Absolutely! I have videos on both cards, you might want to check them out. The 7770 runs 3 times the average FPS than the 6670 in Fortnite Reload, for example.

@@gaming.teacher Thanks. Yes, the 1050ti will still do good in some of the online titles. Not something to run Marvel Rivals, but it will do fine in The Finals.

@@Maxilexo On the used market the 1650 is actually fairly priced, compared with the 1050ti. Finding a defective one that I can fix ... that's a bit more difficult.

@@AnouarSmaali Thanks, and thanks for the comment. As for the RX460 on the i5 2400, what exactly are you interested in? I would expect a few games to perform CPU bottlenecked at the low settings that I use. That kind of CPU relevant data is already on the channel.

@@amirhosseinedrisiashtiyani9869 in most DX11 games, the R7 370. Some Vulkan and DX12 games will have the 260x run better, but these cases are rare. I tested both GPUs (the R7 265 is identical to the 370), those videos might help. What games do you have in mind?

@@amirhosseinedrisiashtiyani9869 I see; I don't use Premiere, so take the following with a medium sized grain of salt. I think both would do the same for video editing - 2 GB of GRRD5. So you can use any other criteria to make the choice. As mentioned previously, I remember that there were just a few games where the 260X managed to outperform the R7 370. Typically, the 370 will be faster.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, games tend to ask for more and more VRAM. This then makes finding titles that can still run on older hardware more and more challenging.

The RX 470 and 570 definitely perform better; they were also made on a smaller lithography process. 40 USD will likely bring you a working - albeit mined - GPU. 30 USD is (at least in my part of the world) getting dangerously close to a scam. Anyway, in terms of GPUs on the 28 nm node, Maxwell ruled; AMD was only able to compete in value.

@@oldertechtoday In CS2 low settings, yes. That CPU is about 80-120FPS, not a single more. Sorry to tell you.

I think latest available for it, Adrenalin 22.6.1. Now! That driver version is outdated, and CS2 will complain. However, it is the latest available for this card, and CS2 will run despite complaining about it.

@@chazbotic lol, did I mention that some of my favourite cards have just 1GB? I did not have the pleasure of having to work with Fermi cards, so I can't comment on the GTX 580. 3GB does limit what this card can play, and while there are still some popular games that can do with that, they become fewer and fewer as time passes.

@@oldertechtoday there was some weird GPU memory limits in some cards like 896MB or 1.5GB. it made sense with the memory architecture for those cards, but they were kind of oddball sizes. even today with 5GB and 11GB especially models you see sometimes.

@@victorspencer4885 I know, I tried them. There is a risk associated with third party drivers, and that's why I don't recommended. Besides, if a third party can get it fixed, why doesn't AMD do it?

I also wander that :). There are a few instances where the Xeon does hold back GPUs, I try to mention them in each video.

@@asrr62 I guess when it comes to these types of cards, knowing what to expect from them is important. Funny enough though, I still see the 1030 at the 40 USD price mark. There's got to be a drmand for them.

@@charlemagne1192 I got my 730 for video decoding on an old PC; if you also plan for a bit of gaming, then anything around the 20 USD mark should do good. Look for an HD 7790, or an R7 260X at minimum, from AMD, or a GTX 950 or better from NVidia.

@JetStreamCh4450 if you have windows running (which it seems you do) then the next step is the drivers. Either the 21.5.1 or the one that Windows update provides should work fine, if the card does not have any hardware issues.

Well, it was never intended to be a gaming GPU; but if that's all that you have, then at least you know it's not all doom and gloom, you can still have a bit of fun online with it.

Oh, the DDR4 variant ... I had the 'pleasure' of testing an ASUS Pboenix variant that had DDR4.

@@HerrAlien it might be worth testing against some other older/cheap GPUs from an encoding perspective, since that's an actual use case for NVENC or VCE, for x264, OBS, Twitch, et c. maybe as a cheap little card to stuff in a cheap optiplex or z230 and you use it as a streamer PC for passthrough? might be interesting comparison.

Yeah, that's the intended purpose, but it can still fail at that if one does not pay attention! I tried using it for media decoding in a PC, and performed bad, with some slowdowns in playback. A Fermi GT 730 however performed like a breeze. You see, that PC was using an i5 2400 - that's PCIE gen 2. The GT 1030 was limited to 4 lanes of slow gen 2, while the Fermi card used all 16 lanes. That's 4 times the bandwidth.

I'm not sure how the first gen Ryzen fares agains Haswell, so I can't comment on that. I also am not familiar with your setup: single channel DDR4, or dual channel? Anyway, the performance difference can be due to different test used; in case I didn't mention this, I ran the spike planting training.

@oldertechtoday dual channel of course, on single channel I barely got 120 iirc and the micro stutter is way worse. Oh it's on training? Maybe try it on real unrated match since it'll be more realistic to real life use :D And iirc 1st gen ryzen should be on par with intel 6th gen, but their performance shouldn't have much different with haswell..

@PinotNoir_ In Fortnite I use a live match replay, since it is both reproducible and representative for the game. The next choice would be a bot match, since I could still somewhat do the same run.

@@gaming.teacher Thanks for the comment. Both 270 and 270X use the same Pitcairn chip as the HD7870. The difference is in binning; the chips selected for the 270X were then clocked at 1000MHz and a bit more, while the lower bin was used at 925 MHz max, as the 270.

@@oldertechtoday I know that but watching an old LTT, they managed to overclock it almost as fast as the 270x while it was cheaper, thus making the better buy, if you got lucky with the silicon lottery.

The RX 560 has what it takes to replace the R9 270, and it would be my choice, if prices are indeed the same; the 550 leaves the impression of a weaker card. Thing is, a 4 GB RX 560 has a higher price than the R9 270, at least in my neck of the woods. Now, the DX12 feature level and the driver support is worth the price difference, if you ask me. So yes, if you can afford the 560, go for that one.
