Another easy substitute for the Bm barr is to play a D chord and put your pinky on the 4th fret of the G string. Still play the open D string and you have Bm/D.
I "discovered" this form for myself about 12 years ago, and although it's technically a Bm7th chord, it works well with most songs, especially on a 12-string. You can also put your index finger on the 2nd fret of the A-string and move your middle finger over to the 2nd fret of the low E-string, to play all six strings... I also often substitute a B7 chord for the B barre chord on my 12-string...
your my fave tutor so clear and concise.. My only complaint is that your voice is so calming i keep falling asleep listening to you.. lol.. You are just brilliant though so thank you.. NOODLES ..
This is great but my problem is my pinky. It doesn’t cooperate. It’s almost like my brain doesn’t recognize my pinky. Someone also told me Bm can be played by making an Am and sliding up to the 3rd fret? Any truth to that? I’m just trying to play a song by Bob Seger called Against the wind and the Bm has stalled me on these songs. Also a lot of country songs I like have the Bm and I can get it to ring out great using a barre but I just have to stop and form my fingers and then I haven’t huge pause. A song by Kenny Rodgers I like has a lot of Bm too, “slow dance more”. Ugh so frustrating to get to the next level after open chords. Thanks man! -Ryan
Barre chords are frustrating at the start. I play Barre chords the usual way, but also mainly by using my thumb to play the root note, maybe you could try that, it's easier.
What songs have you discovered that use Bm?
The Weight, with capo on 2nd fret. (Simple version)
Lots of them. Anything in A that wants to use the 2 chord.
uh....anything in D, which happens to be my most comfortable singing key...life sucks sometimes, lol
Puff the magic dragon
Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure. Such an awesome song, and a great song to practice barre chords.

So much helpful comment and no comment and no reply lemme fix that
thanks for this tip. I've tried to avoid the Bm chord because it's been a pain in the you know what. This helps a lot.
I'm from Sir Lanka, This is really easy thank you.

Thanks! Really helpful 🙂
This is a moveable minor 7 shape, if you do not play both E strings.
Cheers 👍
They are all about the chords! I have been trying to play for years, but I can't strum right no matter how much I try!

How about how to play G Bm C G C D
I discovered that Tennessee whiskey uses b minor
Michael learns.. Someday
Nice, but it's easier to land a barre chord than that. Or you can just do a 4 string chord and not use a barre at all.
