Hi, Valencia-- Great choice! This was one of their #1 Billboard Hot 100 songs released in 1970,weeks after they re-united after an 18- month break-up. Barry was working on this song when Robin came to his house, and they finished it together. The song is about the brothers' heartache and loneliness from their estrangement. Another song they wrote about the same time is "Lonely Days"-- another #1 for them and another break-up /make-up song for the brothers. By their own accounts, it took a couple-three years to regain the trust and chemistry. It was a traumatic breakup.

It would be worth your while to also listen to the original, some 25 years before this. You can compare the beauty of their youthful voices with this mature version, also lovely.
I’ve always thought the musical arrangement on the original was one of their best.
