@@williamnoble9434 Yes that is true unless you use UNcompressed RAF. PMP and Photomater rely on the Apple RAW engine and until Apple updates support they will not handle COMPRESSED RAF.
@@Lysander-Spooner I’ve tried uncompressed from the X-T5 and it doesn’t work. However it does work on raw files I have from my old X-T3. Guess I’ll have to wait for a future update. 😟
I’m thinking hard about that. I’m curious about the photo organization and culling capabilities of Photomator. Do you have any information about those?
I just installed Photomator 3.3 and I’m loving what I’m seeing. As a Mac using photographer, I’m loving how they have utilized the Apple eco-system to create the same look and feel as the MacOS, iPadOS, and IPhoneOS. User have the same features, menus, and terminology regardless of the device! Hooray, Photomator team!!!! A few more features and I’ll be canceling my subscription to that other software…you know the one. Joesph….great job…..keep the tutorial coming for Photomator. I’ll have to look at Pixelmator as well…you got a new subscriber!
I do know what you mean. ;) Thanks for the kind words! I just launched the first episode of the Photomator masterclass, so make sure to check that out if you haven't already.
Thanks for the video Joseph. Just downloaded a copy. The only issue I have so far is the importing of folders from say another drive and not via Apple Photos. Doesn’t like importing sub folders etc at present. I’m sure the team will get there. Love some of the features coming in the roadmap. 👍🏻
Joseph, I like your mood of delivery and content. Thank you. I quit working with my libraries after Aperture died. Now it has been 40 years of Mac's and the surprises I still get when a new team creates an app is so much fun. Most important thing in my life, let's have fun. Mac and photo's are fun again. Even a year old video is useful.
As a professional landscape/architectural photographer running medium format systems I've ditched both Lightroom and Capture One for Photomator on its own. It does 90%+ of what I require of an editor, and I really enjoy the experience. The rest is provided by Pixelmator. These combined with Photos is a pretty great workflow for me.
I'm switching to Photomator as well. I understand that panorama stitching is not (yet?) implemented. May I ask how you stitch your (raw) panoramas, if you do?
It's really nice, but no defringe or even any way of manually doing it that I can see. I can live without camera profiles but lens corrections are a must these days. Hopefully they will implement something soon.
I have to say im going to give this a try. I had luminar neo - but the app is just a shell to an "app store" to buy extra plugins to do anything. I will give the free trial a go and see how i get on... The object removal looks like it needs a little more care though, not as good as photoshop, but doing it bit by bit usually gives better results as the blocks it is copying will be smaller.
I’m not sure if everyone is as confused as I am regarding the relationship between Pixelmator on the iPad or photomator on the iPad. Why would you get one over the other and what’s the difference? Also, if you go back-and-forth between the iPad and the Mac does it matter which software you get or are allall three essential? It looks like there are three apps for the ipad and two for the mac.
Hi. Thanks for your videos. One question. I have a huge library of raw files from my cameras on an external hard drive. They’re mostly .dng but also gave some Leica and Olympus raw files. Can I edit them with photomator without importing them to Apple photos library? I want to keep them apart for several reasons. Thanks.
Hello Joseph really like you experience sharing for Pixelmator Pro for the Mac… my question for you can you recommend a tutorial on Photomator specifically for the iPad? Similar to the excellent way you described how to use the Pixelmator pro on the Mac. I do a lot of photography on set and use my iPad exclusively. Thanks!
Hi . . . Is Photmator and Pixelmator the same now? What is the difference.? I am getting ready to purchase Photomator, but if Picelmator is the same I can save $50, by just getting Pixelmator. I see I can use Photmator on both Mac and iPad/iPhone, but Pixelmator I can only use on Mac. If they are different, though, which one would you suggest I get? Can Photomator be used with videos? I think that be be the difference of the two. Thank you so much for your informative channel!!
Great! Just bought Lifetime licence and will make it work for me regardless majority of my library still sits with Lightroom. (now if only we can simply move all Lightroom libraries to Photomator). Few question for possibly next video - If I make changes and adjustments on my photo, how do you sync them all with other photos. You do have workflow but its very limited. Can you sync all of your changes you make in adjustments to photos not using workflow? Something like SYNC in Lightroom. Would be great to have custom Toolbar for most often tools. Is there a simple way to make a duplicate so you do not edit your RAW photo? Can you add plugins like Nik collection? Batch export - formats or can you batch export using Pixelmator? Vignete very limited also curious about lens correction and camera profiles. Possible? Also chances working outside Photos / external HD etc? ...we need proper and detailed tiutorial or live stream. Looking forward. Subbed,
Great video showing just what this program can do. But....I'm totally new to it and need a step-by-step intro tutorial. Can't find one. Can you help direct me to one?
I'll make a masterclass for Photometer soon, but in the meantime you can follow along with my Pixelmator Pro masterclass. It uses the same tools, just laid out slightly differently in the UI.
Thanks for this! I may just move to photomator. I use Pixelmator and photos (mainly for storage) but it’s a lot of exporting and clicks. Does photomator have a photo stacking function?
Wow, this looks like Aperture replacement that people have been waiting for. Looking at the interface, is it safe to say that it's a DAM as well? I hope they'll introduce features to view or edit spherical images and to stitch panos.
Just found your videos on pixelmator and photomator - i have owned these for a long time on the iPad - but haven't "cracked the code" even if they look and feel very Cool-only-for-mac like. I would love to follow you and see if these incredible pieces of software can replace/support my ON1 photo workflow - or replace them all together Thanx
I'm a huge fan of Photomator! Do you offer luts for it? I have not been able to find luts or presets anywhere? I do enjoy editing and I make my own but I would like to play with some presets as well. Cheers mate!
@wendyverboom6406 it depends on your needs. I use Pixelmator more, but it’s because I’m doing a lot more photo manipulation, RUclips thumbnails, and texturing for 3D models.
Photomator is excellent, I’ve used it on iPad for years and I just recently got a MacBook around the same time this came to Mac. Being able to do edits on any device I own and have it quickly sync across all of them is a game changer. So excited for the video editing features. One thing I am curious about video editing is how they will handle linked files like they do with photos. If it’s handled the same way that could take up an insane amount of storage very quickly considering that the current linked files are often double the size of the original raw photo
Downsides in comparison to Lightroom: Bad dynamic range (the sliders are not as powerful as in Lightroom e.g. for white balance, shadows etc.), No AI recognition for brushes, no Android support, bad Noise AI
What's holding you back from dropping Lightroom today?
Sadly it doesn’t work with Fujifilm X-T5 raw files.

Just for your knowledge, I would like to say that there is healing brush feature in Apple's photos editing app. It is named as "retouch"
True, but it’s not nearly as intelligent as the healing brush in PP and it looks like Photomator will be even better!
Thanks!

Think of Pixelmator as a standalone image editing app. Photomator is like Pixelmator and the Photos app were merged into one.

I thought photomator was free it said it was on the app store
Can NIK collection 7 function as a plug-in?
What’s the difference between pixelmator and photomator?
Pixelmator is a raw image editor, Photomator is a batch photo editor. Think photoshop vs Lightroom.

i would absolutely like you to cover this amazing app, also i would also like them to take on adobe illustrator & adobe animate
That’s a good deal 👍🏻
Great app developer. I kinda prefer the iPad because of pencil support, like a Wacom tablet.
The best thing about Photomator is you don't have to choose between the two. You can seamlessly switch between iPad and Mac depending on your needs!
I like to know how I can fill in iptc information like copyright info
Are these free on Ventura or do you have to pay for some plug-in extension?
This is epic. Workflows was def hard before
Will this process Hasselblad raw files?
Do the presets from the iPhone sync to the Mac version?

so is this like photoshop and light room in one ?
Yeah I’d say it’s sort of in between photoshop and Lightroom.
im new, whats the difference between pixelmator pro and photomator?
Photomator is more like Lightroom. It has photo management as well as photo editing.
If I buy the lifetime licence, will I get lifetime updates? Or does that only work with subscriptions?
Lifetime updates! It's an amazing deal.

So pixelmator pro is included in this version ?
Not exactly. There’s still differences between the two apps.

Watermark features are on the Photomator roadmap, but haven't been released yet.

No
