  • Recorded on a mobile phone, I hope this video helps others to fit the Sureflap. I fitted this one into a Georgian UPVC door which had a metal layer sandwiched in-between. The flap works fine.

    Thankyou so much. We were quoted £400 to put a cat flap in (not including the cat flap) as our door has the ridges like this and they said that it would require new panels as it was impossible to fit otherwise. Now to find a handyman who can do that for me!!

    Great video. Very helpful. I was wondering how to get a good fit because of the mouldings and now I know.

    Thank you very much for the video! Managed to fit it myself. Total cost less than £30 including the cat flap! P.S. if I can fit it, anyone can. Tip: Use grout for pvc doors on the edges for a professional look.

    Great post, very helpful. Much easier than I anticipated. I was going to order a plain panel for my door, but I've now learned that I don't have to. THANK YOU

    I thought I would have to get a professional in to replace my Georgian style panel with a flat one then install a dog flap. Thank you for this video, I I think I'm going to try this myself now 😊

    What if the mouldings are actually part of the door panel...?
    Those ones stuck on?

    Hi, Can I ask what type of mini hacksaw you used and what blade? I've asked 4 handyman to try and get a cat flip fitted and they all say no because of the moulding so I'd like to have a go myself.

    • @GaryATC
      @GaryATC  9 лет назад +3

      I used a hacksaw blade free hand and also used a "blade holder". Just take your time and measure a lot.

    Hi Gary, know you posted this a long time ago, but have recent;y moved into an older person's flat, and the door is not only d/glazes with panels, but has metal in-between also!! how do I remove the metal piece please?

    • @GaryATC
      @GaryATC  7 лет назад +1

      I helped a friend with a metal sheet between the front and rear of the door. i drilled holes in the corners and used a jig saw with metal blade.

    Hi ,my housing association told me i can't put a cat flap in a upvc front door because it would weaken it ,cat flaps have to be fitted when the doors are made .

    If you got metalplates in your door, dont waste your money on this product because the rfid reader wont work

    • @martinaussenhof2852
      @martinaussenhof2852 Год назад

      Is this based on a hypothesis or have you actually tried it? I’m genuinely asking, because I don’t want to ruin my door for no reason. Thank you

    • @RuniDjurhuus
      @RuniDjurhuus Год назад +3

      @@martinaussenhof2852 I tried it, had to put an extra layer of wood 1-2 inches thick and about the same size as the sureflap on the door, so the rfid reader dont get any interference, it looks terrible, but it works at least, having said that the catdoor works perfect

    • @martinaussenhof2852

    • @karl6852

      @@RuniDjurhuusso the idea is to space each side of the door further away from the metal? Could duct tape or something similar shield the metal enough?

    • @RuniDjurhuus
      @RuniDjurhuus Год назад

      I tried various things, the only thing that worked for me was to attach a wooden plate on the door, 4-5 cm thick, this was done on the interior side of the door, the exterior side doesnt need a wooden plate, since the rfid reader is only located on the interior part of the catflap.
      Also, after using it extensively every day for over a year, I haven't replaced the battery for the flap door yet. Overall, it's a great product. The only downsides I can think of are the wooden plate mentioned in the previous comments, a slight decrease in room temperature if you live in a cold location. Additionally, if you have a cat with strong hunting instincts, be prepared for daily prey deliveries. 😬

    UPVC paneled doors are shite , the panel is so weak u can cut through it and u can boot the panel in, GET A COMPOSITE DOOR!
