      In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". The game continues as normal, however, MLB will review the game and make a ruling. Virtually no protest has ever resulted in an overturn, despite how bad the call was.

      The tar is only allowed to go up so far from the bottom of the bat. They use the width of the plate to measure from the bottom of the bat. If the tar is higher on the bat than the width of the plate, the bat is not approved for play.

      Last season umps miss called over 32,000 pitches. How many of those bad calls cost teams games?
      Time to make the Fast Trac call balls and strikes. Umps only get to call plays at the bases with replay because they miss so many.

      @Hugh311 5 лет назад +15

      Michael Wayne part of the game is the human error aspect. That’s the way it is and they say it always should be. This isn’t like the nfl where they only play 16 games. They play 162 games, one bad call won’t effect an entire season.

    • @boominator64
      @boominator64 5 лет назад +27

      Artie Burns well, 34,294 human errors behind the plate is a hell of a lot of mistakes. A umpires “human error” shouldn’t affect the outcome of a game. I’ve seen it happen too many times. The Fast Trac system is very effective. Perhaps it can be used a few times in a game as an instant replay on obvious blown calls. Do a test run. But the fragile egos of these umps will cry like a stuck pig!

    Gotta love the variety in announcers. Clemens throwing a sharp bat fragment at Piazza’s feet is really dangerous but Weaver had “no choice” but to throw inside on Seager.

    • @ElSantoLuchador
      @ElSantoLuchador 9 месяцев назад +1

      Having no choice but to throw inside is among the unwritten rules of baseball. I'm sure all the announcers would agree. They would also agree that Clemens deserved a fine for throwing the broken bat. Is that rational? Absolutely not. It's tradition.
