Im glad the WL News show is back- it really took a backseat for several months
Kudos to Weightlifting House for continuing to bring superb coverage to the sport that nobody else has yet matched. As a former competitor in the 1960s and 70s, I look forward to your videos. I competed in the 9th Maccabi Games in Israel in 1973 (gold medal, 90k class) and remain in touch with one of my teammates who still competes in the master's division (he just won the recent national championship). I miss competing, but orthopedic issues at age 75 preclude me from doing so. Today, it's cycling and bodybuilding movements.
Karlos is already a thing of legends!
Luo won her category while having her period and feeling weak, according to her Chinese interview.
Kamil kucera was one of my favourites at the Olympics. He said "so what I've just had surgery, I qualified for the Olympics and I'm gonna get on that stage!"
Link to the newsletter please??
Good stat crunch...thx!
You, my friend, are top g.
Average is influenced more by extremes than median. But since we don't have kids or senior citizens competing in the olympics, there aren't really extreme extremes here.
10:45 I assume it has sth to do with better technique on the women's side on average and then, like you said, maybe a smaller jump or made repeat lift on the 2nd for men.
OK people who’s the better lifter? Simon bw 130 kg total 450 kg Sinclair 472.97 or Gor bw 152 kg total 464 kg Sinclair 472.61.
When Sinclairs are equal I tend to go with the heavier weightlifter.
You've heard of IronMind. Now get ready for IronWise
What is sin clare??
Seb failed math for rounding numbers
Will you possibly have guests on the show like with Squat Jerk Journalist or Nino Pizzolato?
This NEEDS to happen, Seb definitely has the sway for it.
That would be cool if it happens. I'd like to hear them being interviewed.
Should be 45% successful CJ for men, but they gave that BS to nino!
In Olympic weightlifting, the "Sinclair" refers to the Sinclair coefficient or formula, which is used to compare the performances of athletes across different weight categories. Since weightlifters of different body weights cannot be directly compared based on their total lifts alone, the Sinclair formula adjusts for body weight to provide a normalized score. This way, it can determine who has the best performance regardless of their weight class.
The Sinclair coefficient applies a mathematical factor based on the athlete’s body weight to adjust their total lifts (the sum of the best snatch and clean & jerk). The result is the "Sinclair Total," which allows comparison between lifters of different weight categories on an equal basis.
Thank you! That is very helpful.
Thanks man
Grt post mate.
Do you know why the women have significantly lower average sinclair than the men? If it also accounts for you sex? Or is just not meant to compare athletes from different sexes? Would be cool to be able to compare men and women. Personally it's baffling to me as a woman to see men around my bw lift frekin 200 kg. I just cannot comprehend it how cool that is
@@dorakrznaric2458 yeah, wondered why there was a big gap myself. You'd think if sex was taken into accout it would even itself up. Unless as you say, its not taken into consideration.
For the record, i find it mind blowing watching women lift as well. Truly remarkable
The heavier you are, the more you lift.
Somewhere, Karlos Nasar is laughing in the corner.
The back to back world records by nasar and lopez was crazy, what a comp 🔥
I thought you were in your 40s, not that you look it, just the way you carry yourself.
02:20 😈 you're good.. but there's Karlos
About 1:53, Karlos has already snatched 185kg on competition but it's not considered official, if we add that number to that official 224kg c&j WR - he beats Rizki's 355kg score by Sinclair. Karlos's going to add just a kg to beat his own WR everytime and stay relevant. God knows how much kg Karlos lifts at training, only he and his team knows. But yeah, his achilles injury tells he's lifting large numbers.
clicked for Lasha, left satisfied
If it's harder than ever to make the Olympics, and athletes have to set mininum weights based on qualifying totals, then how was Kamil Kucera allowed to open with 100/120 in the men's 102+ in Paris?
The classic misunderstanding of median and average. Saying "I'm 31 now, it's not gonna happen" because you're not in the middle, when you can range all the way from 18 to 34 IF the ages are evenly spread, although if there's a lot of 18 year olds, you could be up to 40 or whatever. Just like we saw with the oldest athlete being 39,39 years old, just underlined my random guess. Never stop believing because you read data poorly! Stop believing because you don't believe in your own abilities!
What I think is important about looking at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd snatch and c&j's is being able to zoom out from the blind data and zoom in on every individual competition. The competition itself dictates so much your attempts if you have certain opponents and goals versus your capacity. If something specific happens, you react to it.
I used to go to the same gym as Kamil when he'd first stopped competing. The feeling was he was a bit washed up and honestly I found him insufferable. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined the comeback he was about to make. It's a shame that the form he managed to whip up for the qualification period didn't last.
Seb you called Rizki years ago.
when will you release that jacket it is really nice
Late October
Wow, these stats are incredibly interesting.
seb, my man, that yeti is DESTROYED 🤣🤣🤣🤣How does it even still work?
It looks like the metal filter got curb stomped

😂😂😂 we’ve upgraded everything at WH but I refuse to change mic! That’s a day 1 OG mic 🎙️
Thank you for what you do my g
Banger
So are Sinclairs a relatively new thing? I think this may be my 2nd time hearing of them. I know that it's been almost two years since I started following the sport. So I'm still relatively new.
No they are actually decades old, used as a way to compare across weight category. Every 4 year Olympic period they change slightly based on the best super heavy of the time (I explain it properly in Monday’s video) 🤝
@@WeightliftingHouse oh. Ok. Thank you for your response.
Love the news.
Can we get a video on why China has had restrictions put on how many athletes they can send, how the decision was informed, and why it matters?
Hey! Good question. China didn’t have a restriction, all countries had a restriction of three men and three women. It feels like China had a restriction because they had women in the top 10 in all 5 categories and men in 4. But the same was true for other teams, for example the USA women had weightlifters in all 5 categories too but could only send 3.
As to why the restriction on the sport it has more to do with Olympic politics, which sports are in favour with the IOC etc.
@@WeightliftingHouse Based. Thank you. Lastly, will there be more weightlifting pants available soon?
@@Jake-kr8sc yes, all coming at the end of October
