pretty sweet to give away the design. ive designed so many components to work with Ron's MFT system. some i would give away, others i have to much time into, there would have to be some monetary payback. as much innovation as there is around the system, there should be a section of the website that allows us to post designs and or finished ready to ship components. where Ron makes a piece for hosting / fore fathering, and we are able to make a little bit from our work.
The size of the vaccuum canister is meaningless, since the dust collects in the upper collecter. Take a look at the Vacmaster Beast. It is a 5.5 hp vaccuum with only a 5 gallon canister which means the size of the combined unit can be dramatically reduced to a very manageable rollaround. Yes it is down on cfm from the vaccuum you are using, but the little Beast is still an incredibly powerful machine and the huge reduction in size makes for a much more compact and user friendly setup.
I checked and could only find an in-store-only availability for the Stihl SE 122 at ACE, a couple hundred miles from me. A good alternative I can get locally would be the Harbor Freight Hercules 12 Gallon, which has a flow rate of 155 CFM and is currently priced at $300. I'm also considering using the Assembled Quick Click Dust Separator with 5 Gallon Locking Collection Bin and Power Tool Adapter Set with 16 Ft. Hose, sold on Amazon for $130. Without all the accessories, you can get it for as little as $95. I like the solid design you're giving out here; thanks.
Merry Christmas!! What's the model number for that Vac? The only one i can find from Stihl in the 399 price range has a 130 cfm rating which is still outstanding the Festool ct48 beats that with a 137cfm
Thanks for the idea! Looked up the vac and yes, it’s 130 CFM with 100 in. H2O making it comparable to the Festool CT 26/36/48 series but at a lower cost. The downside is that Stihl does not offer a HEPA filter for this model. Not sure if you can use an aftermarket HEPA filter and bag? I’m sure someone out there knows.
Seems like a waste to have an empty bucket at the bottom just to have another cyclonic bucket at the top. Someone must make a shop vac with built-in cyclonic separation.
I can see some version of this being very handy for a home shop. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I saw the cc but forgot about it.
Merry Christmas all you hard working wood shop elves!
Outstanding idea and very useful .

Yeah. If the overall height could be reduced, it could be useful table space. At the moment, if you put a flat top on it, it's a bit too high.

Can you explain what it is more? Some industrial vacuum but whats the top part?
Top part is an Oneida Separator instead of cleaning out vac you just dump bucket . Because Oneida bucket is clear you can see when to dump
Is is good on Reindeer hair?

I’m new to your order site and it doesn’t allow for not putting in cc. Not sure how to do it.
It said you have to put in your cc info but you WONT be charged.
Idk what its for then..
Did he say Stihl vacuum? I didn't know they made one?

Well then your talking bag in the eyes of the industry.. in an economy of scale I see two stagers remaining specialized and pricey..
