    Great tips! I finally know what those extra beeps are for during the defrosting stage - to turn the meat over! And I agree about stopping the process 10 seconds ahead to prevent cooking the meat. Thanks for the demonstration!

      Plastics mostly a made from oil! Similar to that of car oil, but different grade. Best not to microwave, just use a micro wave safe plate or bowl.

      Most plastics are oil based, even ones made to cover and heat food. So many of these containers are used to cook food in already marinated.

    I got tired of throwing away the remaining ham leftovers (uneaten because you get tired of it). Now I just buy precooked and presliced no-bone ham and when I first open the package I divide it into freezer bags and just defrost them as needed. Not as tasty as typical ham but great for sandwiches. The ham can be frozen for two months and possibly longer.

    NO. Do not microwave food in store packaging.

    • @MReidBrady
      @MReidBrady 8 лет назад +13

      Yes Bee,
      The food that is packaged by stores is normally foam tray with plastic wrap over it with sticker labels and price tags. All of that packaging has been transported and handled. You don't know where its been. Plus it is all made with plastics, once you put that through heat in the microwave you start to release all those chemicals into your food.
      Best you remove the frozen meat & defrost on a microwave safe dish.

    Handy Thaw. It allows you to quickly thaw your frozen food by keeping it submerged under water. The device can help thaw frozen food up to 70% FASTER than traditional methods and 100% SAFER than in a microwave. Now you can safely and quickly thaw foods like fish and seafood in just 15 mins, chicken, pork and beef in 30 mins or less and even big family size meat packs for just under 50 mins.

    My GE microwave from 2005 finally crapped out. At first ruclips.net/user/postUgkxO_Bc204MGjxDl87cOKcdgaRhzSqGmv_g I was unsure because I was looking for something with the exact same features. Found it with this one. Interior space cavity was large, but the outside was smaller than my old one. I love the one-button push for 1-6 minutes, and the 30 second add or 30 second start. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I love how you can adjust the power level during cooking. The reviews said it could not be done, but this marked all the other boxes. and happy to say, it does. I can hit 1 minute start, and change the power level from 10 to 5, 30 seconds in, without interruption. my favorite feature!

    • @jeffstein730
      @jeffstein730 7 лет назад +2

      MiskandarS you can google tons of research on loss of nutrients from microwaving. It varies, but short answer is yes. Because this is a low power and long time method, this will destroy a significant about nutrients, the radiation will break the proteins so you aren't eating healthy protein, and you also increase the risk of contamination with bacteria between the defrost to cooking process. I was googling how long to defrost a duck and saw this video. It's appalling. It's not safe. Too many people assume "oh it's safe" simply because they've never died from using a microwave. Don't even get me started on the amount of petroleum gas transferring from that disgusting cheap plastic container into the meat.

    • @calebroberts08
      @calebroberts08 7 лет назад +1

      MiskandarS lol are you serious? breaks the proteins??? the only way to eat unbroken proteins, if you want to do that for some unonown reason, is to eat the keat raw, you clown. how does cooking kill bacteria? it breaks their proteins. why does cooking turn meat from red to brown? it breaks the proteins! how does your body utilize the value of eaten meat? it BREAKS THE PROTEINS!! wow. just wow.
