In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". The game continues as normal, however, MLB will review the game and make a ruling. Virtually no protest has ever resulted in an overturn, despite how bad the call was.

This is so right. The 1st strike was in the left-handed batter's box. The Ump called it a strike only after Lawrie headed to 1st base in advance of the call itself. It was all about the Ump having and enunciating control over the situation. Then the 2nd pitch was going to be a strike no matter what. The ump should've been immediately retired. Lawrie did better than I would have in the circumstance.

    What Weaver should've done.
    Get ready to pitch.
Once the batter puts his hand down, proceed to throw the ball to the 1st baseman.
Get the ball back, say "You ready to play now??" Then the moment the batter puts his hand up again, throw to 1st again.
Keep repeating until the batter knows how much of a jackass he's being. You're in the box, NO TIMEOUTS GIVEN.
