I’m a native San Antonian and I’ve been making carne guisada for years, but your recipe is the best I’ve ever made! Eating it tomorrow after I make my rice and homemade tortillas to go with it! Thanks for the recipe!
Darling you saved my life I was born and raised outside of Austin I moved to Tennessee about 20 years ago and I've been trying to explain how good this is to these people ever since
I bet your kitchen smells heavenly! As a native Texan now living in Germany, "Tex-Mex" food is on my list of things that are dearly missed! I will be making this for my family get together on Christmas and am certain they will love it!
I never comment on anything but this recipe is so worth it! Im married to a middle easter man that is not a huge fan of mexican food. Hes super picky. And not to mention im not that good at cooking. I made this recipe for him a couple of weeks ago and he said he really liked it (i didnt believe him) but today he requested it again! So okok i believe him now lol. Im glad i finally found a mexican dish that he really enjoys! As far as my personal opinion, I love the flavor and how tender it comes out. Thank you so much for sharing!
Let’s just start saying Tejano. Tex Mex just makes it seem like our cuisine is Americanized Mexican food when that’s not the case. We Tejanos have a culture too that people forget about. The New Mexicans who are Hispanos like us take pride in their cuisine and nobody makes it seem like New Mexican Hispano cuisine is Americanized Mexican food
I live in north Louisiana and there is a Mexican restaurant on almost every corner which I am so thankful for! But, only one that I know of so far that has carne guisada on the menu. I found it kinda by mistake. I had no idea what I was ordering but wanted something different from anything else I had ever ordered before. The waitress recommended it and I haven’t ordered anything else since. The cook puts a green sauce which I think is salsa verde on his carne guisada. It’s very delicious! I would like to make my own just to see what it taste like. This recipe looks easy to me. I have been cooking since I was 13 and I’m 61 now! So I do have experience. Just not with Mexican food. I don’t have an ounce of Mexican in me but I crave the food all the time! My husband swears I’m Mexican bc if my craving for the food. Thank you so much for this recipe! I’ve been wondering how to make it! Yay now I know
I spent part of my childhood in San Antonio, this stuff is great...but hard to find outside of that area. Mrs. Yesenia makes this look so easy to make...I am going to try this tonight. I really like her laid back personality and delivery....glad I ran into this channel :o)
Holy moly! I’ve made a few different carne guisada recipes and this is HANDS DOWN the easiest and the best!! This was so simple and was absolutely better than take-out! 😍
Before your video I wondered why my guisado was alway watery and not like I would taste it at restaurants but NOW you’ve taught me how to accomplish this delicious authentic, guisado that by adding the bell peppers, flour and those 3 hours of cooking it is so gooood!! A million thanks and God bless you! ❤️
I moved from the Rio Grande Valley to Georgia and I've been missing carne guisada so much. Time to make a little trip to the grocery store and make this. Thanks for posting this! Always loved eating it, now let's try cooking it.
Just finished making it according to your recipe and directions. It’s fire 🔥 10/10 would recommend. I’ve tried making it before with an instant pot recipe. It didn’t turn out how I wanted it to. I followed your instructions and did it on the stove and it’s so good restaurant quality. Thank you! It’s exactly what we need for this fall weather. 💙
I’m definitely gonna try this recipe as I am a San Antonio native ( don’t live there anymore unfortunately 😢)so this video brought back a lot of beautiful memories for me ❤
I learned about Carne Guisada when I was in the Air Force at Lackland AFB San Antonio. I LOVED it. Used to get a couple of them almost every morning for breakfast on a flour tortilla from Rosa's Cantina. Problem is, that since then, I've been searching for a restaurant that serves them here in Arkansas. I just get looks like I've got three heads when I ask if they have them on the menu.
@justthefactsmaam they were really YUMMY! You're welcome. My wife thought that was really awesome that we used to eat at the same restaurant and order the same thing.
After watching this and a couple other carne guisada recipe videos, I guess I'm kind of surprised at how many commenters are just discovering this dish. I've lived my whole life in central and south Texas, and I guess I've always taken it for granted!
I lived on Pete AFB in Colorado, huge Hispanic community there. I moved from San Antonio and I got there, same response. Couldn't find it anywhere and no one ever heard of it. So I started making myself and that was in 2008. They only know carne asada.
I think it just isn't "Mexican" enough for Americans. When they go to a Mexican restaurant, they want Tex Mex (That's what most Americans think of as Mexican) really and they want things they recognize like the more popular dishes. This is a great dish that I often make but I think for most Americans, it just isn't Mexican. We're learning though!!! LOL
I'm from San Antonio too!!! And I have yet to taste Carne Guisada from another city that tastes similar, or better than San Antonio's Carne Guisada. We arguably have the BEST Mexican food in the USA!!!
Thanks! I loved this recipe. Tastes delicious, here in San Antonio we can buy Carne guisada in a lot of places, but I find it is best when it is homemade. Have you ever thought of using diced Roma tomatoes instead of the tomato sauce? I am trying it today. Hopefully it comes out good.
I had this for the first time in Brownsville tx. This stuff was like gold, it was sooo amazing. Then I sampled it at different spot and what was so cool each spot had it own little spin, You still has No doubt you were eating Carne Guisada. Such a warm beautiful food
Loved watching you. I love the fact that you don't have music in the background & you are so soft spoken. I have my carne guisada on simmer, did taste it & I added more salt and pepper. The best thing is that it tastes just like my mom's. TY so very much!
I've lived in Central Texas my whole life, and have always loved carne guisada. It's my go to meal when going out with family, I've moved to the Dallas area recently and have felt homesick trying to find carne guisada. I decided to make it myself since I couldn't find any, and it tastes like home. Thank you for sharing your recipe ❤️❤️❤️.
Yes!!! I lived in corpus christi for 25 years and had multiple places with great carne quisada. I live in Richmond tx. In a predominantly white subdivision and no one around my places makes it. So here I am 😅
Man i haven't ate anything today yet and what you are making looks so delicious 😋 when my ship comes in i will be making your recipes 😊 God bless you and America and Israel 😎
Wow....My favorite thing to eat as a kid and teenager growing up in South Texas. I just watched your video with my wife and she will attempt to make it. Thank you for the recipe!
I’ve been looking for a few years for a recipe that is restaurant quality. Every time I try, it’s never quite the right flavor. I found your pin and attempted this recipe last night and it. was. 🔥🔥🔥. My wife and I raved about it and went back for more. I had it for lunch as well. Thank you for sharing. Will remake again and again!
Hello , all I got to say is that looks Super Good & Super Yummy. I'm originally from San Anto210, TX & both my mom & grandmother used to make Carne Guisada all the time for us & the family. Well now that I live in Oregon ...there is NO such thing as Carne Guisada here, they look at me like I'm from another planet or something everytime I try asking looking around for Carne Guisada . So I just gave up & decided to start watching RUclips videos to start making it on my own. Definitly going to try this recipe & Thanks .
New cooler here and the little things you say that may sound like common sense to some are pure gold for others. Appreciate you! Cheeers from San Antonio, Texas ayyyeee
Thanks for making a wonderful dish so easy. I grew up in Northern Ohio with none of these dishes. I Moved to Texas in 1984. My son was 7 ears old. We did not eat anything spicey hot. By the time he was a teenager he was putting cayenne pepper on his popcorn. We were introduced to these culinary delights by neighbors in our first apartment here. I could not believe what I was missing. We did enjoy biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and other country fair as my Mom was straight off the farm in Indiana. Thanks for this, I look forward to making it.
Just made this I just didn’t have bell peppers so I made it without it and I only had beef bouillon I currently have it cooking with the lid on imma come back and check it on an hour. 1st time making this I attempted to follow someone else’s recipe and it didn’t taste anything like I know carne guisada taste like this one so far does. While it cooks on medium ( edit I actually ended up adding 1/2 cup of water as the water was drying out fast I also lowered the heat to low) imma make my flour tortillas from scratch 😊 I have my red Mexican rice going too can’t forget the jalapeño on top of the rice as well ♥️ I’ll come back to update I’m super excited for this dish thank you for sharing ❤
I’m a native San Antonian and I’ve been making carne guisada for years, but your recipe is the best I’ve ever made! Eating it tomorrow after I make my rice and homemade tortillas to go with it! Thanks for the recipe!

I grew up on dishes like this, good old south Texas Tex Mex. ❤

You are so nice and polite, the way you speak is absolutely elegant! That's why everyone is so receptive of your information.
Before your video I wondered why my guisado was alway watery and not like I would taste it at restaurants but NOW you’ve taught me how to accomplish this delicious authentic, guisado that by adding the bell peppers, flour and those 3 hours of cooking it is so gooood!! I've tried several other carne guisada recipes from RUclips and yours is exactly like my grandmother's. Exactly!!. Thank you so much. 👍
Looks great
I moved from the Rio Grande Valley to Georgia and I've been missing carne guisada so much. Time to make a little trip to the grocery store and make this.

@justthefactsmaam I used to live right across from Kelly AFB at The Rustleaf Apartments from 1981 to 1983.
@justthefactsmaam they were really YUMMY! You're welcome. My wife thought that was really awesome that we used to eat at the same restaurant and order the same thing.
@justthefactsmaam OH NO! I was admin stationed with the security police school squadron.
@justthefactsmaam that's the way I found out about Rosa's. They sent me on a breakfast run too.
@justthefactsmaam I agree! It was awesome visiting with you. Of course, I'm in Arkansas, where are you?
Grew up in SA, spent 35 years living along the border as a science teacher. 75 years old and this recipe is just the best. Simple, but muy sabroso.

You are not wrong. I moved to CA from San Antonio 15 years ago and I STILL miss it! I do my best to make it myself but it's not the same.... /sigh
👋 not mexican...it's Tex-mex give tejanos it's due🎉🎉
Mittmans on the east side!!!
I think it may be the limestone San Antonio water is filtered through.
The other recipes i see on RUclips don’t quite have the right look. Yours looks perfect. I will make this
Looking forward to trying your recipe for Carne Guisada. It looks like the version I loved when I was living in south TX
❤ thank you for your recipe. This is so for the best video that I’ve seen for. The carne guisada
How was it with the Roma tomatoes?
