Intro song: Out of My League - Fitz and the Tantrums
Nolan Ryan ended up with over 5k. That's amazing
Ryan Fox the ironic thing it was against his old team the Mets
When it comes to pitchers he is the GOAT. Man set many, many records and could whoop someone's behind if they stormed the mound.
+James P. funny thing is that he's also given up the most walks
Oscar Padilla pitching 27 seasons will do that
@Kris Radke not unless they get 2 per inning, no
Randy Johnson might be the best pitcher of all time. He did it all.
Ghostdialoog He's up there. That's for sure
Ghostdialoog Look at what Bob Gibson did. Pitched 13 shutouts on one season. No one close in modern baseball.
Chris Weidner no one in modern baseball pitched as much as they did back in the day
Ghostdialoog no
@@yodacrd7411 they also changed the height of the mound because of Gibson's dominance. Because of injuries and ungodly high contracts, owners don't want these guys getting hurt, thus they don't pitch complete games, and throw 150 pitches like in times past.
I mean I have over 4K offensive strikeouts
that's almost twice as much as Reggie Jackson
What makes this feat so crazy rare today is that these guys went 9 innings repeatedly, so they had far more opportunities for strikeouts than the average pitcher will today. If Verlander goes into his 40's, and keeps with the same kind of caliber pitching, he's got a legitimate chance at reaching 4,000 in his career, but 5,000 is just never going to happen with today's game.
You can not connect roids to talent, Clemens is still capable with or without so it goes for bonds a natural.it just became a tabu'.
Case in point look at his years in Boston. He was great before he juiced
I like how Nolan Ryan was just like "Yeah, another K. Big deal."
TheJudoJoker Lol he's like "I got another few thousand in me this is nothing"
4K means jack when you are gonna go past 5k
a business first mindset it why Nolan had enough longevity to play 27 seasons
Fun fact-Roger Clemens' 4000th strikeout, Edgar Renteria, was the last batter in two world series, 1997 and 2004. In 1997 he hit a walk off single to win it for the Marlins, in 2004, he grounded out to give the Red Sox their first championship in 86 years.
Renteria was by no means a hall of famer, but damn he got around well enough to be a part of one historic moment after another, he's also the one that hit a tie breaking homer off of Cliff Lee in the 2010 World Series to put an end to Giants 56 year drought and began their great reign of terror, IMO he deserves a statue outside of The Fish Tank, seeing as he provided the Marlins greatest triumph
3 out of the 4 pitchers in this video played for Houston at some point in their careers.
Roidger Clemens
stros have had some good pitchers
Hats off to everyone except that cheater. You all know who that is
Can you do a video for teams clinching the playoffs
I have a walk off clincher video
I was at that Clemens game. Two interesting things about that game: 1.) It was also his 300th win. 2.) After he got #4,000 the very next batter was Tino Martinez, his first trip back to NYC after leaving the Yankees. He stepped back to let Clemens get his applause. Then, when Tino was announced, Clemens stepped off the mound so Tino could get applause...then he became strikeout # 4,001. One of my favorite moments seen live.
Nolan Ryan is the best!!
72th comment and 390th like
LOL at the Roger haters. Never tested positive in an official MLB test. Ya'll act like he wasn't throwing gas and striking batters out way before suspicion grew. Show me the smoking gun and irrefutable proof and I'll be happy to jump on the steroid bandwagon. There's a reason why hearsay and conjecture evidence is not admissible in court.
Randy Johnson will be the last one ever, unless some pitcher grows some balls.
Keep up the great videos!
Next on the list. Clayton Kershaw
This record WILL NEVER BE BROKEN!
jesus no one will beat Nolan's record
Justin verlander has 2000
3,013
3,013 on pause
recently passed by former team mate Max Scherzer
This is such a great compilation
randy johnson
Kershaw is inevitably going to be in this list
controlhogger8 I don't think so
controlhogger8 as a Dodger fan I hope he does reach it in blue ;)
It's possible. I definitely think 3000 strikeouts is going to happen. 4000 though is just ssooooo difficult to achieve. Especially now with pitch count limits and five man rotations.
TheJudoJoker this year 2000 by 2020 he'll be 33 3000 so yah I see him doing it
I'm a Nationals fan but I have a ton of respect for Kershaw. I hope both he gets 4000 and I hope Max gets 3000.
My dad met Nolan Ryan! He said his hands are huge
Ryder Brill I've seen him at minute maid he looks like he can kick my ass and I'm 25
i am a yankees fan and giants are my second but i dont knwo the second guy
steve carlton sorry
ItsCharged Steve Carlton he was mostly a Phillie though
ItsCharged BAND WAGON
Schanty Khan uhhh dude having a second team doesn't automatically make you a bandwagon I'm a hardcore Dodgers fan but the Sox are muy second team because of they're 2004 run (I was 10 years old and that was one of the greatest things I ever saw) also David Ortiz is my all time favorite player never to have been a Dodger and I know all about they're history it's only bandwagon if you don't know nothing about the game dude maybe the Giants got his respect
Schanty Khan I live in New York and my second favorite tema is Giants because of my favorite player Madison Bumgardner and i wear his jersey number 40 in baseball
Notice how it’s a very short video
Where's Roger Clemens he had over 4,000
Maxx McGloin ........
Maxx McGloin serious? He's in the video dude lol. What's wrong with you
He’s not in it bc he cheated ya goofs he’s funny this guy
Felix hernandez and Kershaw are probably next.
Samuel Sanchez Nooo
Samuel Sanchez the probably are
Andy then who do you think is
Samuel Sanchez if they stay healthy and consistent
steve b kersh is at 3000
I wonder if we will ever have another. We should with the way batters are striking out but someone needs to stay healthy and consistent.
We definitely will eventually but it'll be awhile. Kershaw is like 1500 away and he's 32, so not inconceivable. Verlander has about 3000 but he's 37 so not happening. Just puts Nolan Ryan's longevity into perspective
