box. Most other content creators are tossing out the insert to get the content into the box. It's sad how many companies can't do inserts for game boxes and end up wasting resources, causing more plastic waste. I guess it's why GameTrayz exist, so few can do it right.
Im starting to think that the acrylic was never ment to fit in the original inserts thats why they have their own while the original inserts are strictly for the carboard pieces

Lolololol Loved watching that. Once again, experiencing your joy as you realized the ease of the punch board was priceless. Thanks for the vid. I'm starting to regret not ordering the super deluxe version, I went with the normal special edition.
Just got my copy here in Minnesota yesterday. Glad this video is out to assist my confusion. I love the collection you have behind yourself. Got a majority of them myself with some that i have had my eyes on. Enjoy the path to 20k ❤
So I can't understand how everyone can get their metal coins to fit in that exact spot, and mine won't fit and allow the lid to close because the ends are so curved they sit higher up than the rest of the coins. I opened a ticket for it, and AR told me the metal coins are an irregular shape and I should put them someplace else. Um, the box should have been designed with a specific place for everything, and how are coins an irregular shape? They seem round which is normal in every board game.
Some camera advice for you! Shutter speed should be double your frame rate. If your are shooting at 60 frames per second, shutter speed should be 120. F-Stop should be wide open, so if your lens’ widest setting (smallest value) is 3.5, that is the setting that lets in the most light to the camera sensor. For ISO, the rule of thumb is the lower the better. So once all the other setting I said are set, then we bring up the ISO until the image has “enough light”. Starting at 100 ISO and working your way up until you find a value that works for you. Seems like that number is 1000 but it might change after apply steps 1 and 2. Lastly, view finders and flip screens on camera are often terrible judges for final product when it comes to video. Getting a white balance/color card will help you see what’s going on. Take a short clip while holding the card, open the clip on your computer and compare between the camera screen and your computer screen. Hopefully this all helps you get to the look you’re going for!
I'm going to say the same thing here that I said over on your unboxing video...if you're going to do two cameras, make one of them a close-up camera so that viewers can see the detail of components that you keep holding up to show us!!! Currently, when you hold something up for the camera to show close-up detail all we see is a blurry blob. Have you ever thought about recording an example and then watching it yourself to see how good or bad it looks before publishing something on RUclips?!?! Also, your lighting is horrible!
For such a premium production of a game, this was actually a bit of a frustrating experience. For all the niceness of the components only to realize that just a few tweeks to the inserts would have made it much easier to store the acrylics. If you put the player aides under the bags in the first tray it should solve your lid lift :)

Thanks for this video! Just received mine today!
Hey Jenna, the sleeves for the big solo cards are 80x120, I got Sleeve Kings brand (SKS-8816) and they are a perfect fit.

Thanks for the demonstration. It worked for me. I hate to have to have more than one box!

"Insert Here" would be a decent title for your organization series. I couldn't think of another pun.
That box is huge!
Thinking of maybe getting this game in the future.
How is it solo? Been drawn to it more and more. That big box may be one of the resons:)
And another question. Do you need the big box?
Great video!! Interesting watching you have similar struggles and solutions I went through the other day. I actually was able to get the playmat in with little to no lid lift.
Making things look nice, yes, just look at the games on the shelves behind you!
I can't believe the acrylic tiles have no writing on the backside.
Great production value, but I hate the insert...
For the price of the whole thing, they should’ve been a lot more intentional about the storage.
add more lid lift, get the mat in there. There are too many components in this game to worry about it.
I call these reboxing videos.
This game never needed such components
They should of just had a cardboard or acrylic pledge. There's soo many wasted components, which is why I skipped this one.
