Man, I was noodling on the guitar, stumbled across this lick and tried to play to the album...ended up wanting to learn it properly and searched on RUclips. To my delight (But not surprise because you are so prolific...) I found your lesson. Many thanks. I've learned a lot from your stuff....
Awesome. Love the whole second side of Tattoo You, which demands to be played in whole. I think you're right about the jamming origin of this song. There is not really much to it beyond the moody guitar progression with some random lyrics.
Keith Richards didn't play on this track; their bass player Bill Wyman played guitar and also synthesizer and bass. Mick Jagger also played guitar on the track, and the only other performer was Charlie Watts on drums.
I Googled the song Heaven and it say Bill Wyman played lead and also bass a synthesizer, Mick played guitar and Charlie on drums, this was the 1st Stones album I ever purchased, at 19 yo
Thanks James. Curious- from what I can tell, you're into guitars, but less so amps/pedals. Pedals I can understand (I believe you had a modeling amp or something with on-board effects for when you wanted to add flavor...maybe still do, there's clearly phaser on this vid) but you don't seem to geek out on amps like with guitars. Just curious as to your philosophy there since amps can have as much (or more) impact on sound and one's playing as a guitar can. Love the channel!
nice. Bill got credit for guit, synth, and bass. sounds to me like synth bass- Bill never sat that still in his life. lol. along with Mick on guit. no Keef. googed it- I swear to nothing. lol. the official vid is okay if you like a little Anita with your tea. ♫ Ü
Jagger, Watts and Wyman cut the track one day as they were in the studio earlier than Richards and Wood! Jagger played the guitar, Watts drums and I think the bass is on a synth. There’s a synth drone too. Possibly by Wyman. When Keith and Ron walked in the track was finished!
@@bcsemotorworks2462 I think you're correct. I've heard a lot of people saying Bill is on guitar, but I only hear one guitar on the tune. And it's awfully similar to Mick's playing on Fingerprint File. He used to use the same chord shapes in both standard tuning and open G. In standard tuning, the suspensions form minor 7th chords, which is what's happening on this song. I suspect it's Mick on guitar, not Bill.
@@jamesjames9275 Exactly. How bout my Evenings Turning to Gold request? I just love that tune. I remember it eas the B side to Shattered in my home town pizza hangout's juke box back in high school. I'd select it every time i went. I can never seem to find the chords that sound right yet it sounds so simple. You gotta help me haha. Great groove.
I was thinking that too, and then I checked. It was only a month ago that he played Where the Streets Have No Name with it. But, yeah, it's been a mix of others. It makes this one look really nice.
What a gorgeous track. Just stellar.
Great song, love it 39 years now. Thanks.
That shirt and Strat go nicely together.
Love that track.
Beautiful done - great ‘made simple’ lesson - appreciated !
Fantastic song and fun to play!
Man, I love this song. Maybe my all time number two after Robert Plant's Big Log. Great video!

Another great sleeper song from them & fantastic lesson. Thanks again
I love all of your Stones lessons!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Love this track. Hard for my buddies to play along when I do it.
Hard to believe that was 40 years gone, lets dedicate this one to Charlie Watts ! R.I.P
I've been playing this song but hadn't figured out he was using the A and B bar chords. Good ear, man. Thanks for another great Stones video.
Thank you James James . i love your videos .
I always heard the C#m played up in the 9th fret. It might make sense because Jagger likes that phrasing w/ the notes played on the G string.
Just what I needed. Been thinking 'bout this one. EHX delay and phaser, perfect fit.

Some times it's great to be musically moody and random like here and let your emotions drift away.
Great stuff. Love the shirt too.
i like this song , thank you for showing us how to play .
so glad that you love the stones that much:-)
great lesson I like your approach to showing a tune
Great song

Beautiful Strat
Another great lesson, added the mxr phase 90 & sounded perfect. Thanks Again!
Bill Wyman is credited with guitar also but it's buried in the mix
thanks...love this one
Thank you man, great lesson!

Killer fun lesson as most of your work is.. thanks for sharing
Nice job on a cool song!
#biurifuful!
Excellent job!! Phaser and Delay , I guess?
Awesome. Thanks.

Love the channel!
I like playing the guitar. I don't care so much about playing the amp.
What if the amp went to eleven?
Which phaser did he use? The 100 or the 90?
Keith and Ronnie used a 100 back in the day, so I assume Mick did, too.
Good evening, what's the effect and the parameters? Grateful

Unusual in that electric guitars were played by Jagger and Wyman.
Steve Stempel Yeah, I heard that Wyman came up with a good amount of this tune too
Jagger, Watts and Wyman cut the track one day as they were in the studio earlier than Richards and Wood! Jagger played the guitar, Watts drums and I think the bass is on a synth. There’s a synth drone too. Possibly by Wyman. When Keith and Ron walked in the track was finished!
No Mick is only guitarist here. Wyman played bass and synth

nice tune
No lie, I was literally thinking to myself last night that you haven't made a video with the strat in a while! Do you still have the sonic blue one?
Blue one's gone.
I was thinking that too, and then I checked. It was only a month ago that he played Where the Streets Have No Name with it. But, yeah, it's been a mix of others. It makes this one look really nice.
Blue one's gone...to the tune of Tuesday's Gone. :)
Although I always played it in the Em form on the 9th fret.
Same
