i wonder if reload also has the older texture and lighting model that could run on 1GB cards like when it first came out? fortnite in theory supports integrated graphics, but it's always using 1.5GB-2GB of memory on igpus with a 2GB recommended for the current version.

@@chazbotic At 720p vram usage stayed in the low 900MB. 1080p got that to around 980MB. I will give it a test using a 2 GB card, we'll see.

@chazbotic even in performance mode, Fortnite Reload will go for about 1050MB of VRAM - just a bit above 1GB. And I was wondering why the 1℅ lows were crap.

@@oldertechtoday ah well, i guess it's optimistic to think that 1GB cards can still work well with such limited VRAM, that being said there are good 2GB, 3GB and 4GB cards on the used market that are readily available. it's so close to the edge, i wonder if config file editing can help like with GTA V... such a change might improve 1% lows for cards on the edge as well.

@@chazbotic Well, nothing lasts forever, and gaming is more than Fortnite. Having said that, the HD7770 performs acceptable to me at 1600x900 and lower, and in Reload all of them perform just fine - again, at 1600x900 and lower.
I am not sure though for how long 1GB cards will still be an option for potato pc gaming: Fortnite switching from UE4 to UE5 had a performance penalty; CS2 is more demanding than CS:GO was, first Warzone was somewhat playable at 720p and the list goes on.
This is normal - technology moves on, and older components slowly become relegated to older games.
