But when you live in Switzerland it’s not that Hard to live in because you earn also more money. So you can handle the prices and you are a rich god when you go outside of Switzerland 😄 Switzerland is only for visitiere expensive and not for the people that live there
I have been a fan of your now for about 2 yrs I have wached all of you vlog some of them multiple times I love these vlog and i love that you capture your family in your videos now I can't wait to see when micha start to eat with you keep.up the good work
yeah im swiss and those prices are actually pretty high even for locals, but again then it is zurich (the most expensive city in switzerland) its like...we are aware that it is high but you get used to it so therefore it is in someway normal if this makes sense XD
absolutely...of course you can buy high end products in a supermarket as well, but a good average price for a homecooked meal with selfbought groceries and ingredients is still cheaper than eating out at a restaurant
John Daly a LOT! Spaghetti at home for one person? Between 1-4 Francs. In a restaurant? 14-20 Francs. For Swiss people, restaurant visits are generally the highlight of the week where you meet your friends and enjoy 2-3 hours of relaxation time. On weekdays, a lot of us bring lunch from home/use the office canteen or go to either a Migros or a Coop restaurant (self service restaurants). 😉
Robert Peters naww that's so nice to hear that you like Switzerland because of its beauty, and yes I agree about the price, would love if it would be cheaper XD that's why we don't go out and eat unless you are rich XD
You can find cheaper food if you dont go to the famous places to eat. But its still pretty expensive. On the other side I rather pay a bit more if the food is good and has a good quality. I especially think about the meat. I dont want to have cheap quality meat on my table. And I know the waiter staff has a normal salary, not like in the states.
What a beautiful and clean place indeed. So peaceful . That dish u ate by the look of it I think I will like it too. Thanks for sharing this. Regards to your wife and Mica
Afric Network because he has amazing parents. I think because they are quite relaxed and chilled Micah feels this and is chilled as well. He is such a gorgeous wee boy.
I've dined at Zeughauskeller with my business acquaintance before. It's a moderately priced casual dining restaurant mainly for tourists who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg. Fancier restaurants serving Swiss cuisine in Zurich cost about twice to 3 times. As you can see, it's a very expensive city compared to other cities to dine at restaurants.
I know you don't like sweets much but I was wondering what Switzerland's desserts look like. Maybe you could order a dessert and then share with Ying so it won't be too much dessert for you. Or just show a display case. Thanks for the swans, that was fun! 💙
Last time I was there (around 3 years ago) they had different kinds of cake but nothing Swiss special. At least what I saw. Most you could find in a southern German or Austrian restaurant too like Apfelstrudel or Nuss Torte. But I didn't specifically look for anything really Switzerland-specific.
hi mark how ru? i like u too much....i like your attitude towards food and your family too.....where u r a good food blogger you are a good father too.... your looks full of love towards micah is speechless....may GOD bless u and your family
rösti is basically the food that hash browns evolved from. It's literally salted (preferably pre-boiled) potatoes grated and fried in a pan, nothing more. Zürcher Geschnetzeltes is nothing more than veal, cream, pepper, white wine, champignon mushrooms and bouillon. It's not a hard food to make at home, although at home people often use cheaper meat. Still tasty.
Mark, you are so cute! I am German, but a chilli addict. There is no way you can eat food, any food, without really hot chillies! When we travel, we take fresh chilli with us!!!
it would be wonderful to see the dishes that Ying has chosen as well, that would make more plates to discover for us! love your videos! even if I'm raw vegan :)

The only thing Mark needs to pack is a big black pepper grinder for everywhere he goes,😂😅 if he was allowed I bet he would had lick that sauce pan to the end 😉😋😎
I'm sitting in the restaurant right now had to quickly come back to this video to say I can't trust when he says something is "amazing". Mark it's ok if you say something is just ok or not good. In literally every video you put out you describe whatever you are shoving in your mouth as the best thing in the world. Come on wasted $70 on average schnitzel.
Come to New Jersey. You're not paying anything less than $70 on a meal for two. Part of the price comes from the history and ambience. Mark's the nicest guy ever. Let him be him. And if you research he has said foods were horrible a handful of times.
the schnitzel being average is probably because thats a moderate priced place a tourist/city staple. In-N-Out isnt the best burger in terms of being gourmet but its still good. Price is an entirely different story, you simply can't compare a $70 dollar meal here to a $70 dollar meal there. Cost of living is much higher in this more homogenus and socialized government/society. This has has to do with how the government is run and setup + higher cost/standard of living and higher wages. But everything from cheap to intermediate priced products whether it be food or tools or services is going to be double/triple the price there. You can compare it to manhattan a little but you also cant. You can in a sense where stuff is more expensive there because of higher wages , cost of living, real estate, etc ,etc. But you cant because in switzerland everywhere is generally expensive due to what i said (government) above and not because of areas where people with higher income live, higher real estate costs, etc ,etc. $70 bucks is an average meal. But of course theres a ceiling, in terms of higher end foods are similarly priced around the world (in general, not over the top stuff i.e. salt bae $2500K steaks) and that include Zurich.
Hi Mark, do you have any plans on going back to Thailand or Indonesia in the near future and shoot some old school street food videos? Those are the best!
Zeughauskeller is a very common and popular Restaurant close to most of the big Swiss Banks HQ's. Many business people will have Lunch there among some Tourists. NB: On one of the walls is the original crossbow from Legendary Wilhelm Tell, after all Zeughauskeller originally was an Arsenal!
I can now answer my own questions since we just ate there 2 nights ago. Yes, they do accept credit cards, and the food was not only fantastic but reasonably priced from Zurich standards! The place was packed.
In terms of the cost of your restaurant meal, you could have mentioned that the sales tax is included in the price, and is not an extra charge as is typical in most North American jurisdictions. Also, tipping is not customary there, so that's a savings of 15-20% right there.
i love u mark ! but i want to know if you share your food with your family? or even give them a taste? i am sorry about thisquestion . but i have to know.... ןi am a big fan of your blog !!!
Yay new video!Micah is so adorable bless him💕💕 Am not surprised by how high the cost of your meals were! The living wage/expenses are higher which can be surprising for non europeans! At least you weren't paying in GBP/£!
Yeah Mark, higher cost ... but at least they don’t serve on magazine paper and you have the cleanest food ingredients you can get and beautiful seating .
Positive fact for Swiss people: everywhere we go is cheaper 🤪
Luck you! 👌🏻

But when you live in Switzerland it’s not that Hard to live in because you earn also more money. So you can handle the prices and you are a rich god when you go outside of Switzerland 😄 Switzerland is only for visitiere expensive and not for the people that live there
That price was insane! They must have charged him extra for all that massive pepper he put on his food...
because they earn a lot , so all is fine
I from switzerland its normal to pay so much

Is it cheaper to just buy at supermarkets and cook at home?
We went right through it, Still Luzern was on the high side.
absolutely...of course you can buy high end products in a supermarket as well, but a good average price for a homecooked meal with selfbought groceries and ingredients is still cheaper than eating out at a restaurant
The only time went to a supermarket on our trip, was in Schaffhuasen-we just thought it would be cheaper.

Great video Mark and Ying!
So I've learned two things about Switzerland, first it's beautiful second DAMN it expensive there.

hello Mark hope your having a great morning great video !
That much for basically a plate of hash browns?
God god...anywhere else you can have a massive feast for this amount of money.
Welcome to europe.
Switzerland is just pretty expensive especially Zurich. But wages are extremly high, so if you live there you can afford to pay this for food...
Europe varies vastly in prices. In Germany it would have been less than half the price for that meal.
Yep, eating out in Switzerland is crazy expensive, and really not that good.
i love your smile and vibes, bless you
I remember the “label shock” when I moved to Zürich. You eventually get used to it and then everywhere else is dirt cheap!

Hello Mark when you planning coming to Australia?
The more I see the veal and roesti dish the more I think you can do something similar with hash browns and beef stroganoff.
rösti is basically the food that hash browns evolved from.

Hey mark , if the food is so mighty expensive wats the street food scene there? It is affordable?
Aparna Salve , no street food scene in Zurich....sorry 🤔
Prices here for just about everything imaginable are very expensive, to compensate for the high wages.
He's adding a lot of pepper. Compared to other exotic foods he's had he's probably used to chillies and heat.
