    A tad trickier than the average laptop screen replacement. Nothing too difficult though. Thank you for the video. This video works for Inspiron 15 3511 also.

      Yeah the move to adhesive to hold the display does make things trickier, but not too bad.
      Similar process for the 3511 like you say, and many other Dell models like the 5510, etc.

    Great video, I have the touch screen model. Everything works great but the touch screen… uRR gonna have to notify the company I purchase the screen from but I so thankful for your video as I watched several before starting and yours was the BEST!!! Also I didn’t have double sided table to I used glue dots and they worked fantastic, and those darn strips to remove tape didn’t work like yours so i had to slide razor behind it to separate as I really didn’t want to warp the bars since they have to go on new screen.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  2 года назад +1

      It takes relatively little effort to remove the lid.
      With the adhesive strips you want to pull them out as close to flat as possible to minimise the risk of them breaking underneath the panel - if you're pulling them upwards then they are much more likely to break.
      Ultimately if they break and your screen is already shattered its not the end of the world - you can cover it in tape and pry it up and just accept that it's going to completely destroy the panel before you fit a replacement. I was recording this with a brand new, fully functional, laptop I didn't want to destroy a £80 part on and so did it properly - same applies if you had a faulty eDP cable and functional screen.

    Hi, I've carried out the replacement as the video instructs, however now my laptop won't switch on, the on light switches on momentarily then the fan cycles on before switching off

    • @edwardtye4119
      @edwardtye4119 Год назад

      It probably means that the display isn't properly connected. The laptop 'thinks' the display is displaying, so it carries on with the startup while the screen stays blank. On my model, the caps lock light comes on before the display, then switches off once the display is on.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  Год назад +2

      If the screen is shattered then I'd just cover it in tape and lever it up with a pry tool.
      You'll destroy the panel, but if its already broken it doesn't matter too much. The tape stops any splinters coming out.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  2 года назад +3

      I would very much recommend it - you want to pull the adhesive strips out as flat and level as possible - if you don't remove the top assembly then its very hard to get them out without splitting them.
      Not TOO much of an issue if you already have a broken screen and don't mind shattering it further trying to get it off the adhesive, but I was filming this with a brand new laptop in perfect condition so not worth the risk!

      @SuperGmann10 3 года назад

      I thought the same!

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  2 года назад

      The screen is held in with adhesive, not screws, which you have to pull out the base of the panel which is very difficult if the machine is fully assembled still.
      Its also much easier to remove the bezel with the screen removed from the base of the laptop.
      The time you saved by not removing the screen would probably all be wasted in the time spent trying to get the screen off when the pull strip for the adhesive breaks because you're pulling it from too steep an angle.

It is even worse than my previous Dell inspiron 5599 720P panel., brightness is way dimmer and yellowish colour.... Dell should have gone with Samsung's panel like on previous, this new Boe panel sucks, so frustrating while trying to read on screen even with white and black background, giving me strain on eyes...
