@@BlitzDG Honestly it sounds like you’re speaking to me! 🤣 I have a lot of those things going on - it's practically a checklist and I've started to work out the underlying problems behind it. In my case it's more than just a) shrugging the shoulder and b) dropping the elbow. Both are definitely happening, and they're related due to external shoulder rotation during my swing. But I only recently worked out that the root cause is further downstream. I think I'll make a video on my channel this Friday. You may want to watch it, but basically Owen's approach showed me that what I was doing with my torso and lower body was putting myself in the position to cause this. I'm not rotating properly, so forcibly lean forward and shrug my throwing shoulder, and the arm has no choice but to externally rotate. BTW Gyro Nation is a friend of mine and he helped get me started to build an understanding of what I was doing. Small world!
eyes opening moment for me. working lately on my lower body i lost all my power and snap. I forgot about upper body i checked my form on video and i do almost all of those mistakes! Thanks for that video
I’m definitely late to the party but I have the shoulder shrugging problem as well as the elbow orientation problem. A video on either of those would be sweet. Keep on making these vids, much love.
I'll add, yes, make a video about elbow orientation. I can add that "briefcasing" the disc turns the arm more towards being elbow out naturally. Not sure if good, bad, or just a bandaid at this point. Would also love for you to add to the notion of keeping your arm loose/relaxed vs adding muscle to it. Or when you're doing what. Keep the content coming, you're on a ROLL!
This is all sweet music to my ear. Would love to see more about the wrist hinge when everything is on plane. I feel I’m turning mine slightly downward at release resulting in low shots and lack of power/spin.
I have went through 3 well know coaches trying to figure out how to fix the disc flip up issue ( #1 issue). I was always told "just throw slower". Now that I know what the actual issue is, its probably a sinch to fix. this could be what pushes me past that 66 area
I developed a bad habit of leading with my head... no matter how much I try to keep it down or in line with my shoulders during rotation, it always happens. I know I'm arming the disc more than I should be and have a few other issues. But that one is what's literally hurting me. This is years of muscle memory and I can't break it. I can throw over 400' but I started feeling the strain in my neck and it gets bad the more I throw power backhands. Maybe that could be a good video soon and it'll benefit others than just myself I assume. Thanks for the videos, digging them.
Loving the content! When you do the tense wrist video, can you touch on whether and how to maintain the “pour the coffee” position? I ask because I’ve been focused on that for a really long time, because until you released a recent video, I didn’t realize the problem was actually in my elbow position. So I could never fix it with wrist position, even though I’m pouring the hell out the world’s biggest pot of coffee at this point, and my wrist is, as you would expect, tense. That said, I imagine there’s still a good and bad wrist position for nose down, so trying to figure out how to maintain it without tension would be super helpful. Thanks again for the great videos! The 4-part series has been some of the most helpful content I’ve ever watched 👍
Good stuff! The elbow orientation and its relation to shoulder ER makes a lot of sense but watching a few pros I noticed Heimburg and Lizotte have a lot of elbow pointing down, Buhr not so much. Would you agree?
Bunch of people do. It's totally doable if you have the mobility and strength for it, but not all of us do, and as an adult who is learning disc golf, you likely wont.
Last one's huge, I'd never heard anyone mention that before. But if I turn the disc down on the extension and allow it to come up naturally that corrects that too.
Yeah I would love to fit every thing into every video but I only have so much time before people roll out! It will all be coming down the line, including suitcasing to reachback and beyond!
I have tried to find information about elbow pit orientation on the release point and right after it with very little success. Should the elbow pit be oriented backwards always even though it naturally turns almost upwards when arm is straightened all the way? Great videos keep it up!
It's a very good question. I will put it in the notes to go over when I cover elbow drop. I can only really say what I do, as I'm sure there are 1 million factors like limb lengths and mobility in every joint that come into play.
@@BlitzDG I feel like that elbow pit facing backwards would give more raw power because tricep and upper back activates more, but the drawback would be shorter arm/leverage resulting possibly into less arm speed on the tip on the throwing hand. Havent gotten to try this out on field because it still very much winter in Finland..
Any thoughts on starting the pull through prior to being fully braced on the front leg? Stand still throws help to eliminate that, but working up to a full x step drive the timing is very easy to throw off if you're not cognizant of that mistake.
I think number one priority is your timing, so walk up as slow as you need to to get that right, and only add speed once you have it down at your current speed. It's definitely ideal to be fully planted before pulling but it can also just blow your timing up and result in garbage throws so, you have to feather your expectations of perfection. You don't have to be perfect to throw far.
Appreciate the feedback, I've definitely messed up my upper body timing trying to focus on the plant too much (fix one thing, break something else lol) Your content on the upper body has definitely been helpful in my field work sessions the past few weeks! Now trying to work back up to a full x step and make sure those form tweaks stick
I end up with a lot of lag in my shoulder and elbow. It might just be a timing issue where I start to turn my hips and chest leaving my arm behind trying to catch up. What’s your thoughts? Maybe I could even do a short video on my form as the weather gets nicer.
I have a question for you. How to you throw on Anheiser? I lean back, keeping the disc parrallel with my chess, but that seems contradictory to your number 2 tip, arching the lower back. You have too, in order to lean back to throw on Anny.
FINALLY a video that addresses every one of my bad habits. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank You!! Would be great to see a similar themed video like this but on Forehand. Great content.
Great vid. Would love the next vid to be about the lower back extension. Mainly cause I do this.
Oh! I made at least 3 of these! I need to work on that
I’m definitely late to the party but I have the shoulder shrugging problem as well as the elbow orientation problem. A video on either of those would be sweet.
Keep on making these vids, much love.
Another great video! I don't hear people talk about elbow orientation much.
Elbow and wrist for me… I over extend my wrist on the reach back and “blow it out” and I definitely have that elbow down disc edge to the sky problem!

Good points. So many bad habits that are easy to miss.
A deep dive on ATP in the throw would be great! No one talks about pelvis posture in that manner. Great video!
Coming soon!
@ItzB1itzDG can I get some break down help and how to fix my form please? I can send a video via email
@@BlitzDG just realized I said ATP instead of APT, both are involved in the throw, one got one bad 😂 whoops

#3 elbow drop that’s me!!! 4:06
The first one to discover the question!

All great tips. I did all of these at one point or another.
The last thought you had on elbow orientation was a light bulb moment for me. Would love to see an in-depth video expanding on it
Same here. Great video!
Step 5!!! Ding Ding Ding for me! I’ve got to fix this
Just covered everyone I struggled with and couldn’t get clear answers for a year.
Great tips as always!
Great tips, I would say a video on the elbow angle next would be good.

Yep. Ill include the pour the coffee!
Good information...much appreciated
Awesome videos! Next video would be forehand also in person lessons? Haha
Instagram for local coaching!
My big one is shrugging my lead shoulder. I haven't looked yet but have you gone through these one by one yet? Thanks

Notice that he naturally did the supination of the wrist when he first showed the correct orientation just like you are describing

Video dropping today might help!
You didn’t mention this but please make a video on a collapsing shoulder when straying the pull through.
It's mentioned in both part 1 and 2 of my standstill tutorial, but if I get more comments asking for it I will put it on the list for it's own video!

I dont. I throw hard enough that 0-10 is enough to flip the disc where I need to go. I think alot of pros do the same.
How do you know me so well? Dang! I've got so much to work on!!!😅
2 and 5 😉
Uh. Wow. I have all of these but back extension. How have I never heard of these before??
4/5 I've got A LOT of work to do.
More elbow science please
Dang I think I do #1
Could you please up the volume on the next vid? Sorry I just can barely hear it on my phone.
Yeah if anyone else has the same critique I'll adjust it 100%. I tested on a computer!
@@BlitzDG Thank you!
Volume is super low on this one for some reason. :(
That's so weird. I just tested it on computer and phone and it's loud af haha
@@BlitzDG weird, been watching videos back to back without volume issues but just this one is super low for some reason.
Ill try to amp it just a hair for the next one. I don't wanna blow people's ears out either LOL
@@BlitzDG 🤣
Love the video but your mic needs to be upped. I have to crank my volume up so much just to hear you.
Check the one I put out right after this out for me. I increased gain and I think it's good for all now? Would love your feedback!
Loved this format and the analysis of mistakes and fixes 🫶
